  • One half m was one of the two terms on the left side..

  • every math is easy just like video games the more you do it the better you get :) also no one is dumb cause my brother has a learning disability and has a high school diaploma

  • Math makes no sense.

  • Fuck i'm dumb:(

  • why did he skip 1/2

  • These are the kinda teachers that make u stop goin 2 these classes.. so hella boring.... i came 2 learn not to sleep u bitch ass nigga teacher u......

  • @JHITSALICK HAHAHA

  • Thumbs up if you didnt understood a word he's saying XD

  • @jessmjfan989 LOL

  • fuck off math D:<

  • No comprendo :(

  • sigh this is gonna be hard i have not did anything in school ever now i've been out of highschool for 4 years on top of that lovely

  • xO

  • Its been over 10 years since ive been in h.s. and ummm i cant understand why we have to know this math to pass :/ ive NEVER EVER used this since i got out of high school.

  • If any one knows a spot where i can pay a couple hundred bucks to get my GED with out the stupid test hit me up ill reward u...i really need it dont got the time 2 study and go trew all this BS.

  • OHMYGOD ! this guy makes this looks 10 times harder, can you at least be more energetic man !

  • OH MY GOD FUCK MY LIFE THIS SHIT IS TOO HARD.

  • Is this as hard as the GED gets? I have a high school diploma, took calculus in high school. It seems to me if you drop out at age 16, which is around idk 11th grade, get a GED, you can start college earlier? Sounds like a deal to me!

  • ok so why do the 2's cancell out???

  • @teaminitiation The twos cancel out because 1/2 of 2 is one, and one times anything always equals that number. In this case, m and -3.

  • this shit is sooo easy....

  • DO you know how to work this out ? A : 2A/3 = 8+4A ** I just can't can't remember how to do it, over 15 years since i learn :-(

  • you have to basically shut up and do the math, because you don't want to have to rely a guy yo support you because those days are over with and besides, I could never do that to a guy that's just bullshit!

  • U only Fail if u quit

  • Man, I feel everyone that tells me to just do it! And I know that I could deal with the rest of the shit they throw at you, to be able to get your GED. But I don't get Math! IT'S A FUCKING WASTE! >:/

  • How come on the right side, the 2's crossed out each other. But on the left side he muliplied it? Why not multiply the left side as well?

  • to break this down step by step: 1/2m -5 = 3/2 take 2 (common denominator) and multiply each side by 2, to get rid of fraction. 2 times 1/2m =2/2m =1m =m, and 2 times -5=-10, so we have: m - 10 = now the right side of equation: (-3/2) (2) = cancel out 2=-3 m - 10 = -3 m - 10 = -3 (+10) isolate 10 to the right side, by changing -10 to +10 m = -3 +10 m = 7 hope this helped
  • wtf.

  • whatt 7 how u get 10+3 is 13 nd-10+10 is 0 right? man im gonna flunk this test nd have to pay another $50 dam nd i scored above averge on all the others

  • 1:18 just do

    m= -3+10

    m= 7

    simple...

  • did he get 7 by substracting? what?

  • wait, how did he get 2 x 1/2m is just M?????

  • @JokerKlownX because 2 X 1/2m = 2/2m = 1m and you don't need to express a coefficient of 1 so it's just m.

  • @JokerKlownX

because 2 times 1/2 = 1 (whole); (or two times half an apple is a whole apple, or 1/2+1/2=1); so instead of saying 1m, he just writes m (which is one m). Hope this helped.

  • ... is this video a joke?

  • Taking my GED tomorrow.....GULP

  • yay i learned how to do 1 problem=/

  • whats the point of this? shouldnt he be explaining HOW to solve the problem instead of just solving it? Im pretty sure the people who know this kind of math aren't watching this video...

  • This guy looks like that nerdy kid from iCarly. He's the worst teacher i've ever met! But I do know how he did it.

  • ugh but do you multiply by 2 for all fractions? & why add 10?? im soo lost!!!! help me!! my test is in 10 days!!

  • o my god en que lio me meti

  • do you know what kind of math they teach for the GED in Alabama

  • People thing I'm a genius, untill the see me do math -_- I need to learn this stuff asap, so far I've scored a 530 on science, 630 on social studies, 430 on reading and 450 on writing, I HAVE to score a minimum 420 to have my average above 450 to be able to take my GED test. Does anyone have any sort of website that would be a great study guide for this test? Any replys will help.

