  • Overwhelmingly to be in excellent cardiovascular shape you need to have low body fat. But commenters here are right, that lower is not always better-Rocky having at least a little in a hard fight could help him.

  • rocky marciano rocky marciano!! thats they one thats they one!!! HAHAHA

  • powerful little body, only like 185 lbs @ fighting weight....you can tell that he generated alot of his power up thru his strong legs and his forearms are large for a relatively small man as well !

  • Man this guy hit hard... Holy cow he hit hard. Add the fact he was tough as nails... What a combination.

  • YO ROCKY HAPPY BIRTHDAY

THERE ARE NO WINNERS BUT STILL I THINK YOU ARE A TIGER

  • Best conditioned fighter who ever lived..he had to be...he didn't have the natural speed...The Rock worked his ass off in camp...he went to camp months before a fight...he loved to train...he worked himself down to 189 lbs...when he retired in April 1956 he was over 200 lbs...NOBODY worked as hard as Marciano...great power...great chin...great stamina...he kept coming all night long...RIP Champ...

  • nice as pie outta the ring, but a whole other animal in the ring, thats right.

  • I always though that Fedor threw punches just like Marciano

  • No roids there! real fighter

  • In boxing and fighting it's nice to look good but it's not a bodybuilding contest you gotta be in shape and in shape means feeling fine with good cardio. it's not about being ripped guys. Some people perform better with a little bit of fat on em...some don't.

  • what was Rocky eating???

  • @tom88cba chowin down on an apple

  • @notchjohnson1 im going to start eating more apples!!

  • @tom88cba ? an apple

  • compared to most heavyweights he was smaller and lighter , but as shown !!!! awesome ! RIP MR Marciano .

  • grande Rocco Francis Marcheggiano, sangue italiano non mente mai

  • You can see his natural size shine through in this video Marciano although an all time great heavyweight but todays standards he would be a crusierweight

  • is it just me or does rocky have the body of a caveman. damn he look like a tough s.o.b

  • rocky eating an apple at the end like a real man, unlike todays boxers all drinking protein shakes and muscle makers haha! marciano was the real stuff

  • that shit is nothing compared to todays fighters. just look at welterweight andre berto

  • @STILLDETOX Can Berto knokout people 20+ pounds heavier than him, while taking the beating of a life time, FOR MOST of his fights? I think not

  • 100% natural , not like Tyson who was on steroids , fact , it was ignored because of the money involved

  • @just4fun444fun

Don't think he was on steroids.

They both have great physiques though

  • @TommyGun7111 Im pals with big Joe Egan , Tyson's friend and sparing partner , he told me that Tyson was 100% taking roids , I cant see why he would lie, but hey ! Tyson was an awesome animal fighter it still gets to me he burnt out so quickly , the film he recently made , chocked me up , sad sad past , but a lovely man to meet and talk to , extremely knowledgeable about the sport , and just think of the pain hes gone through recently with the loss of his little girl , wow how would you cope ?

  • @just4fun444fun Tyson was never on roids. He was just naturally big. He was 180lbs at 12 years old, none of it fat! SO unless he was juicing as pre teen, your friend is wrong

  • @POTATER1228 Oh yeah, Tyson dabbled with roids! Check out his physique when he stepped into the ring against McNeely. He was off for 3 years and looked better(physically) than ever for this fight! Insiders, like Joe Egan, knew he was using enhancement drugs. He has admitted to using drugs (marijuana) while he was fighting, and even admitted to being in the movie "Hangover" for drug money. What makjes you think he wouldn't have used a drug capable of enhancing his athletic performance?

  • @wire4paladin But no, the 90's is his worst decade. So much for the PED theory. And he probably worked out in prison to stay in shape, cause thats pretty much all you can do. Tyson never failed a PED test, just recreational drugs. show me results where he failed a test. Why would he take PEDs after retirement? He looks doughy today! And if they were hiding the fact he was taking PEDs by falsifying test results, why not hide his marijuana use instead of giving him No Contests?

