I have seen that i am a lighter skinned black woman and i have gotten the eye rolls from darker skinned woman and have experienced the attitude but I love them past that cuz the truth is some of them were teased for being dark...my sister was called the BLACK one from our own grandmother, so some have some serious trama and may even need to seek counseling to learn to love themselves, that kind of trama causes a person to feel what you have said

Lol, I TOTALLY agree with this video. There is a difference between confidence, a true sense of self love and a cocky ass attitude. The latter is obviously false sense of love and folks pick up on this easily. I'm an Afro-Puerto Rican with a fierce walk, back straight, head heal up high, forceful steps; I've a rebellious nature that I believe others pick up but interprets it as being a full confident woman. I agree with the message in this video for the most part, but I wouldnt be realistic if I didnt mention that women of lighter skin do have an advantage over darker skin women. Unfortunately, we live in a very shallow and superficial society and for the most part, people tend to be attracted to whats appealing in "looks". However, I also believe that having security within oneself can make a world of difference. Confidence does indeed shine through and in some cases, this is what matters most

AT THE SAME TIME JAY, I think you're lacking sympathy to the situation, that most ladies with dark skin have to overcome. Girls and women period, are bombarded with pressure to be "beautiful". And, for dark skin ladies, it hits real hard, since whats "pretty" or "beautiful" is often the complete opposite of who they are. It's not easy, to overcome bad self esteem, thats been put into you, since you were young. HOWEVER IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE. Relate to these women, rather then judge them.

My mother told me almost everyday beauitful I was.. but at the end of the day, when I went out into the world I could not help but feel insecure. i'll say this. yes, you are correct in that insecurity does show in a person, and that it could potentially be a "turn off" for some men to see a women who obviously has low self esteem.