  • @SuperxStormx I bet they think you're a genius until they see you spell too.

  • What the hell is this (m) when the hell did letters make there way into math this is all bullshit fuck math i gotta take my g.e.d and this is the bullshit i gotta deal with what happen to 8times8 or 1000plus5798 wtf is this m shit get those stupid letters out this aint spelling

  • PLEASE READ!!! I teach GED classes in Nebraska. There is NO WAY IN HELL they will have fractional coefficients on the GED Math Test. This guy is a good teacher, but he's showing the wrong stuff and making it WAY too complicated. You can miss ALL the algebra questions on the test and still pass. BTW: My classroom averages 58 graduates per year, I know what I'm talking about. This would be a good lesson for ACT Prep. It is a horrible lesson for GED Prep.

  • @joesteinbock thx man!!!:)

  • A fraction?? (My mom said) Lmao

  • I wanna cry v.v

  • @theproducer64 Me too.. :(

  • Its never too late , do u really want to end up working at blockbuster video ? or manager at mc donalds or at a bestbuy all your life? times wasting , quit your job and study , remember always " just do it " dont think just DO IT .

another way is , look at a person who is dumb and has his diploma, how did he get it ? hes a dumbass !!! u can too

dont u want to be a firefighter ? police ? hygeinist ? Im taking a optician course this year , screw my job cant work these jobs forever .

  • @EVILAKUMA i work at tj maxx making shit money now im at a crossroads so im going to get my GED i would definitly rather get my high school diploma but since time is so little to me and there wanting 400 usd per SEMESTER i cant do it so hopefully with this i can start my study of the job i always wanted wich is a video game designer i am 19 btw

  • @blood2280 have you checked out any adult schools in your area? They only charge me $5. a class. I didn't have to take that many classes. I only have 3 classes left. Plus I have to take the Math CAHSEE (california high school exit exam) I already took and passed the English CAHSEE those both test are free. I also have to take the GED which is $120

  • @expandingmymind yes i was doing the adult highschool program for my highschool diploma but since the funding ran low the adult school was cancelled and now the only night school around is like 30 minuets away and charges 100 dollers per class each semester and since i need all 4 im guessing bam 400 usd every 3 months

  • gawd jebus i fricken hate math!!!!

  • Seriously? -_- I was expecting him to at least repeat the stuff, like when he said m = 1/2, then went on to the other part of the equation, I forgot that m is 1/2 beCAUSE I was too distracted by the OTHER part of the equation that I forget m is 1/2. That's the main reason why I failed math in nearly every grade in school, because the teacher didn't repeat the first part of what everything equaled, or because I have to memorize which letter is which number, whos the idiot that let letters in math

  • @Zutiiq Thats what the rewind option is for

  • Im in Algebra 2 and is that really as hard as the math portion of the GED gets? Thats a fuckin joke, as soon as a saw the problem i was like "are you kidding me?" Let people get their GED as complete dumbasses its ok. wow

  • This shyt aint even call for math like this is unnecessary

  • even if your kids be fightn you can still learn something.one time i had a party at my house and my books got lost. i told my teacher i cant be finding my books to study for his stupid tests he be tripin.that man is always talking about learning how to write right. i be knowing how to write a long time ago.

  • anyways i always study for my tests when i gets home from school.all i have to do is just open the book next to me and look at it when a commercial come on the t.v. this is the fastest way to study for a test. it doesn't matter what the test is going to be about just open the page.

  • easy shit, I could do it in my sleep.

  • This is so funny xD It's way easier than what we do in France...

  • The thing that pisses me off is that i have no problem with math. Its the damn word problems that get me every time......

Where can i go to find out how to translate GED level word problems into equations?

  • ???

  • I HAVENT BEEN TO SCHOOL IN ABOUT 14 YEARS...WENT TO THE LIBRARY AND BORROWED ''ACE THE GED BOOK....ONE WEEK...I PASSED EVERY SUBJECT THE FIRST TRY EXEPT MATH

  • i need my GED , but im afraid of failing the test :/

  • why ten?

  • math with letters is BS! Who invented this BS?

