Well have to agree to disagree here, my friend. Jones sucks to me. He rarely breaks the first tackle and runs like he has got ankle-weights on. If he didn't have close to 300 carries, 4 former 1st rounders long the O-line & Farve at QB, he would've never had the year he had. Greene carried Iowa on his back in a tough conference. Tanny (Jets GM) & Ryan said that he was the best back on their draft board. I think he'll get every opportunity to be "the man" for them, and will be by season's end.
I'd LOVE to see him, LT & Sproles in the same backfield together! However, that would mean we'd either need to trade down or UP to get a 2nd rounder, which isn't exactly impossible as long as AJ Smith is running the show! :)

You're talking about a very SLOW Wisconsin defense - nowhere near the speed of NFL DBs and LBs. There are well over 50 QUALITY RBs in the league right now - only one of them is from the Big Ten. Bottom Line is that the high quality of Big Ten O-lineman makes Big Ten RBs look better than they actually are. Shonn Green will NOT make it in the NFL.
Of course Wisconsin's D is no where near NFL speed. I never said it was. And saying Green will not make it in the NFL, based solely on the fact that he plays in the Big 10 is absurd.

I'm just saying that in general, Big Ten backs look a lotter better in college and don't make the transition to NFL as well, because the Big Ten has the best lineman in the country. Of the past ten first round RBs from the Big Ten - only one of them can be considered really good - and that's LJ. Other than that - its a long list of busts (Curtis Enis, KJ Carter, Chris Perry, Blair Thomas, Laurence Maroney.....the list goes on)
Moroney did well and has been dealin with alot of injuries...but what about marion barber, he's been great at dallas, also injured recently...I think shonn will be fine...

I wish it were that easy. Separating the audio and then trying to edit it to make it fit is extremely time consuming and difficult. It is especially difficult when using replays and no the original play as highlight film. Another issue is the Big 10 announcers aren't that good and the audio from the game is pretty lame.

What a dynamic running back, wow. His consistency week to week is amazing, as are his deceptive looks (I never would have thought he could be that agile or quick looking at him). Well have to agree to disagree here, my friend. Jones sucks to me. He rarely breaks the first tackle and runs like he has got ankle-weights on. If he didn't have close to 300 carries, 4 former 1st rounders long the O-line & Farve at QB, he would've never had the year he had. Greene carried Iowa on his back in a tough conference. Tanny (Jets GM) & Ryan said that he was the best back on their draft board. I think he'll get every opportunity to be "the man" for them, and will be by season's end.

How can you say Lawrence Maroney is a bust. He had a pretty good 2007, 4.5rushing average, 6 td's, 835 yards in 13 games played and only 3 starts, very limited playing time. This year he was out for the season. he's still only 24 how can you call him a bust?

Doesn't look that impressive.....Big Ten backs always look better in college because the Big Ten has a bunch of corn-fed farm boys blocking. Unfortunately, much of their success is due to their blockers and few translate to the NFL. You're talking about a very SLOW Wisconsin defense - nowhere near the speed of NFL DBs and LBs. There are well over 50 QUALITY RBs in the league right now - only one of them is from the Big Ten. Bottom Line is that the high quality of Big Ten O-lineman makes Big Ten RBs look better than they actually are. Shonn Green will NOT make it in the NFL.

but if you figure something out. the defense scheme for the last i don't know 10 opponents iowa played the teams put anywhere from 7 to 10 guys in the box and he still dominated and you think he is bad. and if you say anything the sec, big12 both of them suck on run defense compared to the bigten best and most nfl ready defenses every year

I'm just saying that in general, Big Ten backs look a lotter better in college and don't make the transition to NFL as well, because the Big Ten has the best lineman in the country. Of the past ten first round RBs from the Big Ten - only one of them can be considered really good - and that's LJ. Other than that - its a long list of busts (Curtis Enis, KJ Carter, Chris Perry, Blair Thomas, Laurence Maroney.....the list goes on)

I wish it were that easy. Separating the audio and then trying to edit it to make it fit is extremely time consuming and difficult. It is especially difficult when using replays and no the original play as highlight film. Another issue is the Big 10 announcers aren't that good and the audio from the game is pretty lame.

