  • Beautiful and thanks to share it

  • beautiful song, I'm learning how to play it now

  • I played this easily at 14 year old.

  • Sometimes , Chopin puts this unexplainabe mysterious, romantic and sad feeling into his songs , very fascinating .

  • It's very good...my advice is for second part i b major, play it little softer to make contrast

  • I totally agree, you must be a pro.

Wonderful performance!Congrats! I'm learning this piece now, it's labeled very easy, but I find it difficult especially to play it like you do.

  • Красивая музыка, но в исполнении нет чувств...((((

  • my favorite song i use to know how to play, i beat myself up everyday for quitting

  • man you are pro

  • I tried playing the first page of this piece-- I can play the right hand fine and the left hand fine but I'm having tons of trouble putting them together! This has never happened before. Any advice?

  • You can try playing the right hand along with the base note of the left hand (it goes with the first beat of the rhythm). That way, your left hand will not have to jump, and you might be able to make a start.

  • thanks, ill try it out! wierd, cause waltzes are usually easy to put together :(

  • Nice job.

I have to play this over the summer vacation for my piano teacher.

I have to play waltz in Ab major, B minor, C# minor and prelude in E minor and C minor.

alot of chopin to do for me, huh?

  • Oops, I made a mistake.

    I meant A minor.

  • wow. fantastic.

  • B-e-a-utiful :)

First heard the composer off the game Enternal Sonata

Im so glad i brought that game...

it plays most of his composed songs through-out the game. I had to find them

    Good Job ;)

  • First time I'm hearing about Eternal Sonata. Good to learn a new thing. Thanks.

I'm happy you like Chopin. Enjoy.

  • Hey! Great playing!! I started learning this piece once but it was beyond my ability at the time and I didn't have the patience to learn it. Might try it again in the future though. Keep it up! =)

  • thanks. i like it. if you record it again, could you place the camera in an overhead perspective? i am trying to learn by watching you play in slow motion. but i can't see that well because of the angle.

  • hey, Anan, The left hand must keep a strict tempo, I meant specified tempo, which means left hand don't rubato, your right hand can rubato but not the left hand, if you know what I meant.

  • This is absolutely Beautiful!

I like the way you played it.

  • you need to do more separate practice preferably with a metronome i know you should use rubato but that does not mean out of time just exprssive you also need to vary your dynamics

  • I guess I overdid the rubato at a few spots to the extent where it lost the original beat. With the rhythm for this piece being simple throughout (and maintained by the left hand), I'm not sure whether a metronome would help. I'd like your opinion on this topic. I felt a metronome is more either for pieces where you need to keep a constant tempo, or where the rhythm is complex.

  • Thank you for sharing your performance. I am an older beginner (43F) who just chose an easier version of this piece for my first piano recital. Seeing you play really helped me to understand something super-critical: I am sitting way too close to the piano. So while I can aspire to being expert enough to critique your technique, I just wanted to share a heartfelt thanks with a fellow (far more accomplished) student for helping me to correct my posture and positioning. Thanks again.

  • i like your tempo. i don't like your dynamics- i think they should be more dramatic. this piece is so passionate so it should be played that way. i love it though. thanks for posting it- you're one of the few people competent enough to play it.

  • That was really good! I'm worried about your hands though; they look REALLY tense

  • I thought that my hands weren't all that tense, particularly for this piece. Anyway, it was 2 years ago and I think my technique has changed since. I would think I've gotten more relaxed (and looking at my more recent videos, my hands do seem more at ease). Thanks for the feedback though.

  • Just as a note. I think you should use your arms a little more. you're using your wrists too much... It can be a little more emotionally beautiful if you can use your arms a little more

  • Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. All these are things I never noticed.

  • sakshee00, it is GOOD to have flat fingers, if you like Chopin. Chopin was one of the only pianists to have flat fingers, YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL

  • I would have been very nervous posting this. Everyone does their hands differently. Don't worry. Play like you want to play.

    BLessings.

  • Oh the memories. I took that to competition one year, and its such a beautiful melody.

  • this is fantastic, just vary the dynamics :D

and your hands are a little flat.

(im not one to be speaking here, my hands are extremely flat. but im trying to work on it :D)

  • you're phrasing is a bit choppy yo

  • hope to play this someday!

  • im playing this right now and its supposed to be slower....try it

  • is this posthumous?

  • No. It is Op.69 . I think Op.70 and after was posthumous

  • in my music book it says posthumous but who knows...

  • i don't think there was an op. 70 - this is definately 100% posthumous.

  • this is opus 69 and yes it is posthumous.

  • Your fingers are like spider legs! Brilliant song. :D

  • Thanks

  • Non hai tecnica...guarda quelle dita!! -.-"

  • That was beautiful! Your hands were perfect in hitting the keys just right!

  • I think a riten. would be nice at the ending...

  • did i play like an easier version or something? o_o mine always sound a bit different...

  • jellybelly3: There are different versions/editions of this waltz; some are a bit easier to play than others.

  • oh really? lol. cool xP

  • DYNAMICS!!! way too... bland without it. otherwise, very well played, with minor fingering issues here and there. and your hands are flat - especially the right hand. you'll never make it as a pianist unless you have decent positioning.

  • danehood: Vladimir Horowitz would have been interested to know that he never made it because of his "flat" hands and abysmal finger positioning.