  • guys chill out with the comments..lol

  • HES JUST MAKING SHIT UP AS HES GOING ALONG THE 2S WILL CANCEL OUT THEN WE WILL ADD 10 HERE ITS RETARDED

  • This shit is so fucking gay its pointless

  • this is why i hate math:( random numbers popping up!

that 2 came outta nowhere, then 3/2 2 cancelled the 2 for some reason..WHICH is confusing as fuck:(

  • i noe dis teacher his from yonkers.dat was my teacher for history class.so i drop out.

...dis math looks hard but id doesnt

  • Man this shit looks so complicated.. Brings me back to the days when i was in school and every1 knew what they were doing but me. But i need to try to learn cause if i pass my ged i get a car

  • @TheeNameIsBrandon Me too^^

  • @TheeNameIsBrandon You want to pass your ged for a car? How about a future?

  • is getting your ged the same as getting your hs diploma or is the ged a lot worse than a hs diploma?

  • is getting your ged the same as getting your hs diploma or is the ged a lot worse than a hs diploma?

  • this is better than Ambien

  • I dropped out of school because I had problems while in school. I didn't get along with anyone, was fighting everyday, so finally in my second year of highschool I said "Eff it" And never came back.

I am 19 right now, and studying for the GED test. Can anyone tell me if it is really hard. I am okay at math, but I am not the best. The only thing I am worried about on the test, is math.

  • @darkenedavatar i took a practice GED test at a local college i attended for the spring semester a few months ago and the math was very complicated for me. the only thing you may need to work on. there are ALOT of word problems and graphs to solve. everything is else (reading/Language arts, social studies, science) those are easy. and you may wanna brush up on your writing skills as well if have a hard time writing. but anywho the math is the REAL problem for me and alot others

  • I got a 500 in math my first try. To anybody out there who is scared of the math....DON'T BE!!! It's EASY. I didn't get ANY geometry on my test. All I got was fractions, ratios, decimals, and 2 graphs. Trust me. There's none of this algebra shit on it. I know!

  • Why does it matter as long as the goal (COLLEGE )is reached? Sorry, you feel like it's a short cut. However, I bet my life that the GED test is more extensive than your four years of High School. When college students were giving the GED test to take for a study. Why did the majority of the students fail the GED test? Because, like I said all you have to do is be there for attendance or roll call. I'm done squandering my time with and on you. Have an AWESOME day.

  • You think this math is hard. Your retarded.

  • @fugiboo You said, "You think this math is hard. Your retarded.". It's actually "You're" retarded. =)

  • My question is: the number 2 that you add ,are you using the denominator number ?

  • what a nerd

  • For me the Ged is got bad vibe to me not sure if I can get a better job with a GED then a High School and I'm 28, So I'm have to do a online high school that will only take 2 years or less at least with online stuff you don't need to do four damn years of the same old stuff,,Before you say I'm a quitter I'm not I have had to take care of my mother seen I was 13 and times got hard and had to support the family,,I just wish the Government would make more it illegal to not take someone with a GED

  • Your a fucking fool and that is all I can say.. You act like you got a certificate of attendance for just showing up. If you graduated already why are you here checking this article out? How dare you knock these people who are trying to better themselves? High School is not for everyone and with people like you I see why people drop out and why Columbine occurred. Everybody isn't you and you sure ain't every damn body so go somewhere and eat a dick you fucking moron.

  • @jakeblack1982 Man , your 28 ,,,take the GED . Its faster and if you do well colleges will accept you (i scored 750/800 on math and got in a four year university ) . High school doesn't matter as much as what you do in college . So my advice is get into a free ged prep program then take the test . You'll feel so much better (believe me) once you receive your diploma . Either way Best of luck !

  • ugh

  • Dude go get a girlfriend fucker!!

  • Thanks for this refresher! I'll be taking the tests for my G.E.D august 11-12. while I'm sure I'll pass easy (I've had a lot of encouragement and help), I'm trying to keep the information floating around in my head just to be on the safe side.

  • For all of those people out there who say the GED is lesser than a High School Diploma, think again. There have been extensive tests showing that 1/3 of GED graduates out perform High School Graduates, plus what does your High School degree or GED matter once you have a College Degree?

  • @MCShaugh , Those high school degrees don't matter at all once you have a college education. If you graduated from a private school like I did in 1981 and they don't have a record of it in public state offices, obtaining a college education or completing that education can be more than challenging.

