I've played around 40 hours of stalker and while the complete MOD is great, lovely visuals, but I just can not bring myself to play anymore because the AI sucks big time.

With a silencer on you can shoot a guard and he won't even notice, just keeps walking. Other enemys just stand or sit as you kill their mates. When being stealthy guards suddenly stop fighting you. Half the time they don't see you when your stood right in front of them. Not Good

Until this game gets an AI Mod I aint playing it

1:02 on that house under the roof you can find an "stalker outfit" which is better than your "novice outfit" so i suggest you to climb on the house behind "Wolf" and jump on the roof of that house,next go to the west side (the one where the road is) and look for crates.In the closer crate lies an "stalker outfit".Just helping.But when i hit it with RMB it was very hard to take it.

"Complete" is just a mod, that has a version for each game.. In SOC and CS it fixes quite a bunch of bugs, enhances the graphics (like ANY other mods do to, mind you) and make things a bit more easy. It's a good mod but very very overrated, if you ask me.

This is the best STALKER mod, because it only changes graphics and sound - not the game.! I am fed up with big mods that have some things I want and some i do not, and the mods are never modular, asking yo what you want to install. AMK for example, is broken, totally broken, but has a great communication option which is not available separately which I would like!

1. Will this run well on a pc with a dual core 2.8ghz, Nvidia GTS 160 M (1 gig), and 4 gigs ram. Yes it is a gaming laptop and yes I know "for a lot less money you could get a desktop twice as powerful".

2. Do I need the retail version to install complete 2009? Or will it work just as easily on a copy bought off Steam?

Should work just fine with your laptop, you may have to turn down some of the settings, but it should run at a playable speed. And yes, it works perfectly with the Steam version.

this modification is the shit! For real, complete 2009 mod adds to stalker in so many ways and makes the game look and play so beautifully. So much more then regular stalker, weapons handle just great. I just love to spend a few hours in the zone cos it's close to my heart. kind of reminds me of my childhood, exploring terrain and meeting other 'people'. This stalker complete is my favorite of all the three stalker games, it just keeps it real. the best gaming experience, one can possibly wish4

@davidnalba The developers say it performs better than the vanilla game. However, it requires DirectX 9 (and pixel shader 3.0)

The truth is, however, if your video video card doesn't support DirectX9 (Geforce 4000 , Radeon 9200 or older) you really shouldn't be playing games on it at all.

after trying complete 2009 mod, i gotta say it's worth downloading ^^

gameplay is much more exciting, so many bugs were fixed (enemies seeing you from a mile away for instance) and weapons are way more accurate, in a realistic way.

the fact that you can choose a faction is also great, which didn't work when i first bought it, and reputations as well, bounty on your head, added monsters.

You're gonna shit your pants in X16 and X18 ^^ headset, full volume, dark room, and enjoy it fellas :)

This looks great. I got really bored with the Original because I felt the gunplay was terrible. And there were points where i had 7 Enemies bunching up, camping one door, then It took 30 minutes to go 20 metres.

What's good big STALKER mods aside from Complete 2009? Been hearing a lot about some mod called "AMK 2.1" but unable to find it.

AMK Mod is pretty good, I think the latest version is 1.4 though. Just google "AMK Mod 1.4" and you'll find a link to the amk-team forum. AMK only works with Stalker patch 1.0004. Also, there is LURK, which is what I recommend, look for it on ModDB.

Well what I liked about AMK was the stuff like adding a lot more interaction between other stalkers and the player character.

Does LURK do this as well? Like for example being able to recieve and send dynamic messages with the PDA?

Nah, story and mechanic wise, LURK doesn't really add much stuff like that. Lurk's main addition to the game is that it implements a stealth system. So now you can sneak around in the darkness and what-not. It also adds a really impressive amount of guns to the game and some really impressive graphical improvements. Oh, and in the next update, there will be tons more weapons, an updated Arena mode, Blowouts and many other additions. You may want to hold out until that's released.

Yes, it will work if you pirated Stalker, and the patches are cumulative, so you just need to install 1.0005.

Are there any changes when in Static lightning? my computer can only handle static, and it seems most mods for STALKER these days only focus on making it look better on Dynamic :(

When playing with Static lighting, none of the trees cast shadows and your flashlight no longer casts dynamic shadows. I would recommend you trying out AMK mod, it doesn't enhance the graphics any, yet it adds a lot of really nice features such as blowouts.

oh, i think i figured it out.

I think it worked all along.

Problem is I had my lighting set to "static lighting" which made everything look like crap.

I was using your vid as a reference with the trader, and it seemed it wasn't as shadowy. I'm guessing you have the third shadow option? I can only set it to the second or my game crashes for some reason.

Yeah, I have it set to Full Dynamic Lighting, as for your game crashing, perhaps your system specs aren't up to the task to rendering it. You could try turning down all the other graphics options until you get it work, as the dynamic lighting is a much larger graphical difference than the other settings. You may also want to see my previous comment on how to disable the more performance heavy features that SkyGraphics adds to the game if you have not done so already.

Hey did I do something wrong during installation?

Basically what I did was got stalker from d2d. Got the [digital distrubution official 1.005] patch.

Then downloaded stalker complete, put the gamedata in the main directory. Changed the user.ltx as well as the other one to =true.

Load stalker, the menu says "complete 2009", yet when I get in game there's no difference whatsoever.

Did I do something wrong by patching the original first or something, seems like it recognizes it but doesnt wor

Hmm, honestly it sounds like you did everything right to me. I would think that if it loads the menu correctly then everything else should work fine. Are you sure you changed both variables in "fsgame.ltx" to true?

After you install the mod, navigate to the 'gamedata' folder in your Stalker directory, then go into the 'Shaders' folder, and then into the 'r2' folder. From here, open up "SkyGRAPHICS_options" with Notepad. You can now add "//" to the beginning of the effects to turn them off. For example,

"#define IMPROVED_MBLUR"

will become:

"//#define IMPROVED_MBLUR"