  • @POTATER1228 He was big and did develope young, but he was ripped against McNeely. It doesn't mean you're going to do better, it just means you're going to look better!I suspect that Holyfield did them when he moved up from light heavy too!. No one puts on that kind of lean muscle mass! Read the book "Ripped",by Clarence Bass. When you put on muscle without the use of steroids, you gain fat&smoothness as well. Holyfield gained lean muscle mass only. PED's can be masked & rendered undetectable

  • @wire4paladin Tyson is not an ordinary case, the guy looked like a muscled adult when he just hit puberty. I dont think Tyson is your average athelete. So Clarence Bass's book doesnt apply

  • @POTATER1228 I already conceded the point that Tyson is "big and did develope young". He definitely is way above average when it comes to muscle mass; as an athlete, or otherwise. However on some occasions, such as the McNeely fight(as mentioned) he has appeared to far more "ripped",while maintaining the same muscle mass(size&weight).Certainly what Clarence Bass studied, & says in his book;about getting and being "Ripped",while maintaining muscle mass, does apply to a "muscled adult" like Tyson!

  • @wire4paladin Really? When I saw Tyson at the McNeely fight his arms seemed a little smaller than before, and his stomach looked a slight bit doughier than what I've normally seen out of Mike (like 86-88). Still in shape, but not as crisp as before. Even in 1990 he seemed, just a little less defined. And Clarence Bass is one source, I need more before I can make a decision, not just one unanimous source.

  • @POTATER1228 Then u watched the wrong youtube vid of that fight. Be sure to watch the 7 minute video of the fight, it shows a front shot of him during his introduction. He is ripped(abs)!

  • @wire4paladin I was there LIVE. I know what I saw. Tyson wasnt defined, but still massive

  • @POTATER1228 He wasn't defined?!Well I know what I see in the up close camara shot from 2:24 to 2:31. I'm reasonably certain that you weren't anywhere near as close as the the camara man who took this shot of him from the ring apron, unless you were one of his cornermen! If you still don't think he's defined, after watching (2:24 to 2:31),perhaps you should consider getting some glasses because the film doesn't lie.U can count his six pack.Anyone who sports a six pack is definitely "defined"!

  • @wire4paladin Not defined for the standard that I saw Mike Tyson during his best. For a normal man, he's good, but for the Tyson that took down Berbick in 86, looked better. A youtube vid has bad qualty. I was lucky enough to get close seats and saw Tyson ring walk right past me. And he looked a little bit floppy, Not fat. But not as cut as I saw him when he murdered Holmes.

  • @POTATER1228 If the quality was bad, he would've looked LESS cut, not more! I just looked at Tyson during the Berbick, Holmes, and McNeely intros. His stomach was smoother, and the abs were visibly less salient during the Holmes & Berbick intros(and throughout the fight). He was clearly more defined, chiseled, and "ripped' in the Mcneely vid, where you could actually see his 6 pack abs visibly protruding, during the intro. Obviously we're seeing 2 different things!

  • @wire4paladin Dude, no one was really chiseled in the 50s.

  • @Ant45078 Sure they were, you just couldn't see it due to the aged, grainy, poor quality of the mostly black and white films that were shot using inferior film and camera (no digital) back then. Check out the short color vid of Marciano vs vingo here, on youtube. Still aged, and of inferior quality, but there is no doubt that Marciano was heavily muscled and chiseled, as you watch him move, in this back shot of him attacking vingo.

  • @POTATER1228 He weighed in @ 220 and looked more chiseled than he did in the 80's. at that weight. Watch 2:24 to 2:31.

  • @POTATER1228 Be sure to check out the 7 minute youtube vid of Tyson/Mcneely. You get a ggod glimpse of tyson's physique during the introduction.

  • @wire4paladin HE WAS ALWAYS LIKE THAT. Look at him at 12 years old, he wasnt juicing that young! He was just naturally big. It's genetic! Show me proof he did PED. Everyone knows he did recreational drugs, not PED. He ONLY tested positive for pot, not PED. And in Neely, Tyson was SO out of shape. You can look good, but his performance was so sloppy. How can he be on PED is his performance is terrible, if he was on PED he would've torn people apart in the 90's!

  • Wow! 14 biceps, 38 chest, 67 inch reach; you got to be joking!! Good thing he ducked any real prime heavyweights.