Also that play you mentioned shows quite a bit to anyone that actually understands the game of football. Although a short gain It shows the patience and vision he runs with. Next look at the shot he takes on that play (his second carry) gotta give 21 credit, he hit Shonn strong and low, not dirty but did hit that KNEE hard, that displays toughness. Get a clue...

What a dynamic running back, wow. His consistency week to week is amazing, as are his deceptive looks (I never would have thought he could be that agile or quick looking at him). Too bad he isn't getting more recognition for his efforts, but I believe he'll win the Doak Walker. I also really hope he'll be back next year for Iowa, but it isn't looking like it. :(

im a huggge big ten fan. and i admit greene is the SECOND best in the big ten. because with the excuse "oh well ringer has 100 more carries" well half of those could be hurting greenes average if he gets stopped. now all of you are gonna say he doesnt.. how did msu win? he got layed out by one of our worse linebackers because no one blocked that play. trust me, its tbe o-line and iowas is better than states AND ringer is more reliable in the passing game and blocking.

(not the heisman, definently bradford) but yes i do think the ringer and greene are the top two backs in the country, i just wish greene would have just as many touches so we could actually compare, because the other team ALWAYS knows when ringer is gonna get the ball if he runs it 40 times a game, same with greene, but not as much, i wish they had to same amount of carries. thats the only way we could tell.

shonn greene- 1,585 yards, 15 TD. 100+ yards every game, including two 200 yard games. 6.2 ypc and nations leading rusher. definently a heisman finalist, by far nations best back. just watch him. hes 235 pounds (all muscle) and hes very very fast. he knocks people on the ground two ways: driving into them like a truck or flying around them. i saw him in 2006 and i thought, "hes big, fast, looks pretty good so far. he has potential"

Shut up brooklynite82, all Javon Ringer has is speed. Shonn Greene has break away speed and hits the holes way better. Not to mention he's put about 15 guys on their ass this year. Just pure speed and not being able to hit the holes won't get you anywhere in the pros. Oh and here's a stat for YOU, Javon Ringer has double the carries and less yards than Shonn Greene. Next year all the Hawkeye fans will be laughing when Shonn is actually getting somewhere in the pros.

Plus, QBs have been getting all the love as far as the Heisman is concerned. Reggie Bush was the last RB to win is saying something . The media absolutely loved him. Most people don't even know who Greene is.

Needs 300 for what? 215 yards against Minnesota gives Greene 1800 yards on the year. That's ridiculous for a guy that did not even work out with a football team last year. Greene should be a lock for the Doak Walker award if he eclipses 100 yards next week. I don't see the Gophers holding him for fewer than 150, especially considering they give up 140 per game already.

Shonn Greene is 20 times easier to bring down than Ringer, Even though Greene is 2 inches taller and about 20pounds more, the raw strength that Ringer posseses is Hard to come by accompanied with speed. And the reason Ringer has more carries is because he's a classic power back/stiff arm back and runs upright towards tacklers while Greene always trys to outjuke or confuse his defenders. You cant compare them two different skill sets, two different backs. Both great

Greene is a much better back than Ringer ever will be. Greene doesn't have as many yards or as many tds but he doesn't get 50 carries a game either. Ringer only has so many yards because he gets a ridiculous amount of carries in a game and runs up his yards against defenses that are poor against the run. Greene on the other hand has gone for over 100yds in every single game this season even against good defenses. Greene had over 200yds against Wisconsin. Ringer didn't even break 100.

birbanteone - You have no idea what you are talking about. This entire video, and almost all of Greene's big runs throughout the season are all about yards after contact. Greene bounces off, twists, spins and drags tacklers for extra yards. He sure as hell is a better all around back than Javon Ringer. Iowa's offensive line is not great. Not great as in the 2004 great Iowa line. They are above average and were missing a 4 year starter in the WI game.