  • i don't know, i'd say horowitz an extremely graceful player. his positioning/fingering is perfect.

  • magnifik

  • This is perfect. =)

  • Awesome!

  • gawd it's lovely......

  • Chopin is the creator of musical flowers

  • @ jasczak... this isnt a brag place. How long have you played piano in comparison to how long he has played? No one knows. I'm not saying don't comment, but dont post here just to brag. I thought the rubato and dynamics were well done. Interesting interpretation on the second part of the 1st "movement". Could do as mentioned and change the rubato slightly, you may have pushed it a couple times. Other then that, nice job.

    P.s. I still liked your rubato =)

  • what's wrong with those fingers??????????

  • Very graceful as it should be...

  • goood :)

  • I think you express just the right amount of feeling in this piece. As mentioned before, Chopin's style is wrought with emotion, and the best way to play his compositions is by varying the tempo and dynamics as you feel them. well done.

  • In my opinion you play this piece with feeling, it sounds great. Iam 19 years old and have been playing for 6 months :-( i hope i can play this piece as good as you can in future. thumbs up :)

  • nowadays do you play any music that you want?

  • Your playing oké but try to do it fluwently. Imagine you're in a train and you don't want to go fast-slow-fast-slow but you just want to go fast or slow. I think then this waltz will go well. :-)

  • you are obviously not a pianist myterjov so I'm going to say politely that I don't think you have the right to comment. this waltz has to be played in this way: it's called "robato" and all Chopin's music has this styly incorporated. plz make sure u know what you are talking about. take it from me, a pianist who has gotten a distinction for every exam grds.1-8.

  • Oké like your advice is probably based on more knowledge about playing the piano and music composed by chopin my advice is based on what I think (wel wich is not so important dear I'm only one of the billion people in the world) I was just trying to show anandramanathan that the piece might be played whith less sauerkraut, just in the beginning. I din't mean to say he played it wrong

  • i agree, but myter can comment if he/she wants haha. myter's comment would be much more useful however if he/she knew chopin's playing style. rubato is one of the main components.

  • WOOO I PLAYED THIS SONGG :D

    good good. but the song is too monotonous =___=;;;

maybe a little more dynamics and it`ll be really good (:

  • how old were you when you started playin piano?by the way the performance was very good

  • I started playing on a keyboard when I was 17 and a piano since I was 23, which was 2 years ago.

  • haha... uh well actually your right hand seems to be having a difficult time too. so my one suggestion (if i could only give you 1): LIFT YOUR WRISTS! it'll allow you to move more freely

  • Do you mean that I should sit higher, which means that my wrists are automatically raised? Or do you mean I should lift it more while playing to allow freer movement? I have tried the former and I don't think it matters much(so long as I don't go any lower), but I may be wrong.

  • i think your pauses are a little too long and rushed into it. if you want to do pauses like that, you should lead up to it like a sign saying i'm going slower and slower.. and then come back in 'a tempo.' i may be wrong on this also, but i think you'd play much better if you raised your wrists because they seem way too low. it makes it look hard for you to play esp. your left hand. overall, good job!

  • Fair. Keep a steady tempo. Watch out for fingerings. And be articulate, you play between notes sometime. TEMPO. And aren't you a little too old to play this. I play this when I am in forth grade.

  • hwliu, that's pretty insulting. i for one know how it feels to be old and first in line for a recital. and some people just play these things for fun, not for technicality or bragging rights

  • I started late. I really feel that it is a matter of enjoying one's playing than trying to reach levels. Also, often, you can do a much better job of coming back to an old piece, especially since you know the piece, are technically more sound and have more ideas. I feel that one is never too old to play a piece as long as one enjoys it.

  • You're right. Keep up working.

  • your right hand almost sounded like a boogywoogy, try to play it egally.

  • I have just been assigned this waltz by my piano teacher. I hope I can perform it half as well as you in my June recital. You have a very nice singing tone. You also have good economy of motion in when you lift your left wrist to control the softness of the 2nd and 3rd beat chords - they sound fine to me and compliment the melody the way I hope to.

    Thanks for sharing it!

  • Thanks for your comment. I did this piece a while ago, then worked on it again recently with my current piano teacher. After playing hands separately, listening to each part and then putting it together, it came out much better. I'm still not technically sound and one can see me struggle on the 2 lines(around 2:19) which involve a double melody on the right hand. Good luck on your playing.

  • I feel like your bass is over powering... try to tone down your left a little... so the melody rings through better...

  • its good but don't change the tempo so dramaticaly somethings

  • aah my first Chopin waltz ! I love it. Well done

  • hi nice job :)

    (i play this too..

i'm wondering.. at the 00:12 ,00:33,01:12 and so on..

it seems you block ur self.. u stop for a second..

u do it on purpose?? or not?

  • It's because he plays one too many notes -- there's only one F# there, and he plays two.

The only other thing I notice is the 3 notes in a row at 2:04-2:08 are perhaps played a little "too equal" -- the first note of the three is a 3/16th and should be played longer, while the second is a 1/16th and should be played shorter.

Well played overall, though, and much better than I can play this!

  • I love the way he plays the two f sharps...E. Kissin does the same thing - and it sounds great!

  • increible...Chopin no tenia igual ,era un poeta autentico del piano.Muy buena la interpretacion
