This is only a half finished demo of a song & unfit for commercial release. U2 have been getting away with this sort of thing since Zooropa. The only reason that they`re getting away with it is that their huge fan base will buy anything with "U2" stamped on it regardless. If they were unknowns this sort of stuff wouldn`t even get an A & R call back.

I think it's someone who is about to commit suicide, and gets a call from an "unknown caller" just before they can do it. The song is the conversation that follows. Supposedly the unknown caller is in fact God.
It does make some sense if you listen to it, especially when you think of the interviews the band have given about the song...

This is only a half finished demo of a song & unfit for commercial release. U2 have been getting away with this sort of thing since Zooropa. The only reason that they`re getting away with it is that their huge fan base will buy anything with "U2" stamped on it regardless.
