From what I've heard there will be a option to use a more standard desktop as opposed to Metro, but I will not be surprised that they'll try to make Metro the standard in one or two windows iterations. If that happens I think we will finally see a substantial migration of common household users to an alternative OS, most likely a *nix based one. Beside, M$ is overreacting to the idea that tablets will replace traditional computers. Maybe it will happen, but not over night.

The metro aspect when turning on your comp is just ahuge bookmarked screen with all your favorite stuff. So as soon as i turn on my comp i have every thing i need on start up on one page. You have a choice here, you can either use the normal windows desktop or the metro style, so I don't see why anybody is moaning, Windows just want to have a flexible OS that can be used on both tablets and desktop computers. If you don't like metro, then you don't have to use it, or you can stay with Windows 7.
