Well as for the kid standing on the bus, he wasnt breaking any rules. He wasnt standing while the bus was in operation. Operation is considered moving the vehicle. Kids are actually supposed to get up while the bus is stopped. So you basically failed on that one..

Lots of bus stops are at intersections so what are you freaking about about? They have to stop somewhere! And if district makes the stops in the middle of an intersection than that is where it is.

As for that one kid standing, BUS DRIVERS ARE NOT BABY SITTERS, all you can do is say sit down please. Bus drivers are suppose to get the kids safely from point A to point B. oh, and as for the children standing inside the bus, yes, i agree it isn't what you want, but come on, people stand in standard transt busses all the time, we build them to cary 40 siting and 50 standing, and the bus was realy only creeping at no speed at all. and as goes for blockingthe road, true, it isnt seald off, but the trafic has to keep a save distance and is beeing slowed down. if you don't like it, send your kid to school with the subway, and we could do away with these buses alltogeth

first of all, none of the showen is dangerous, in the sence of causeing horrible accidents, because the possible speeds are just so low, that you couldnt do more, then just a bump, second, it might seem outragous for a bus to cross all these lanes, but i still prefere the bus doing it, than the children, after all, that is exactly why they have a door on the left, and third of all, yes, some of it might be illegal, but in such dense trafick i doubt national guidelines are effectivly applicable.

First of all, who ever constructed these bus routes should be fired. You should never have bus stops at intersections likes these.

Exactly what ThomasBus said. The driver is blocking the intersection to create a barrier for the kids.

And it is very difficult to keep every child in their seat at all times.

I am sure if you contacted the bus contractor with your concerns and inquiry, they would help you to understand what procedures those drivers are doing.

Their actions may not make sense to you, because you are not a school bus driver.

I watched this video again. You're right, of course it's against procedure, but if you notice, when a bus stopped on the left side of the road like that, no children were crossing the empty lanes to get to the right side. By keeping the bus angled like that, the drivers weren't necessary blocking traffic, but they were providing a barrier for the kids who needed to get to the lefthand curb. Then, their manuever to the far RIGHT lane was to drop off the kids on who needed to get to that side.

So, the drivers may not have been trying to keep traffic from passing, rather they were trying to keep the kids as safe as possible by providing a physical barrier between kids and traffic that isn't stopping anyway. Would you rather have the kids get off on the right hand side and have to cross all of those lanes of traffic, and just hope everyone stops for the flashing red lights?

My father in law drove a school bus. On one of the roads that he went down, an old railroad crossing was there. The train tracks on either side had been torn up, only the tracks in the street were still there. Not even a rrxing sign anymore. Obviously to anyone with a brain, no trains used them unless they can go over grass and dirt. He never bothered to stop for them and drove right over them. Somebody actually called on him and reported him one time for not stopping at the train tracks!
