So for the Moon you could build it out of something like Kevlar? Any chance of building it from glass fibers, or maybe sapphire? I ask because there is so much silicon, aluminum, and oxygen already on the Moon, in the regolith.

We can do this because the moon has much less surface gravity, so the tensile strength of the cable material need not be so ridiculously high.
