Beautifully played! Thanks for uploading this, Eric. I love this piece, especially the middle section. I judge performances by how well the countermelody lines in the middle section are delineated. Feltsman really highlighted them well. I have about 25 different recordings of this piece, and I particularly enjoy some older recordings by Moiseiwitsch, Richter and Horowitz.
It's a favorite of mine since hearing Josef Hofmann in his "Jubilee" concert. That middle section is just a musical wonder for me, and when played so poetically like this as Feltsman does, it sounds like something I would like to call "Russian counterpoint". By the way, when Hofmann starts the middle section it's got a unique "twilight" feeling that made such a lasting impression on me so long ago. You're welcome for the upload, Robert!
