  • The Huge hit , "Smokin' In The Boys ' Room" , the respectable hit "I'm The Leader of The Gang" and this lesser hit , that almost broke wide open , but , Cub Koda said a streaker crashed the stage at a Dick Clark taping , ruining their chances , as Clark still had a lot of clout. The song still charted and got radio play......

  • Maria Ouspenskaya played the old Gypsy woman in "The Wolf Man" and "Frankenstein Meets The Woflman", maybe one of the "House of" movies....She made the famous "The Path you took was thorny, my son"speech. She was elderly by that time. Her character sympathized with Talbot / The Wolfman, tho' he'd killed her son (Bela Lugosi.)in self - defense.

  • Maria Ouspenskaya - actress in the 30s/40s

  • One hit wonder? Five words: "Smokin' in the Boy's Room"!

  • o melhor power trio da historia....

  • Blast from the past. I remember Cub's intro, almost word for word, from when it aired. Can anybody answer a thirty + year old riddle and tell me who Marie Alspinskaya was?

  • @Gravida12. /Maria Ouspenskaya

  • Saw em towards thier end. They had a 2nd guitar player with them that tour. Were the opening act of 3 band's that night but put on the best show .Underrated maybe but definately fun.

  • THEY WERE A ONE HIT WONDER IN AUSTRALIA ,THEIR SONG SMOKIN IN THE BOYS ROOM (No 9. APRIL 1974 ) .BUT LOOKING AT THEIR OTHER STUFF ON YOUTUBE IT SEEMS WE WERE SOLD SHORT !

  • Look at the crowd, that would suck to be playing for a bunch of dead people

  • These guys played Sherwood Forest in Michigan for years. Great live band. Miss you Cubb and the boys.

  • Awesome! He waits only 8 seconds for people to flip through the channels. That's before cable when there were only 3 to 5 channels available and you had to get up and turn the knob on the TV. LOL!

  • These guys were soooo way ahead of their time....If they were here today, you'd never even know who these crappy bands today were......

  • i know the bassist im not joking

  • i know the bassist

  • Cub Koda is the FUCKING man x's 10.

  • They were not a one hit wonder group for me. I owned several of their albums, and loved to see them PERFORM. They were entertainment!

  • I think Cub Koda looks like a cross between Robin Williams and Geddy Lee!! Great band.

  • You need rock and roll because it builds bodys twelve ways!!! XD ahahahahah Awsome!

  • Tongue in cheek has an all new meaning watching this. Wonderful!

  • hahahaha, that Cub Koda was one funny guy \m/

  • They were the Kings of the Party. I remember when My Band "Ivy Soul" Opened for them at the Jackson National Guard Armory in 1968, they flicked us away like a bad booger! They were freaking awesome! We had Silvertone amps, they Had Marshalls!

They had an act we had.... Damn they were great! Miss you Cub! Love you Mike and Tony! Tony! Where the Hell are you at??

  • One hit wonders????? Oh man...you have very limited hearing and a very limited music education my friend.

  • A little bit of Led Zep's "Communication Breakdown" about 3:15.

  • I swear Cub Koda looks like Vai-nobody worked harder or had more fun than Brownsville

  • in a Joan Jettt's 'Summertime blues' vid, there is a male voice about 23 seconds in , Is that voice Cub Koda?

  • the station hit #31 in Billboard, 10-12-74. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • No offense, but they did only have one hit: Smokin' In The Boy's Room, but that designation to me only means people didn't realize how good they really were.

  • First of all these guys were not one hit wonders..And Cub Koda was Tremendous ya

  • Its been a wile since I've heard this one. This song rocks!!

  • Do you happen to have thier rendition of Sweet Jane from the Yeah album? Hard one to find.

  • this is listed under "One Hit Wonders" yet Brownsville station is who originaly recorded "Smokin' In The Boys Room" and it's been remade by several artists, So one hit doesn't really pertain to these guys( unless they had A really small tolerance or some extraordinary smokin's)!

  • Back in the mid 70's, my high school dances... the DJ always closed with this song.

    Fuck Yeah!

  • Where's that Alvin Lee bass player now? I had a mad crush on him as a teeny bop.

  • tHAY ARE FROM VAN WERT OHIO THATS WERE I AM FROM

  • @83denver

Henry Weck, the drummer, is from Van Wert. I think the rest are from Ann Arbor.

  • i want that guitar

  • Eugene Levy...hahahaha!

Thats Cub Koda....and hes LONG dead.

His glasses are at the Smithsonian in Washington.

