  • @babygurl59033 Do you have plenty of hard drive space open on your computer? More than 4GB?

  • Thansk! This tutorial was unbelievable awesome and fast! :D I couldn´t figure out how to do it before.. Only in imovie and thats sucks! :D

  • Trying to import videos from my Canon HF M41...and it FCP crashes exactly after pressing Transfer...without showing any errors. Any ideas, Thanks!

  • @KrlosRodz Does your Canon use AVCHD? you may need to install Apple Intermediate Codec if so.

  • Hi there,

Awesome video, thank you very much! Very clear and easy to understand :)

I also get the red exclamation mark (Error: No Data) :S Have tried all sorts of different settings, and have read every relevant topic on Mac Forums, but no help :( Have also tried initializing the hard drive.

It works fine in iMovie '09 AND in Adobe Premiere, but NOT in Final Cut Express :(((

If someone figures out how to fix it, please please please let me know!!

    Million thanks in advance!!!

  • @FrankTechHelp i am stil getting the red exclamations marks. I have installed a 500 gig internal hard drive and have over 300 gigs free just for my videos. I know it has been a while since i first posted about this. But i still need help so if you have a solution. I would really appreciate it.. Need help ASAP!!!

  • @tailogan Wow, I can't believe you are still getting this error, can you tell me exactly what it says when the flag comes up, I will try to dig a little deeper for a solution.

  • it says that my camera hard drive thing contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media. any advice?

  • @kevindude49 Try pointing it to the root of the camera directory, this is shown at 2:50 into the video. Hope this helps.

  • Hey Frank! Thanks for the help! Im Visiting Hawaii in March!

  • @dieselleaf Glad to have helped and enjoy Hawaii, you'll have a blast!

  • I have plenty of space on my hard drive and i am still having probelms with the log and transfer. I could really use some good ideas to get past this problem!!!

  • @tailogan Sending you a video I just made, let me know if it works for your situation.

  • @tailogan Any luck yet?, please post back if you found a solution, thanks.

  • I am still having the same issues and i followed your directions to the key i have a Canon Vixia hf m30. Maybe cause my camera is a little newer thats why i keep getting the exclamations marks. Please help!!

  • @tailogan Hey there, first check your hard drive for space, how much do you have open? If you only have like 6gb open then you may have problems with log and transfer. Let me know and we can go from there.

  • thank u for the information

  • Thanks Frank. Believe it or not....it was as simple as plugging into a Mac desktop with a ton of hard disk space. The Mac book I was using didn't log and transfer because it only had like 6.5 MB left. Take care

  • @cardee21 Wow what an easy solution, I will definitely keep that tip in mind, thanks for posting your solution!

  • @FranksTechHelp Hi there, I've the same problem as "Cardee21" I have plenty of space on my harddrive and i set up the formats as you explained on this vid. Still nothing! I am still getting an exclamation mark after I try adding the clip to queue! Any suggestions PLS PLS PLS

  • @ACALVESTV Hey there, is this a new setup or was it working previously? You might need to download the AIC from the Apple codecs page listed in the description. It seems that this is becoming more of a wide spread problem for some reason. Let me know if the codec download works for you. I may need to do an update to this video if we can find a solution.

  • Thanks for the quick response Frank. Unfortunately, after following all your setting recommendations I'm still having same problem. Very frustrating...new camera...new Final Cut Express....no magic.

  • @cardee21 Hate it when the magic fails us. Did the codecs page help or not?

  • Hi Frank. Same problem as "alsname". I add clip to queue, status bar rolls, freezes on idle, then red exclamation mark??? I'm using a Sony NXCAM. Any advice? Thanks man.

  • @cardee21 Sounds like you may need some codecs, I updated the description, check out the link and see if you have everything installed or may need any of these.

  • i just bought a canon hf s20 and final cut express and was completely lost as too how to get my videos onto my mac. it was sooo easy after seeing your video ! ! ! ! ! ! thanks ! ! ! ! ! ! just one question, do i loose any video quality using your settings?

  • @superflysportfishing Thanks, glad I could help you out. I usually don't notice any quality loss until I compress them down using VideoVangelist, of course you can adjust the quality, size, etc. The more you compress the more quality loss you will get. If you output without any compression then you should be great with those settings.

  • thank you so much

  • Thank you so much. I bought a new AVCHD camera and could not get it to import into final cut. The was exactly the help I needed.

  • @jhuddleston369 Glad to be of assistance and thanks for posting the positive feedback.

  • I tried all the settings you recommended, to no avail. I have FCE 4.0 and the same Canon HG10. Any suggestions?

  • @alsname Did you get this problem solved? Also did you get the AIC codec installed, this sounds like the problem...

  • The wheel run, but the status bar doesn't move. Then it freezes on idle, with a red exclamation point. I used all the settings you recommended. Same thing, FCE 4.0 and an HG10 Canon.

  • @alsname Did you get this solved? Seems like I suggested to download the codecs but wanted to follow up.

  • i love you this is going to help me sooooooo much. bye bye imovie

  • @delite3014 Thanks for the love, I'm glad this helped you out. Love your channel by the way, you have some great videos delite!

  • @FranksTechHelp - okay frank ..... you are way to nice .....but thanks to you I will have some better videos .. I am going to do cloning today!

  • nice one. thank you

  • i got to the part where you add to queue. When it finished the status showed a red icon and said error no data... any ideas... i cant get past this point

  • Try watching the response video above and see if that helps. Follow the set-up in both videos, if that doesn't work then let me know and I will track down the problem. Make sure you do the "Easy Setup" in the FCE menu, and then click the "Perform Task" icon in "Log-and-Transfer" then "Add Custom Path" and point it to your camera's root directory. If you don't see your cam in directory then make sure it shows on your desktop. If not then check your connections. Hope this helps and let me know...

  • THANK YOU for this
