manning643 The Jane Yarn is the Donald P. Hall T-460 I commanded this vessel 1993-1996 and turned her over to NOAA. this vessel was assigned to COMSUBGRUSIX Charleston,SC. When given to NOAA she was in excellent running condition built in 1953 had original CAT engine. She should have been made available to the public. No credit was made by NOAA for her training of thousands of officer and enlisted sailors in piloting and navigation. what happened to her brightwork. Shame on NOAA. Im POed.
65' long steel hull, built for the Army Transportation Corps as a Coastal Cargo and Troop Transport in Ft. Leavenworth KS in 1953. 1 Cat D-375 Diesel propulsion engine. 1 Westerbeke 120/240vAC gen. Waukesha 110vDC and a diesel bilge/fire pump.
QMC Bill Dixon was Craftmaster and MM1 Tim Jacobs was engineer.
Considering the T-454 was sitting at the old Army TC docks cannibalized for parts; it is a crime to sink the Hall!