  • i just need to get this so i can go into the navy

  • I enjoyed the video. I'm currently in ABE preparation at College to get the GED before I can enroll for a Degree. I graduated from High School and I was already told a hundred million times that I got a certificate of completion because I couldn't pass the SAT test. However, I looked in my collections and found the High School Transcript and it shows that I graduated in 1991 and was awarded a Standard High School Diploma. Anyway, I hope to do well in GED.

  • jk, yes sir! :)

  • break it up bitches

  • wait what?

  • It may be simple but shit..don't act like your some supreme being ffs

  • Correction to my original post:

Replace GED in my last sentence with ACT.

  • I was taken out of public school in 7th grade soon after Hurricane Katrina.

I was "home schooled", but, in my case, that was just myself, as my mother had to work long shifts just to help us live. I was left to my own devices and decided I'd learn at my own pace, which ended up being much faster than I was going in Public school.

Last year, I got my GED at the age of 16 in (supposedly) the top 5 percentile and I got free tuition for two years at a community college for my GED score.

    (continued)

  • (continued)

Now, here I am, 17 years old with scores in the high 90's (99.5 for my C++ class and 95 for Calculus I), and I'm ready to take on anything.

Don't ever think that getting a GED makes you less than a high school graduate. There are circumstances where you are just not able to get a diploma, and a GED is your only option. You are just as good as that high school graduate, you can do whatever they can, all you need to do is set your mind to it.

Good luck on your GED exams. :)

  • As much as I hate math , I will learn it and pass the test !!!!!

Sick or running away from it , I need to pass my GED.

  • totally agree!

  • @EVILAKUMA I feel the same way, I hope you were able to finish! I have 2 weeks to study 4 years of math lol!

  • @EVILAKUMA No lie...I've failed the Math portion twice. I'm ready to give the heck up and die lol. But I need my GED. So I guess ill keep trying too.

  • @EVILAKUMA Yea! me too. I really have to get this ...

  • @EVILAKUMA

Have you taken your test? how did you do?

  • @EVILAKUMA Hi there, do you know any site where I can review with my GED? I would really appreciate it. Thank you

  • shit i need to getz me a ged

  • Joe quit smoking the crack, it makes you look crazy and sound like a selfrighteous asshole.

  • OMG!!

    M = 7

  • 2 times 1/2 m is just m ? I'm sure its true but tell us the process of how you got this answer, don't just assume everyone is as smart and fast as you. A friend of mine has ADD and it takes a little while longer for me to understand.

    lmao ....."a friend" :P

  • alright. It's pretty simple. 2 halves = 1

    1/2 m times 2 = 1 M

    It''s 1st grade spongebob!

  • math is a whole other language and, I don't have the rosetta stone to crack it.

Why in the hell did they have to add letters to it? Like it wasn't complicated enough!

  • Comment removed

  • @blueinu26 hate math

  • Comment removed

  • @blueinu26 math isn't even a language (only driven from Egypt really.)

    Its a study!

  • @blueinu26 The letters just stand for numbers you don't know, or can't clearly define. You can literally replace them with shapes or symbols lol. (3 [puppy] + 2 [puppy] = BAD DOG). If they're like terms (2x + 3x), just ignore the "x" and add 2+3, then write "x". It just isolates each coefficient to like terms, so you know which ones you can play with, and which ones you can't. (like blood types. You can't give a blood to a b person lol, they die.)

  • @blueinu26 i agree Ha!

  • @blueinu26

    Hey there,

Math is like another language to me too.

Have you taken your test? Did you pass it?

I feel like there's no hope for me. :(

  • tht was easy...I solved it in like 20 sec

  • Thank you. I am 60 a grandmother and I want to take some classes at a local college. I have been out of school for decades. My memory is sooo rusty...

That's why you're doing ppl on here so much good. My daughter is a Dr. My husband is an engineer. I am too embarrassed and don't want my friends and family to know I can't do this. But you're here...so maybe it will help. Thanx

  • Okay, I am a sophomore and I just dropped out after my 1st semester. I plan on taking the GED next month. But seriously, I learned how to do that in like 8th grade and it's so easy!!

  • a sophmore in high school? i think you might have to wait until your graduating class is graduated before you are even eligible for the G.E.D...

  • No you can take it as soon as you drop out in Kansas. Of which you may drop out at the age of 16 with a parents approval as I did. When my old class will graduate I will be almost 19 so no.

  • interesting - what i could find is:

    * Must be at least 18 years of age or older * Must be a resident of Kansas * Must have withdrawn from a regular high school program for at least six months * Not a high school graduate

    Bet of luck bro!

