It's a real shame that good people like her have to go through so much turmoil in life. George's father got what he deserved in the end. Too bad it didn't happen sooner and saved them all some hardship.
3:18 Absolutely, staying with her husband and raising her children with such a violent man had a damaging effect on all the kids. There's no question about that.

I thought this documentary was very interesting, and I could relate with it . My Father too was like Boy Georgie's Dad. My Father also mentally and physically abused my mother in front of us, his 4 kids. My father who is now in his late 60s, has changed somewhat and is more mellow as he aged. I really enjoy this documentary, and I pray for Dinah, Boy George ( who is one of my favorite singers from the 80s), and his whole family. Thanks for sharing!
A heart- breaking story. George has a very wise mother. I absolutely agree with Richard and I now understand where the sadness in George's eyes comes from.
You have no clue. George said in an interview he purposely left that out. All the fans were saying what a great guy George's father was when he died and they couldn't understand why George had a weird reaction to his father's death. But when I read George's mother's book it all made sense. Tell me on what page of TILAM George talks about his father beating his mother.
But George's family does love the spotlight. Kevin thinks he's some great fashion designer when in fact his clothes are horrible. Kevin loves being worshipped by George's fans. A lot of people's families are real but they aren't in the media all the time. George's family puts themselves in the media because they love the attention.
Please do me a favour! She stayed with an abusive man and subjected her children to violence. So much so Gerald went on to murder the most beautiful woman in the world, whom he should have loved and cherished. I will never forgive him, or his dysfunctional family. He never served a prison sentence for this heinous crime, just a couple of years in a hospital. Then he was free to live his life.
I am still a fan of Boy George by the way. He was the most thoughtful person during this tragic time.
@wendywilkinson100 The reason Gerald did that was because he had a mental illness such as schizophrenia. Whatever the dysfunctons of George's family they didn't cause his mental illness. That is a chemical imbalance in the brain that is genetic.
Oh come on.....u cannot meen, what u write...MssSmartiespants2?
U do not know anything about their lives, Dinah, is a STRONG woman, and it´s a STRONG family. It´s "easy" for u, to say = "What George´s father did, was wrong"....i hate ur oppinions bvadr! Sorry ..........Oh come on? In the media "too much"??The O´Dows are in the media, bnot because of "other" stars" but "because" they are REAL! ;)
What George's father did was wrong, but I think it's sad this is all brought after he died when he can't defend himself. In TILAM, George never said his father beat his mother. I wish they would all just let G's father rest in peace. I like G's family but it seems to me they all like being in the media a little too much. I don't see the family of other stars in the press trying to get publicity.
@irshgrl500 You're wrong. In TILAM and in interviews. George did say his father hit him and his brothers, but he never mentioned that his father beat his mother. George said he left that out because his father and perhaps his mother didn't want it in there. Read TILAM again. He mentions his parents arguing verbally but nothing physical between them.
@MsSmartiepants2 No I am not wrong. George said his father beat his mother in his book "Take it like a Man". Your replies are no longer signicant because you have no idea what you are talking about.
Thank u shocadelia for sharing! What a woman! God bless her and her lovely family. She did an awesome job raising her children. I have never heard once of them c/o how their mum raised them. Sendy hugs and love to the o'dowd family.xxx
She always has presented herself through the years she's been in the public eye with such dignity. It's amazing what women deal with @ the hands of their husbands. I have more respect for you Dinah than ever before. May you be blessed with happiness & love from your children & the public @ large. You so deserve it.
I never realized she had endured this much. I had heard some of the stories, but this is just....I don't know how she did it. I hope Dinah can finally find some happiness.
Dinah Odowd is One Strong and Brave Woman. May God continue to Bless You and Your Family. I Thank You for giving us Your Beautiful Son George Alan Odowd " Boy George "
