Rama killed Vali the way he did b'cos Vali had a boon that he'd gain half the strength of whoever he's fighting, in addition to his own. How does Ravan being a follower of Sita have anything to do w/ whether Ramayan is real or fake?

The version that they used was certainly not Valmiki, Vyasa, Kamban, Tulsidas... It may have been one of the more exotic versions, like Ananda Ramayan
Somwhere I read that soopnakha married against the wishes of Ravan and after a long fought battle, Ravan Killed soopnakha's husband, till then she was finding a way to end Ravan and found the oppurtunity in Panchavati.

@humbleRaj In Valmiki, Shurpanakha was married first, and then they had Ravan marry Mandodari and so on. It's mentioned in the Uttarkand. Ravan did kill Shurpanakha's husband b'cos he was defending a pataal ruler who defied Ravan's conquest. However, Shurpanakha accepted Ravan's award to her of the Dandaka forests and support of Khar-Dushan, and didn't keep the enemity.
Surprisingly, in this serial, Sita once accused Shurpanakha of exactly what you were wondering.
Aap sach keh raha hei jo yeh kabhi nei hua (it may have been from one of the fringe Ramayan editions like Ananda Ramayan) However, you are warned - this is the first and last time I'm tolerating this sort of language. As an example, I hated the Uttarkand part of what they showed, completely distorting the entire story.
