Supra may have slightly more torque than the GT-R, but it's heavier. it weighs 3485.

An r34 gt-r weighs 3395 and has about the same actual power stock (320 vs 320).

the gt-r makes up for it by being lighter

and the higher curb weight hurts the Supra.

on paper the supra should win from the extra torque, but not in real life. it needs drags to get ANY of the power down and it's Heavier by almost 100 lbs. that plays against it

It's greatly underestimated by many, the supra, and that needs to change.

The only thing Skyline has over Supra is the looks. The supra is butt ugly!. But it is a better car. The power-train is stronger has more torque and is RWD. All this makes for a better street car than the Skyline.

Almost 4 seconds quicker, thats a lifetime on race track. GTR's are ultimate track weapons, and Supra never really had any motorsport background other than drag racing.

Imo it's clearly more fun to have a nicely modded 500-700whp GTR that can do awd slides around corners and feel as planted like you would be going only 20mph. Compared to 1000whp Supra that runs 9s only on strip and spins first 3 gears on highway.

I'm not saying Supra is bad, it's a really great car like GTR.

@makexxx That's not true. Your thinking is the reason why the stereotype of supra's only being able to go in a straight line exists. It started when people put 20" rims on their supra, with stock brakes, stock suspension, then they slap a huge laggy turbo, and are surprised that the car doesn't handle and isn't as responsive. IF you do it correctly a supra is an amazing FR track machine with perfect balance. It's just cuz power is so easy to get from a 2JZ, pple forget about the rest.

It's not "better" designed, the engineering that both Nissan and Toyota put into these cars was incredible. The mk4 supra is now over 20 years old, and if you didn't know, you wouldn't be able to even tell. Not to mention the mk4 was released 1993, the R34 was released around 2000/2001+, and yet the supra is still a competitor.

I´d say the Skyline is on an entire different level than the supra. the skyline weighs almost a 100kg less being an ALL WHEEL DRIVEN car - that´s a hell of an achievement. on public roads a supra is not going to hook up at all if you modify it. rear wheel drive @ 1.6 tons @ 52% front weight @ brutal turbo power curve. try to put power to the ground with those specs. the skyline on the other hand - much lighter, still one of the best AWDrivetrains ever and just about the same engine potential

That Skyline I believe still has a RB25DETT, My friend has one of those, but he got the RB26DETT which is illegal in the States and he dynoed it without the Restrictor plates to make it street legal and it was pushing 600+hp to the wheels....

There is no RB25DETT.

The car in this clip has an RB26DETT, as do all GTR's.

The 26 isnt illegal in the states, there are a bunch of them over there.

There is no "restrictor plates", there is a restrictor in the wastegate vaccum hose but removing that alone will only get you about 300hp@the wheels.

EVERY GTR from R32 to R34 has an RB26DETT. The RB20 is in R32 GTST, and the RB25DET is in R33 GTS25T and the R34 GTT. We have all these cars in Australia and i have owned or driven most of them unlike you in America who has only seen them on dvd's or the net.

And no, there are about 50 legally registered GTR's in the US (California is not the whole US) with the RB26 in them.
