I remember this airing on TV in 1976.

I was in 1st grade and the girl who babysat me was SO excited The Beach Boys were gonna be on TV.

I could not believe how bad I thought it was.

I didn't get the jokes obviously.

Picture a 6 year old kid scratching his head and saying to her,"This is stupid."

It's a good thing they weren't really serious; you gotta be in shape to go surfing. It's very hard work; could've killed him in the shape he was in then.

I'm happy to hear Brian has overcome many of the problems he had on and off for over 25 years, because he is a pricinpal member of a great group of hitmakers, whose popularity has never waned.

Think Brian was interviewed by Rolling Stone magazine. This was a stunt. They had a coverpicture of Brian from the same beach with the surfboard.

when i first got into the beach boys i had a thought that if anyone was THAT good and prolific at music from that early an age, THEN it would make sense that he probably never got out in the sun, much less surf. (he aslo appears pale in early color photos of the band) sure enough I have found some writings that say he is afraid of the water, the backwards surfboard exemplifies how much brian understood ACTUAL surfing. AND his Brain is scrambled. but who doesnt love Brian Wilsons music?

Very observant... on everything.. the backwards surfboard, his pale skin, scrambled brain. But, when I was a teenager, I really connected with his situation. I had an overpowering, micromanaging father. It helped me to accept my mental condition when I realized that he had problems, too.
