  • orla fallon does it better

  • there is nothing about this that is not absolutely gorgeous sight and sound

  • This is one of those pieces of music that makes you want to smack someone for not enjoying it, as if you wasted something great on someone who buys the NOW albums.

  • yet another great irish tune

  • She looks a lot like the young Shirley Jones.

  • I wish she would go back to singing opera so bad =(

  • @crazystar662 She never sang opera....I believe you meant singing classical music

  • i had always wish to have someone like you

  • its good but not the best ..thomas carey tipperary

  • The local Council in Carrickfergus will not accept this beautiful song as an anthem, WHY?, Its too Irish !!

    Thats the sectarianism for you.

  • ona ładna ale wykonanie do kitu

  • Изумительная песня, очень нежное исполнение :))

  • I live in carrickfergus and trust me, its pretty shit

  • could the first part of the town be named after the fairy prince?

  • Aaaahhh I love it, very beautiful. Whatever happened to Charlotte, where is she now?

  • @IX19UT8O she released a new album with nashville influences. it is called back to scratch

  • Jackbanpk,

A wonderful version of this song was covered by Loudon Wainwright for the TV series "Boardwalk Empire." I think it's the best version done to date. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be available anywhere, except as a YouTube video.

  • She is truly Stunning.

  • Love this version of song xxx

  • it's so hard to find a male voice singing this song in this style

but her version is still great!! it makes me happy

  • @jackbanpk . Listen to the version of the Dubliners, a male version and very beautiful and live performance

  • Absolutely, drop dead beautiful....I've checked out her pop songs she's singing now, and she sounds no different then all the rest..Pop singers are a dime a dozen, but with her God-given voice, she needs to sing songs like this. It is her voice at its best, it protects it, but unfortunately, what she's singing now is just plain ruining it. Anyone can hear it, but I guess they could care less 'cause pop is the thing now. In 10 years, people will be asking "Remember how she used to sing?" So sad.

  • @MrReed314 So very ture.

  • Great voice

  • she sings this song lovely x

  • She is sooooo beautiful!! :D

  • なんて綺麗な人なんだ!

    歌も素敵だし。

    心が洗われる様です。

  • lovely!

  • the bestttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

  • Irish, God created you in His best mood!

  • no... i don't like this at all. this singer is still a child, she has to refine her voice... listen to the preformance of anne buckley from "lord of the dance". nothing else.

  • D6vid6av How can you say that?Charlotte is very talented, and this is beautiful. However,I took your advice, and listened to Anne Buckley's version, which is simply breathtaking.

  • An absolutely beautiful piece of music about my home town by one of the best looking young singers i have seen.

  • Have you EVER heard a more BEAUTIFUL voice ? And..have you EVER seen a more BEAUTIFUL young lady ? XOXOXO

  • I would love for her and an Irish Singer named, Mary Duff, perform duets of this song and many of the "old country" classics.

  • Thanks for this tip, spadinajack, what an incredible voice. Such a duet would be pretty awesome.

  • This woman is nothing short of incredible ! And she's purty, too ! Another example of the great Welsh gift of voice...

  • Ohhh such a dazzling lass! How does such beauty, talent & grace & in such abundance always emanate from the United Kingdom & Wales? The Celtic Women also seem to be from another realm or dimension, their beauty is so fierce! Thank you God, for the blessings of these beautiful women & their voices!!

  • @jillyhawk Wales is part of the United Kingdom.

  • @jillyhawk Catherine Zeta Jones is from Wales too... :)

  • @magicalskunk - SO IS CARRICK FERGUS. AH I KNEW HIM WELL!

  • @jillyhawk Don't forget the Irish

  • @22grena.....The Irish are at the top of the list, my error for saying the United Kingdom instead of the individual countries of Ireland & Scotland along with Wales.... England & her queen may lay claim to the "Kingdom" but I shall always view my beloved ancestral homeland of Eire as an independent country & not beholden to crown rule....Peace, slan go foill....Saoirse! Jillyhawk~

  • I just love traditional Irish music

  • i remember loving this song when i was really young, and i still love i! :]

  • She's kicking back and relaxing on this song. I"ve heard her shake the rafters. The girl can wail when she wants.

