This was my first introduction to this guy, great ideas, every little comic he makes could be a single painting, with added depth and colors and dimensions. Some of them are amazing.
You should try to see the greater context of a work of art, not to reduce it to the mere aesthetic moment. Even a Leonardo means less if not put in the context of the artistic tradition of what the artists before them have achieved. You ought to put the question why and in which context an artist has done something but not something else and chose this way and not the other. This is always valid, so try doing it. I'm not necessarily trying to defend Perjovschi, still...

I find most of his cartoons more or less liberal cliches...sort of boring. I'm frankly not interested, and I ask you what purpose does this serve beyond simply asking you to reflect your own politics vs this artists? Then ask yourself...why do I give a shit what this man has to say? Calling America a power hungry piece of shit is nothing new, nothing interesting. Peh.
The art world can sometimes seem to be so pretentious at times....explanations should not over shadow the work and it seems like people are more into the explanation and not the actual piece. If it pulls something from you it should do so in whatever way it is intended. This may not be a popular opinion but to me, art should speak for itself, and if it's not speaking without added words..then it's not speaking at all.
Have any of y'all been to MoMA and seen this drawing? It's awesome and human and organic and I think, so important in a magor museum in this impersonal, mass produced time we live in.
Yes... yet another mega-silly "artistic" trial. And another list of equally silly comments. "MoMA doesn't makemastakes" (wrong spelling kept)?! Really?!
What is art, actually? Let's not get into it right now... The above "effort" does a great job in demonstrating what art is not, though. Everything that is "different" automatically qualifies as art? Satire at all cost - is it inherent art? Think not. Look at the above "work". Look again. Closely.
Will Rogers didn't really do much either as doesn't Pat Oliphant..but they emote and provoke with elegant simplification...art after all is in the eye (or colon) of the beholder... Go Dan
interesting ideas but you could find them on a comic book with political interest...if this can be called art then the sketches on my notebook during lessons as well. The difference here is that I'm not famous so mine are called "wasting time"
jiveDadson...not to be a dick but that fact you said that means you dont know art. art is an expression not a look. its the artists individual taste and style that makes it art not what your pussy ass thinks of it. Dont talk shit about things you cant do.

People that don't understand this whole premise are the same people that cannot differentiate art to begin with.

Read "The Painted Word" by Tom Wolfe, it is a quick read and it will explain the political motives that lead to this kind of "work".
Personally I do not like modernism or post-modernism, but I understand their arguments.
