Toyota trucks around those late 80's and mid 90's are the good Toyota truck years. now the new ones are just too "civilized" to be made to a rock crawler
hey can you let me know what kind of suspension you put on that truck . my 4runner is almost exactly the same, but its still all stock. and i want to restore it to be a rock crawler or mud slinger .
Jeeps have better performance, and have been proven in the military, the Toyotas will never die, most reliable vehicles out there. And I'm a Chevy guy. I've loved Jeeps waaay longer than Toyotas, it's your decision. It's all about having fun and helping eachother out. Oh, and the Taliban's use Toyotas and Nissans lol if that's military.
where do you get solid axles for these? all most every video, a toyota that is supposed to have IFS has solid axles, indicating to me, that it is easy to do. so, is it easy to do and what axles would one swap from?
Most people use a front axle from a 85 or older toyota 4 runner or pickup. Try local salvage yards or online. This axle was salvaged from an older truck we used to wheel and then the frame bent in half so we took the drivetrain out and put it into this 4 runner.
@313foxbody420 You can also go with Land Cruiser axles, Dana 44's, Dana 60's and anything else you want to stuff under it. They make SAS (solid axle swap) kits to fit just about anything. The Toyota 8" solid front axle came standard on the 4x4 pickups from 1979 to 1985.
@DEADFROMMAYHEM Tighten your torsion bars add some spacer under your leaf spring and coils in the front. Its a 3" lift for $150. You can run up to 33" tires. Plus alignment. Ebay
Any idea on what springs this rig is running? I have a 84 4Runner 2Ldiesel that i want to get more flex out of to keep up with a mates Patrol in the rough stuff
They are custom made. I forget the length but they have heim joints in the eye of the leaf spring to allow them to twist in the shackle mount. Works well!
late 80 early 90 pickups and 4runners pratically identical, 1995 wen they changed to tacoma and changed 4runner design out of the pickup chassy. if that makes sense?
jeeps shit, i let a lifetime jeep owner drive my 4runner on a few hillclimbs, first toyota he ever drove, a month later he bought a tacoma and sold his old jeep
that is a toyota for ya
