Some Speakers and Electronics produce High-Frequency sound without us even realizing it - I'm the same as you, old (And even some new) TV's cause a high-pitch whine - even when I'm the only one that hears it.

Or perhaps your mind's just picking up on a constant signal - there's a bunch of causes for it. Sadly, it's hardly recognized by medical professionals unless it is, in fact, "Tinnitus."

I'm pretty sure the original video had the frequency that supposedly only kids can hear (probably somewhere around 12KHz) but the audio quality (240p) was too low and the 12KHz range got cut out. If you wanted to actually make that high-pitched noise, you'd want to have anywhere between 12 and 15KHz, but with at least 480p quality.

Of course you all can hear it this sound is edited so you can hear it.... The mosquito nests are made to stop large amount of young teens from gathering in set areas there are several in my town if you listen to the noise for more then 3 minutes straight and still susceptible to the sound it'll give you headache and naturally you'll move away... if any of you actually read the description you'll notice it says "this is what the 'mosquito sound' suppose to sound like". It isnt the sound itself.

Well I guess these are the artifacts (aliasing effects, ringing?) occurring on lower frequencies than the original signal when the waveform gets totally trashed by resampling at different frequencies? This is definitely not the original sound there. To test your hearing, listen to a sine sweep from 20 Hz to 24 kHz (if created by software, try to set the sample rate as high as possible on both the sw and the soundcard, but make sure they are equal, to avoid aliasing...)
