Actually, the people in Dak Lak are not Khmer. They are the Khmer Loeu, sometimes known as Montagnards. Specific ethnic groups include Jarai, Brao, Bahnar, and Kuy. They also live in Cambodia in Mondolkiri and Ratanakiri provinces. While some speak languages belonging to the same language family as Khmer, these are tribal people who are definitely not Khmer and who are indigenous to the Annamite Cordillera.