  • very beautiful

  • :O I love this song & i have been looking for it for ages but i didnt know what it was called!!!

    Thanks :D

  • That was a great song!

  • Simply beautiful

  • awesome song!! awesome sound!!

  • everyone with those harsh comments i bet your all just jelous of her singing and that shes welsh

  • @qwertyc13

I totally agree all th best singers from the United Kingdom are either Irish or Welsh, ain't that a suprise. She's soo talented and u all just wish u were like her!

  • Not bad, but not close to being as good as Orla Fallon or Anne Buckley.

  • DANG..... She could be an opera singer xD she's amazing xD

  • no way, her voice is WAY too airy and tiny. she needs to stick to this kind of singing!

  • haha she WAS actually an opera singer! =] But she wanted to be a pop star... hence the airy, tiny voice. =]

  • i'm sorry, but singing operatic repertoire does not necessarily an opera singer make.

  • You have a very good point! =] I do love her voice though, "technical" opera singer or not. =]

  • I think it should be illegal to have such beautiful music sung by such a beautiful girl. She's great

  • She's amazing!!

  • cute like this. but know more.

  • Happy Birthday Charlotte Church!

  • What a pity she felt she had to be so critical towards the Catholic Church on her chat show. Pauline publisher now refuse to stock her material. She went from singing for the Holy Father, to a foul mouthed lager swilling ladette. Really cute...

  • i dont think she was that critical some of the things she said were true like how we were told not to read harry potter . . . thats stupid :P

anyway she isnt a she used to go out when she was a teenager . . . who hasnt done that . . . now she has 2 babys and lives in the countryside.

  • "She went from singing for the Holy Father, to a foul mouthed lager swilling ladette."

I think this makes her a more authentic Irish Catholic girl.

  • Rokovsky, It would help if she was Irish. She's Welsh.

  • She needs all the Irish Catholic girl traits she can get.

  • Northern Irish

  • sucks how she damaged her voice....beatiful song...

  • Christ she's cute :P

  • I live in Carrickfergus, trust me its piss. Far from a large town tbh.

  • hahah do u really?? haha wow

  • i love her.. shes AMAZING.. but why has it changed.. so much.. a different genre shes taken up.. makes one sad.. in a way.. but o well.. can we help it? everyone changes... ='[...

  • Class 5***** thank you for sharing

  • i love this song so much.x

  • This is the perfect genre for her.

  • Nice voice. Lovely song. However, this version is just EXTREMELY cheesy and melodramatic.

  • jaja primero dices que esta bonita la cancion y despues la criticas, que tipico...

  • great!

    i ♥ she is great!!

  • she's pretty

  • 3 words how dare she!!!!!!!!

  • That is 3 words plus 8 exclamation points. :)

  • but shes is still crap can she write her own tunes and be original taffy singing irish

    soz it dont mix

  • I really like this song ...I wish all of her music sounded this way. That new stuff is very unoriginal. It sounds like she wants to be another lame popstar. Not that i dont give her credit for being versitial...

  • I live in carrickfergus hahaha

  • Lucky you are.... I wish I were in Carrickfergus...

  • Wonderful!

  • que asco este video por dios, ella es una mierda, y no sirve para cantar. QUE DESAGRADABLE Y PENOSA!

  • she used to be my idol

  • I like this song by her but she sounds so bad as she got older.

  • haha I love this, I live beside carrickfergus, brother lives in it.. always go pizzahut there and my granny lived there to for a bit in the home ebside the library. carricks nice.

  • she is amazingly talented... its right but her singing was much more better when she was a kid! I like those songs. But now it is just like a lullaby......X_X

  • Wasn't this girl like an opera singer or something?