  • same here so i am going to take all my test and go to college early

  • Thanks Man Will Use This To Help Me Out With The Test. I Am Preparing For It Starting Tommorow Cant Wait!

  • if this is on the test im going to pass wit ease

  • does the GED basically replace the highschool diploma?

and for an international student lacking a highschool diploma will the GED and the SAT pretty much grant access to college?

or is there anything else additionally required

  • If I could obtain a "Get out of math for life card", I would have loved school. I dropped out earlier this year, and I'm somewhat regretting it, but things should be okay. School was stressing me out. I'm not the type of person that can sit down for hours at a time trying to learn the same thing hours on end and never stepping forward.. So honestly, as immature as this sounds, and I understand if people take it that way, but FUCK math royally up the ass with a barbed club. My life will be fine.

  • if math wasnt part of school id do great......i totally agree

  • @xIReliable lol. Really.

  • im so serious i love reading and such but math i pull 65s in =/

  • Comment removed

  • @BTD973 lol, looks like language arts what a factor as well.

  • lol..no not at all just said that out of anger this guy cant teach

  • me 2 homie

  • honestly i dont know why i even went to school in the first place

i always get a little pissed if i don't know something and i go and learn it like this vid here(they put me in a int math class after failing algebra) I am 16 now and god damn it I WILL pass

I am tired of being shy and saying "oh i guess I'm average intelligence" mother fucker i did everything at college level and out performed all kids at my school (of course not grade wise i did fail 9th lol)

BTW im gonna be president of USA:D

  • richmanDEranGed is a fucking moron

this isn't close to college math in America

this is more like 8th or 7th grade math

god why am i wasting my time

    what has Finland ever done?

  • o.o

  • Comment removed

  • ...hmm...what if a 'smart aleck' decided

    to change the '5' term to '10/2' ... ? ...

thus making all the terms fractions

    with denominator 2...?

  • Unfortunately for some, having to drop out of high school isn't a matter of not having been able to complete it. What happened with me was more of a personal problem in that I became ill and could not attend traditional schooling. Because of this, I feel it's unfair for some to classify GED recipients under the same conditions as those who seem to lack appropriate grammar and have temper problems.

  • THANK YOU!!! OMG PREACH IT!!! LOL

Seriously though, I can relate to you. I dropped out cuz my home life was crazy. I have always done well in school, but it was getting to the point where I was balancing schoolwork with home life and my mom bitching at me to get a job. I wanted to keep my sanity so I dropped out. Believe me, I thought of everything else to do first, but it just wasn't possible. I couldn't move out nor did I want to switch schools. Anyway, thanks for speaking the truth :)

  • me don't understand why u mutiply the other and not the other side??????????

  • soooooOOOOO bOring ZZZZZZZZZZZ

  • what u mean ur not allowed to go to school???? wtf?

  • I feel smart already.

  • just add 5 to both sides and divide by 0.5

  • with that said, I do believe the GED is a LOT easier, and faster..... but honestly, doesnt that make it the smarter choice?

  • ged's are bullshit

    let me get this straight.

i can make up four years in six hours?

  • i did it and passed

  • Comment removed

  • yup makes alot of sense to me...so when dumbasses like you are still struggling in school and putting up with your teachers bullshit the kid that the whole class thought was stupid bacause he dropped out and got his ged will be making money when your still in school nervouse about the friday math test coming up XDDDD

  • That's not true at all. A lot of homeschool students or students who had to drop out of school to take care of their families choose to get GEDs in place of the diplomas. It didn't mean they were stupid and couldn't make the grade.

If you get a GED and go to a community college for a little while, you can transfer into a university like any highschool graduate can.

You might want to reread your first sentence before you start insulting people.

  • "It turns out a ton of highschool students cheat and get by on sports and keeping their other grades high."

According to whom? Your personal intuition? That's not a valid claim.

It's irrelevant what something was designed to do. The only thing that matters is what it does do. Also, WW2 veterans dropped out to serve their country. Modern high school students drop out because they're degenerates.

Lastly, when you transfer into a four-year college, they still look at your high school record.

  • And in this day and age, homeschooling is perfectly acceptable! In dangerous cities it's frequently becoming a popular choice!

I don't know where you come from but your egotistical statements are ridiculous and outdated.
