I know him well and he is going to be a player. He has lots of time to develop his tactical skating. Coaches have to teach kids to stride Back wards and how to pivot in all directions. That is the purpose of the site.
Great illustration Wally. If you watch VERY closely, coaches can see the ice "lost" to the puck carrier at that moment they crossover. The puck carrier gained what looks like 3 - 5 feet on the defender at that instance. Great vid for D AND skating coaches to watch. Further to this, you can see why some (skating) coaches don't recommend any crossovers while gapping. If this D skated bkwds (no crossovers), he wouldn't have lost any "vertical" ice to the atacker thus straighter line to goal