  • @Zak024 She was a popera singer. Opera singers sing arias (opera songs) only. Popera singers sing arias as well as songs from other genres in a classical voice. They're great ambassadors. They bring opera to mass America.

  • I'm not try to make fun or dislike Charlotte Church,But I suddenly realized that my friends can sing like that...^^"

  • -thumbsup- So can mine.x3 <3

  • but i think she doesnt sing at the fullest of her voice here, try out "bridge over troubled water" or ave maria... she is in fact well trained and powerful

  • This is OK, but is it just me, or was she more powerful as a kid?

  • i wish i could go to ireland i have family out there

  • Im from carrickfergus :D

  • I've always loved this song...

    thanks for putting it up!

  • love this song!

    She is amazing!

  • i remember when i was a little girl watching her on songs of praise

    she was amazingly talented.

  • i love this song.... and also charlotte---- i wish i was back home again.....

  • I love charolette not in her new music crap but in her celtic stuff its the best ^^

  • Beautiful song, in beautiful location - Charlotte Church has an angelic voice & she looks like an angel (makeup is well done to compliment her natural beauty!

  • ♥

  • At 13 she was the biggest star in classical music. I can understand why she wanted to take a shot at British Pop. It just didn't work. This is the Charlotte Church that I know and love.

  • she has a beautiful voice, but she would look much prettier without all the makeup, something ALOT lighter and WAY more natrual would be better. she has one of those unique faces that looks bad with makeup and doesnt do well with the accentuation it adds to her allready prominant features. goregous though.

  • i love her version of this song.. but declan galbraith's version of this song is better

  • Amen, NativeMoon!!

  • i love this song

  • Charlotte succeeds with music like this and classical. Pop really does not suit her and she tries just too hard to try make it work. Hopefully one day she'll have a crack at more traditional styles of music again.

  • I Love The Orignal Carickfergus

    It Was Brillant

But This Version Is Very Sweet I Think [:

    x

  • This, her rendition of Pie Jesu, The Prayer, and Father Can You Hear Me are probably my all time favorites that she's done.

  • It's Papa can you hear me. Just letting you know.

  • I wish she turned back like this video period. She now can't get my admiration for having changed to pop style. I hate her that way.

  • about time someone put a good copy of this song on the tube.all the others were out of sync and pixely.

  • my all time FAVORITE!!! <3

  • She wants to go to carrickfergus?

    ..Dear God woman, why?!

  • It's an old Irish song.

  • ok sozzy if this has already been said but thought you should change it nere the end you have 3 more lines than she sings.

  • It sounds bad,sry.

    I don`t like it.

Search for "Mythos Borussia Mönchengladbach" here on youtube, then you`ll find the best "Cerrickfergus" ever. Test it,please.

  • I mean the version that senffrosh means! this one is just beautiful!

  • I really like this version too, but I have to disagree - the other one doesn't sound like crap - it's a great version. It is more traditional.

  • She was 15 at the time she sang this song

  • I haven't heard the original version so I really can't compare the two, but I do think Charlotte has a beautiful voice. Especially when she sings this song. Simple, pure and easy to understand. Thank You for posting it.

  • I rather enjoyed this rendition of the song by Charlotte as there is little of the vibrato that she uses in other songs like Ave Maria. Sounds great and natural.

  • angelic beautiful both how she looks and sounds

  • Yes too bad she changed completely her image and style for the worse! Check out her newest video to see what I mean!

  • i kinda like her new style and i like her new curvy physique it shows she has grown up

  • She has a great voice but this an easy-listening version of a sad song. She doesn't sing the usual lyrics of the second verse.Given her fondness for alcohol,it would have been more appropriate if she'd sung the traditional line "I'm drunk today and I'm rarely sober"

  • I love this song it is so beautiful.

  • I love this version of Carrikfergus sung by the gorgeus Charlotte Church, she has the mmost beuatiful voice. And this song suits her voice. The high range of her voice is absoulutley amazing, I love Charlotte Church's voice, too bad she doesnt sing like this as often.