  • @PUGCAT he didnt really duck any prime heavyweights...reall werent any other guys to beat...roland lastraza was a prime contender..beat plenty of others...he is small..but the bicep measurements are misleading....they are taken non flexed...dempsey and mike tyson both had 16 inches by that measurement..not much bigger.

  • @PUGCAT those stats were very early in his carrer, it was just never changed. no person thats 5'10 and 187 would have only a 38 in chest and by the looks of him i think its also obvious that his chest is bigger than that, probably more around 42. you cant judge strenth completly on muscle size anyway, strenth also depends on the individual muscle fibers and also the development of smaller muscles called stabilizer muscles....

  • @PUGCAT heres an example, a turn of the century strong man named eugene sandow weighed about 195lb but he could lift a 250lb dumbell over his head with only 1 hand, id like to see george forman or any other of the huge heavy weights do that and eugene was around rockys size. its all about the type of muscle conditioning done so you cant judge by rockies size his ability of strenth and fighting ability and he ducked no fighters, patterson was new and liston was unranked before you bring them up.

  • @PUGCAT marciano was one of those guys that was smaller but just best not to start crap with.i am sure you played ball at some level, you know what i mean.

  • The Brockton Cuntbuster! He'd kick the crap out of any of the heavyweights today, with their fucking milkshake diets. Look at the way he's eating that apple! That's a fucking MAN!

  • natural muscle of granite

  • he was the same height as mike tyson and mike tyson like marciano knock out everyone in their way

  • Marciano is 5'9, tyson is 5'11

  • @FloweySkillz no..your wrong...rocky is 5"10..so its a inch difference..and some do feel tyson was actually 5"11...

  • @gqmighty TYSON IS 5"10 HE EVEN SAID IT AND DOESNT LIE.

  • ya hed knock u out pugcat with your 3 inch bicep an your 10 inch chest

  • He's a world class fighter and not a body builder you presumably fat and obvious jerk-off!

  • a midget that's wierd I thought midget were like 4 foot

  • MIdget that would knock u the fuck out

  • @thefury187 maybe aganst the klitschkos...he would kick your ass though

  • @gqmighty What are you saying? No shit he would knock me out he was a professonal boxer

  • Marciano was a small fighter compared to most fighters today and even then he would knockout every last one of them

    R.I.P

  • @Babyfacemadman1 small does not mean weaker ;) not big, natural size and so strong

  • The man was in great shape

    Just look at the body

  • yea i agree, but then again he did run 12 miles a day so its understandable he bad a body like that.

  • you must be fat n sloppy, marciano is bulit like a construction worker

  • @KiidDynamiteReturns he wasnt in tha good shape...compare him to bruce lee.

  • @kingdaleclarke You're comparing apples and oranges there. Low body fat doesn't always mean being in better shape either. Rocky was old-school, and had the best record in the game. To say he wasn't in great shape is to show a woeful ignorance for how fighting fitness works.

  • @kingdaleclarke rocky ran 10-15 miles a day when training for a fight and 5 miles when not in training whatever the weather. He was like Joe Frazier, the 15th bell would ring and it would seem he had the energy for another 10 rounds.

  • @trailstar1 yer joe frazier was known for his work ethic what you think of pacquiaos work ethic he doesnt seem to have the muscles he used to have but i dont know

  • @kingdaleclarke Pacquiao is one of my favourite fighters of this era and thats mostly because of his massive heart and determination both in the ring and in training and i don't think that is slipping although only time will tell.

  • @kingdaleclarke yes, bruce lee was in good shape, but low bodyfat has nothing to do with your cardio/respiratory conditioning level. Rocky had pretty low bodyfat..not as low as Bruce Lee's, but the man had the heart and lungs of a lion. And also, having a little fat in reserve is what gets you to recover between rounds. Fat is used during low intensity activities, like when you're trying to catch a breather.

  • shit of biceps

  • old school muscle right there

  • I saw your video, nice collection! In the Netherlands it's very hard to find original boxing stuff because our country is more Kickboxing orientated, I'm very happy that i got the DeAgostini dvd from Marciano-Walcott and i got the movie. BUT: we got a lot of Benlee the brand Rocky used in the 50's!!!

  • I have alot of this sort of footage on tape, I should send some to you, if i can.

    Great stuff
