  • Who knows why, with a need for topaz-appearing jewels of a specific size, it never occurred to me to use glue with die. Thanks so much. Avenueskier

  • WOW O_O Does this work with Crystal formed Gems too?

  • wow thats really good

    :D

  • its so creative!!! now I know...!!! arigato gusaimasu!!

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi..can you please make a video on how to sew shana's cosplay please ?? I am only beginner in sewing so I don't want to mess it up. ;)

  • Can I add milk or acrylic paint to make it opaque? XD

  • all your vids are so good, but im trying to make a saiyan scouter right now, and cant find any good 'how to' vids, and thought youd have some ideas. i thought i could alter this idea, and make it flat, so i could make a sort of screen. what do you think?^^ id love to have some ideas!^^

  • im going to try this and i seen the video when u went to japan one of my life long dreams is to go to tokyo and learn japanese

  • I tried using oils rather than inks, and it came out as matte and not shiny and semitransparent like this one. Can the oils be the reason pls?

  • amazing!!! *w*

  • Can we get the hot glue from HOMEFIX or something... and where did you buy the chain? And yeah, I live in Singapore. Going to ComiFest 2?

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I LOVE YOUR IDEAS AND VIDS!!!!

  • just awesome *_*

  • u could just go into a antec shop and buy one of those for about... 10 bucks u know?

  • Thumbs up for Shakugan No Shana. I cosplay Shana and I only met one other person who has. Too few people know of this anime.

  • any idea how to make clear/translucent shiny gems

  • What if u wanted to make one in the shape of a prism?

  • Hmm.. one hand: my life or other hand: be smart and buy one instead..

..thanks for the tutorial but.. it looks like it's too much effort..

    ill rather not waste time

  • where did u get ur wig!? very cute cosplay and great tutorial!

  • If you can make the gem on the inside what about the metal outside and stuff?

  • going to try this~ xD

  • @shootbird

    ouch i just burned myself~ but i got what i wanted~ and i using food coloring~ :X

  • What kind of ink is good for coloring?

  • @MirrorWink I used the red ink from an old and almost dried up ballpoint pen xD

  • @elpheal How do you get the ink out of the pen? ; w ;

  • can i use lemonade sirup for the coloring ?XD i cant figure out where i can get colouring so fast...

    Nice vid!

  • @jocoolmen I don't think syrup would work... you can just get the ink from old marker pens or buy them from a bookstore.

  • OMG!!!!! this was so cool! i never knew you could do this!! i watched some of ur videos n they have helped so much! thanks for uploading!

  • Try resin. You can still get a shinny gem but you have to be in a well ventilated area or outside to use it. Not only does it smell bad from what I hear but it's bad for you to breath it in. There are all sorts of tutorials online that explain how to make them. You can even add foil to the back of the gem to make them shinnier. Unfortunatily I have never tried resin but from what I've seen in videos they look very beautiful. Maybe you can give it a try next time.

  • @CrimsonEevee Resin's the best. But they cost a lot more.....

  • @elpheal Cost is something to think about. I thought it was cheap. Oh well it was only a thought. Resin is what I plan to use if I ever need to make gems since it seems easy to me.

  • Can't I just use a candle? I don't have a lighter nor a gas stove.

  • wait but how do you make teh thing that wraps around the gem?

  • Yay!!! Thank you very much Kaika~ this will be very helpful to make Luka's gem on her collar~~~ :DDD

  • is it possible to use food color dye instead of ink with the hot glue?

  • you are amazing when it comes to making things for cosplay, I bet you are great at crafts in general! Your costume is absolutely fantastic!

  • I try making one and i thought it was easy but it wasn't i burn my finger when i touch the glue

  • yay! Kotoko! >< I love the song.

  • Omg thank you! :D

I'm gonna be shana next year I think! XD

This helped alot although I might buy mime this is always a option lol

  • Can you use food coloring or does it have to be ink?

  • I so wanna do that now

  • This looks like something dangerous I'd come up with. >.> Careful not to burn your hands. ><

  • would liquid silicone work aswell??

  • You know what would be easier and safer? Colored sculpey and gloss paint/varnish

    :o

  • from where did you get the main part ?

  • Using a cheap, plastic mold and pouring the liquid glue into it may work just as well. Once the glue is set, you can just pop out the glue or break the mold. The glue is a great idea, though. It would make a nice, transparent gem. O:

  • dang I'd love to try this cuz they look so pretty but I'd be petrified of the whole fire aspect of the process :(

  • Would heating the glue after adding the color and casting it in a mold work as well? (Especially if you were looking for an odd/precise shape and aren't the best with your hands.) I'd assume as long as you coated the mold it work fine? Ah, but I'd probably mess it up. Hence, I'm asking. XD

  • @LemonFairyLili I'm guessing it would will but u probably need a good mold? And getting it out of the mold might be troublesome. EIther way, try it out and let us know if it works ^^?

  • Wow this it really really greate! thank you!

  • Thank You so much for this tutorial *w* Really appreciate it!! ^__________^

But... OMFG. I'm going to have to buy a lot of hot glue sticks for my Emperor Lelouch cosplay *A* OTL.