  • This is a pretty song. I haven't heard it in a while.

  • most beautiful thing on earth!!!! i love her

  • Top notch.

  • My favorite of her songs, simply pure and beautiful!

  • i think this is the best version of this song ive heard and her voice is purely amazing and this is the best i think ive seen her look to boot

  • much as i love miz church..where did she get her lyrics???????????????????pish

  • It's an Irish folk song, if I'm not mistaken. No one wrote it for her.

  • i know the song well, thats what i meant, dunno where got the lyrics though as they are not right here and there.

  • Oh, I'm sorry, I misunderstood.

  • Many traditional songs have different versions. Take a look at "I wish, I wish" or "The Butcher Boy" or many other songs. Look at "Greensleeves"! Even "Drunken Sailor" has many versions!

It is neither right or wrong. It's different.

  • I beg to differ with you on this point.someone sat down and wrote the lyrics of this song many years ago. They I would imagine, not have written two or three different versions of these lyrics

  • True. Unfortunately, we have these versions because for hundreds of years it's been passed down orally until someone wrote down what they knew. It's alike to a game of telephone, only with a few generations in between. Unless you have an original documentation of the song from the person who first thought of it, then we do not know which version is correct. You may have a more correct one to the original, being as you live closer to where I'd assume it was written, but not 100%.

  • I take your point.I suppose only he/she who put pen to paper is the only one who would be able to tell us which lyrics are 100% correct, but I imagine they are not in a great position to do that now.

  • My daughter is dancing to this in her dance school show later on this year, the trouble is we can't stop singing the tune it's so addictive! It's a fab piece of music so relaxing.

  • She looks absolutely beautiful in this video and she sounds wonderful!!!

  • Irish music really has this mystifying and haunting beauty that you'd like to listen every now and then...

  • I completely agree with you sir !!

  • she's very gooood!!!

  • i like this video better than her crazy chick video! haha!! that video is so nasty!

  • She really has emotion on the song. She also has a whole and soft voice unlike others whose voice have air in it or really powerfull voices that doesn't seem to fit.

  • She really has emotion on the song. She also has a whole and soft voice unlike others whose voice have air in it or really powerfull voices that doesn't seem to fit.

  • for some reason i like this song i usually hate folk songs but this one is comforting i wish i could play a little guitar and sing this in the middle of the woods

  • As far as I know she is the greatest soprano. I really agree on that title.

  • better than the other vid ... i really love Charlotte

  • UK & USA Forever! Ulster is British! FGAU!

    God Save the Queen!

  • ireland is ireland get over it!

  • I visited Carrickfergus, lovely place. Charlotte Church is very lovely too, I hope she has several children to help carry on the Celtic blood lines as so such accomplished people dont go extinct.

  • Usually when I watch videos of people singing, it inevitably becomes some debate where people are comparing the given singer with other singers. I personally don't care because I think that they all have beautiful voices. The music doesn't become "bad" when a person sings it. God loves them all. =)

  • Well each entitled to their own opinion I guess :) But I maintain that she is nothing compared to "real" Celtic singers like Enya and Celtic woman who are seasoned Irish singers and have the ability to bring the "spirit and emotion " of ireland to their music. This young lady just doesn't have it, although in opera she would do well. :))

  • she is ok. but has nothing on Celtic

Woman and "Orla" who does this song.

This doesnt seem to fit her. Don't care for her style. Nice video quality though :)

  • She IZ hawt tho. Looks like a spinner ta me >]

  • Charlotte Church is the best in singing this song ...

much better than the Celtic Woman and other singers.

  • she is very pretty,like me,lol

  • What ever happened to her? Is she still doing music?

  • fantastic

  • VIVE LE CARRICK

  • Beautiful song, Beautifully sung.

  • when i was little, i wanted to be her haha

    this song is pretty

  • there is a carrickfergus in county antrim but this is not where the song is about its about a place called carrickfergus in the republic of ireland and yes charlotte looks great !!
