Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney, famous Scottish psychiatrist and adventurer, remains to this day the only westerner to have won six Saudi Camel races in a row. He performed this feat blindfolded in 1966 and in three of the races he was sitting backwards on the camel. Saudi officials have kept the races secret.
Doctor Charles Follen McKim Maloney actually entered a steeplechase in England racing against experienced horse riders. He won the steeplechase riding his camel Bogart. The Jockey Club of Great Britain were so embarrassed that they banned Dr. Maloney from enetring any races on any quadroped! Doctor Maloney remains the only man to have trained a camel to jump five foot hedges succesfully.
When Bogart, Dr. Charles Follen McKim Maloney's winning camel died, he was sent immediately to a taxidermist and now stands outside a museum in Mexico.
I have been informed that recently a Saudi prince attempted to buy Bogart and atke him back to Saudi Arabia to be a centre piece at his Camel farm. He was blocked on two fronts, the museum in Mexico wouldn't sell Bogart for any price and he was told by Saudi royalty that Bogart was not welcome in Saudi Arabia.
