Covering songs is the highest form of flattery. (I think "Yesterday", Beatles of course) has been covered over 1,000X.) The original is one of my favorite all time rock songs, and almost no one - now or then - can touch F. Mercury's voice.
All that being said, this is a fantastic cover. The Braids both have fantastic voices, and this song represents high quality R&B girl groups of the 90s very well.
No one says you have to like it, lol. But nothing's wrong with liking this AND the original.
Fuck everyone who can't appreciate modern music. Music is about interpretation and expressing one self, this is how the braids saw this song and so this is how they performed it. If you can't appreciate that then you shouldn't be listening to music.

I wont speak on behalf of Freddie, but I wouldn't be surprised if this made him turn in his grave...
Oh yes they ruined it. Bohemian Rhapsody was a masterpiece by Queen. This does in no way do justice to the original. It is listenable but nowhere near the level it was when Queen performed it. And it gets even worse, when they cut 50% of the lyrics out of the song in this version and essentially destroys the whole opera element of the song. If you want to cover one of the best songs ever made, you'll have to do an exceptional performance to do it justice. This is barely above mediocre...
ah Bohemian Rhapsody isn't the best of EVER, but it is a really great song ... this tho is a cover and when people do covers they do them their way. This is one of the best covers I've heard. Even if you prefer queen's version (which I love by the way) you cannot deny the fact they did a very great job on this. Like I said covers are not meant to be the same exact thing from the original, but can still be great. Some hard core queen may disagree, but people options.
I don't know what effort they made on this song, but the end result ends up as a generic "popularized rnb" version, and thus ends up as being a terrible cover IMO. I've heard many bad covers. But when you're covering what is regarded by most people as one of the best songs in history, you'll have to pull smth special out of a hat. and they don't IMO. It would be like me making an acoustic version of Stairway to heaven, and cut it down to 3:30 in length. It would be an insult to Led Zeppelin IMO

The Braids just transformed it into a nice pop song, I really don't think that their intention was that of rendering Bohemian Rhapsody exactly like Freddie did! And considering only this version per se, without comparisons with the original, I find this cover to be one of the most enjoyable, given the medium level of covers in general...

while not a bad cover (I don't like rap part but she sings very well) I think it's still so far from Queen version. I know commercial laws, can't do too long etc. (Queen had problem as well since for the time a 6 minutes song was considered way too long) but they cut away the soul of the song, imho. :\

Wow ok so this is a trip. This is the real version of the video caity and I did. When we filmed it there had been a bus hijacking in London so no one would play this version in Europe. That was a LOOOONG day but we had fun.

lol wow. im not going to insult you or call you foul names (or show anger with exclamation marks lol) because i think that is base. but do not let your obvious bias for r an b and rap (which is not a part of this song by the way lol) sway your judgement negatively about a very great cover of the original. it really is a great song by any standard. i loved the original and this is also a great rendition. think from a neutral standpoint as much as possible. if u still dont like it, i cant help you

Wow ok so this is a trip. This is the real version of the video caity and I did. When we filmed it there had been a bus hijacking in London so no one would play this version in Europe. That was a LOOOONG day but we had fun.

You know what's so crazy.. the "Shooter".. Zoe Ellis.. she is my friend!! She works with me. And I used to love the Braids back in the day. When she started working with me, I was like.. WTH?? She is cool folks.. They still sing together but not as the Braids..
