Don't think an impulse would cause him to mock Akiha's killing abilities like he did in Kohaku's route. If he just killed said inhumans silently and absent minded, I'd definitely agree with you. But he chats and mocks both Nero and Akiha,totally unlike Shiki.
Tohno= Connected to Akiha = Connected to SHIKI after absorbing his power = Tohno is influenced by it, as he was influenced by ROA when he posessed him in Ciel's route, as well as SHIKI when he has telepathic dreams connecting to him. He did find pleasure in killing Arcuied temporarely, he said he felt so much joy out of it he almost came(lol at that) but it wasn't a personality change at all it was just a sudden urge to do it.
I'm saying he felt the same thing between Nero and Arcueid. There was no difference in the way he acted, his demon hunter blood dictated that if he had to survive he had to kill Nero because he wasn't normal and that's what drove him to go bezerk in the last second. It wasn't a personality change, Arcuied was the one who insulted Nero. Shiki was to busy fighting desperately for his life to have time to show a cocky side.
There is no way to determine what emotion he was feeling when he said that, although logic would dictate he wasn't feeling very cocky, just feeling lucky he survived and that if he tried he could win in the end.
That's like calling anime people lovers when they have one scene that suggests romantic feelings between them but it's just a friendly gesture (such as the Seto X Serenity videos where Kaiba glances at serenity like once).

If he didn't use meaningless words to insult someone instead of killing them, he would have more TNanaya nature in him than he did while insulting him. TNanaya doesn't like to waste his time talking until before or after a fight. Also, Tohno wouldn't have resorted to hiding in class rooms and behind desks for Akiha if he was being cocky. Akiha IS inexperienced at killing, Tohno also points out that SIKI's eyes to see life suck compared to his, was that cocky to?
The irritating part about this issue comes from the fact that by definition it isn't against Shiki's own nature to do these horrible acts. Then again Shiki himself is an asshole. One thing to note is that even if it is this sudden urge to kill things and do other horrible stuff, Shiki is still making a conscious effort.
All Nanaya mode does is awaken the demon hunter blood and whatever comes out of it is still Shiki. Case in point Drinking Dreaming mood.

Yeah, Shiki is a complete asshole, the only route I think he has any redeeming quality in is Kohaku's route, Hisuis route was just depressing as all hell, and his obliviousness to Satsuki really annoyed me.