  • Love these guys, talk about a band that really got the party started!! If they were playing in my area I went to see them. From a big time fan and wanna bee 1971 saline mi. battle of the bands winner

  • Love these guys, talk about a band that really got the party started!! If they were playing in my area I went to see them. From a big time fan and wanna bee!

  • Eugene Levy, now that's funny. What's the deal with those glasses?

  • I didn't know Eugene Levy was in a band.

  • Look at the number of albums they recorded, and the number of hits. True, they never really achieved international status, but they rocked the 70's. They were and are still one of my favorite bands. Their song "Never Say Die" from the Air Special album pretty much defined my attitude regarding my life.

  • Mega Chingon

    War Eagle

  • This is ROCKIN! All the way live even with the herb ass audience.

    WAR EAGLE

    AUBURN TIGERS

    NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

    1913, 1957, 2011

  • He sorta sound like Lt. Dan.

  • Oh, wow....a Maria Ouspenskaya shout-out? Really? I'm impressed. That would be like Justin Bieber name-dropping Lene Lovich.

  • Being from Michigan, I saw these guys about five times, sometimes opening, sometimes THE act, with KISS, Aerosmith, Bachman Turner Overdrive, and to be honest, they ALWAYS blew the crowd away. They were and always will be the definitive version of 70's Rock n Roll! Cub knew how to whip the crowd into a frenzy. RIP Cub....

  • Thanks for reminding me how much these guys sucked. Saw the Cubster doing a Summer Barbque Festival c. 10 years ago, even after all those years his ego was still much greater than his talent. Cool "Sweet Jane" cover on that one LP, tho'. Whatever became of his world famous record collection?

  • @Nyquilcoma dude they dont suck, they're just good 3- chord rock n roll, and some of the shit is better then 3-chord rock n roll. I mean seriously some of his guitar playing was pretty damn good I mean it wasn't page or something but it definatley didnt suck.

  • Great arena rock , power and talent

  • These guys so kicked ass. This song and "Leader Of The Gang" just rock like hell!! For a three piece band..... great show, great sound, tons of personality..... these guys just rock.

  • RIP Cub Koda......

  • These guys were just great live. I've seen many bigger, better known performers over the years, but I think Brownsville was by far the most fun.

  • This band turned me on to rock. I saw them live blow a young ZZ Top away!

  • SInger rocking that flames jacket, this must be the band the 80's hair bands copied. The long hair and leather outfits. I would rate this song higher than their signature song Smoking in the Boys Room. Bass player has a better voice than guitarist.

  • That's REAL Rock 'n Roll.

  • Awesome.

  • They remind me of Weezer. A band with a sense of humor!

  • Boy this video make me glad I grew up in the 70's. Great times and good music, except Disco. It still sucks!!! Thanks for posting it!!!

  • Geranium diodes huh"..!aH ,''thats killer!..

  • que buena cancion simple y con mucho power.

  • Cub Koda was KING!!!!!

  • smokin in the boys room by brownesville ststion was covered by motley crue! they had lots of great songs!!

  • @1:10 It's the Church Lady!

  • I saw the station on In Consert when I was only 11. Did you know that rock builds your body 12 ways?

  • God I miss Cub! I met him several times 'back it the day' and he was so cool. Really nice. Not all big-headed and snobbish. Not to mention an incredible guitar player. R.I.P. Cubster.

  • I have been waiting for years to see if somebody could find this one,,, congrats and thanks

  • The audience didnt care much about this song. It was a little tame.

  • Great song brings back sooo many memories most of them good

  • lies all lies browsville is was and will always be legendary

  • Well i dont know about anyone else here.. but I really miss Cub Koda..Rock bands just dont make people move like this anymore.

  • Comment removed

  • This band is so underated, wonderful tight sounds , great song, great harmonies, great stage presentation, so

    together, love them.

  • One of the best live acts I have ever seen. Cub Koda was an unreal showman. Martian Boogie!

  • Actually, converter, they were a 2-hit wonder. BS 1st had 'Smokin' in the boys' room.' then, 'Kings of the party;' which hit #31 in Billboard. God bless!

  • kuda crawlin is on air special (79)... the best record they put out imo.

  • Yeaaaahh He Plays The Bass Soo Fuckin´good

  • Does anyone remember their cover of "Who do you love" or the song "Cuda Crawlin" ?

  • RIP CUb Koda

  • proof all you need are drums, bass, guitar, and attitude to rock! don't need no fancy guitars or samplers to crank it to 11! bolt on necks and long-lug drums forever!

  • What year is this?

