I never knew that ramming your ship's nose into the asteroid repetitively was such an important part to mining, After all these years of not doing so myself. DAMN IT I AM AT LEAST TRYING!

This is all best done at LVL 7 space parts, and BEST to use the tractor beam to collect the smallest chunks, cause u get a bonus of asteroid and it helps u collect much faster After u break up the big chunks with a MARK III LASER as of 2008.

when i use mining tractor beam chunks dont come out

you have to equip a mining laser too, the tractor beam only affects the smallest chunks after they have been extracted with the mining laser

TIE Bombers are best for mining, I find, because they have 2 weapon slots. One can be for the tractor beam, other for laser.