  • reall y helped

  • Kaika I love your videos, thank you very much for taking the time to do them. <3

  • @dw1vfw Second that^^

  • OR we could just use red fimo clay

    bake it in the oven

    and glaze it

    its effortless and non dangerous

this is how i did it the outcome is pretty much the same o___o

    nice video though

  • @dikkelinda I've never used fimo clay before but from what I see, its not semi transparent unlike Hot glue. Which is really the whole point of using it for gems.

    Thanks for the suggestion though!

  • any wares that can be microwaved qnd withstand high temperature will do.

I used an old hydrating gel's glass container here.

  • and the glue wont come off when i hold it over the flame? (i half to know this so i don't do something im going to regret later)

  • huh? The flame is supposed the melt the glue so we can sculpt it.

  • oh,i see..i was sorta cunfused..like i wouldent want to ruin my stove or something :S

  • I also thought of using hot glue for the shana necklace but I didn't really know how I'd do it..

    thanks for the tutorial :D

  • this is perfect I need to make gems for my momo costume but everytime i try it the glue sticks wont melt and ill leave them in the micro for like 10mins.

  • I don't know how to get blue flames.. Where can i get lighters for that? I don't have an open stove ]=

But awesome tutorial! Just wish i had a cosplay that needed gems XD

  • ah thank you so much!!! :D

  • hard core cosplayer :D although i can but it at a store for only 10$ but wheres the sense of accomplishment in that :P

  • That's awesome!

  • better than resine, and cheaper.

    Thanks

  • Ah awesome!

Wouldn't it be easier to maybe use a hairdryer when you're trying to melt it the second time instead?

  • Comment removed

  • This would probably work great for the Shikon no Tama form InuYasha too!

  • Just so I know before I do this...does melting the glue give off a smell?

  • Could I use a candle flame instead of a lighter or stove?

  • I really don't recommend that because candle flames are usually orange . And those flames creates black sooth on hot glue D:

  • as for lighters, what would you recomend? the only lighter i know that produces a blue flame is the "Zippo Blu" lighters and those are like $60 USD and its not worth wasting my money for it

  • I want to try this...not for cosplay, but for some new jewlery!

  • That is so cool!

  • Wow, excellent idea and excellent tutorial! Thanks a lot! ^-^ I was afraid of using microwave and stove but it turned out not that hard. I had different problem: I couldn't take the glue gem out of this tin can xD. Just after setting the gem on fire, it was too melted, and later, it was too strongly secured to tin can. In the end I unsticked the gem, but could you explain how long do you wait before you take the gem out of tin? ^^ I would be very thankful ^^ .

  • HAha I believe I let it cool overnight or something like that. Use a knife or somethign to slide the gem out ;)

  • How dangerous do you think this project is?

  • This is really creative! I'll have to try it one day, once I find a good source of blue flame.

  • I used lighters (the sort people use for their cigarettes) to do the 'finer melt and pinch' sculpting xD

  • That is awesome. Scary, but awesome =D

    Thank you! <3

  • So this is how my friend made her own gems and costume jewellery......

Hey maybe I can use this for any other shiny things apart from gems!

  • How did you make the wiry frame thingy?

  • I twisted the wires manually with some tools ^^;

  • Shoot.I got a electronic stove...

  • I believe it should work too^^

  • Oh my god, thanks, you were really helpful. :O 'couse i'm gonna cosplay Shakuga no Shana this year.

  • Good luck to ur costume^^!

  • I'm definately going to have to try this when I'm making my Magatama, is there any particular type of ink you would reccomend, or just any kind?

  • I -think- any kind would do =) I broke an old ballpoint pen to get its red ink XD

  • wow!thx+)ill so try this!!!!

  • i think i would like to use this to help make a necklace for my friends chichiri from fushigi yuugi cosplay

  • Oooooh fushighi yuugi love :D

  • yay! shana! XD i luv how u did alastor XD c, i wanna cosplay as shana since i did another anime cosplay last yr *blah blah blah* and this rly helped! XD thnx! XD

  • I used bendable wires xD

  • you think it's gonna work even for my full metal alchemist's philosophical stone?

  • I think so :)

  • amazing! I once made a jewel out of hot glue but i used a little shaped mold and peeled it out then covered it with nail polish clear. I love yours though! So much better and prettier.

  • WOw~! Sound like a great idea! How did your molded version turned out :>?

  • pretty awesome. but taking it out of the mold is really difficult with out ripping the glue. X(

  • LOL thanks. I was just desperate xD

  • OMG! So cool~!!! You're the bestttt~! ^_^

  • That's great! I'm definately gonna use this method.

  • oohh i love your golden hands)

  • Aww thanks T^T

  • ohhh, that will be helpful!

  • omg thank u tthats so helpful

  • For one thing, you're pretty. And another thing, hot glue is absolutely the most amazing thing in the world. I GOTTA trying this one out =D

  • Aww thanks , make up is my friend =x

And yes! Hot Glue is fascinating!

  • yay!!! I love shakugan no shana!!!!

  • wow!

    u are awesome at this!

  • Wow. Hot glue? That looks amazing! I'm certainly going to use this when I need huge gems. Thanks!

  • you are amazing!

  • wow! you are really good ad this stuff! gonna try it soon! thanx for uploading this!xxxx

  • ^_^!! Thanks!

  • Oh wow! Thank you so much for this! I have some cosplays that I want to do and I was worried about the gems needed.