    It's brillo

  • 1974

  • @judaspriest1228 Which bass his he playin?

  • @TheWizzKidz Mike Lutz is playing a Fender Precision. Cub is playing a Dan Armstrong plexiglas guitar

  • Looks like a P-bass. But did you notice thr accryllic guitar?

  • @trasherxtreme They were made by Dan Armstrong, now owned by Ampeg. They made 2 reissues in the past: a smoked acrylic & a clear one.

  • brownville station is rock n roll !!!!

  • Hail, hail Cub Koda. Cub was a great rocker, and a great champion of rock n' roll music, through his many articles and columns which famously appeared in way-cool publications like Goldmine and Record Collector. Brownsville Station definitely were the Kings of the Rock n' Roll Party! RIP Cub Koda. I'll never stop enjoying your music, which lives on!

  • NOT a one hit wonder.

  • Cub Koda. King of the rock and roll Party, nuff said.

  • RIP Mr. Cub Koda -- the baddest ass Detroit rock and roll guitarist.

I'd do anything to have this music back again! These guys were absolutely awesome live....the partyingest band around.

  • "You NEED rock 'n' roll because it builds bodies twelve ways!"

And Brownsville Station was your Charles Atlas of Rock and Roll.

  • Anyone able to post any of the following from School Punks?:

    Mama Don't Allow No Parkin'

  • I meant the fake crowd listining to one of the best bands on the planet!

  • I glad I was a teen in the '70s, because our music rocked!

  • @ggblueam You got that right! Today's lame assed music is pale in comparison. I too grew up on this kind of no holds barred Rock N Roll in the 70's. Rock on GGBLUEAM!

  • @ggblueam Lucky

  • @ggblueam some rocked...some sucked...same as every other era and genre

  • Somewhere along I-40 in KY or TN is the Brownsville Station family restaurant. When I saw it, 'I freaked'. It was 7am Sunday the place was closed, bummer. -WoW

  • Cubby, Henry and Mike , i knew 'em since the early 70's lest we forget Tony Driggins on bass for a while, he left, as did Tj Cronley i knew them all! Ann Arbor was a rockin place back then, Tony is in a better place as is Cubby, i carry the torch and play their music, Smokin in the boys room --WTF-these guys have one of the coolest archives that no one can touch! I play guitar-i can! RIP-Cubby and Tony! Your music lives on buddys!! T

  • One of my favorite '70s bands. These guys knew how to rock. The late Cub Koda was really one of a kind. Bruce Springsteen opened for them back in the day.

  • Boy,does this crowd look excited or what? I've seen more life in an open casket, for fuck's sake.

  • cub must've been the inspiration for dana carvey's garth algar

  • Bless you Cub.You may be gone, but your music lives on...

  • Koda--- good guitarist, good entertainer... but why did he have to look like such a doofasaurus?

  • Being a friend of Cub's, it was a tribute to Buddy Holly

  • well, back we only had hard contact lense, so he couldn't wear them.

Or... it was part of his R&R humor act

Or...he showed the world that nerds could rock, too!! LOL

  • "We're The Kings of The Party - Cuz We're The Baddest People Alive!"

RIP Cub Koda - You Ruled Brother!

  • Christ, these guys are working their asses of onstage and the crowd looks like a fucking morgue! Rock on Cub!!!!

  • rip cub you are rock n roll legend we love you one of the best of their genre. party on dudes!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Some great R & R going on here. I still have a cassette tape I recorded off of the tv of this show.

    It's nice seeing it again.

  • C U B

    R O C K E D !!!!

  • Fully agree, He is the only man I ever seen who could do a flip, playing, and never miss a note..

Man , I miis this group.

  • With all due respect, they were far from a one hit wonder.

While the Station may not have been legendary; they were still a great Rock'n'roll band.

    Loads of fun !

  • I agree with you psychkoala smoking in the boys room , martian boogie, kings of the party, my friend jack.

sorry not a one hit wonder

  • @psychkoala yeah had more then one hit and they were more talented then a one hit wonder.

  • this is old school glam metal

  • killer guitar, fuck it-killer song from a kickass band

  • Kings of the Party was their best album.

  • This song was from the album, School Punks.

  • What happened about them???

  • Cub Coda died a few years ago from some kind of kidney disease.

  • About the others guys???

  • they sell hamburgers now

  • ha ha, these guys seemed to have a sense of humor about themselves and they're working hard up there for an audience that was just sitting on their hands. What a drag (for the band) but they kept pluggin' away.

  • That is beautiful! I remember that! Loved these guys!
