The baroque period was definitely one of my favorites. I would have had included Pachelbel's Canon. Try searching on youtube: "Johann Pachelbel Canon in D Major Fantastic version, classical music.
Nice compilation for beginners. Hope it will help many people discover the incredible beauty of this musique. You should also include the "Passacaglie" from Lully's "Armide" as well as some airs from George Frederic Handel's operas ( especially "Giulio Cessare", "Rinaldo" and "Alcina" ) - you'll finsd all that on youtube, generally in several versions. You will be overwhelmed - I'm sure.
Thank you for making me discover such great composers! I knew and loved Vivaldi, Bach and Handel but that was pretty much everything I knew about baroque. Thank you again!

Hello please tell me what henry Purcell piece is called...I bought a cd last friday but it had this annoying english chanting in all the pieces..I like the instrumental alone..
@UKpatriot90 I know it! But it's not correct to think that piano was invented later (Bartolomeo Cristofori created in the last years od 1600), you have to know that a few people already played the piano in the Baroque age, but it was not popular nor appreciated. Conclusion: of course it is not right that they use a piano in that orechestra! but piano already existed, just they wouldn't use it there, at that time.

@UKpatriot90 So would you have also told Horowitz not to play Scarlatti on the piano too? I love harpichord music but sometimes the piano gives a whole new meaning to a piece - no different than John Williams playing it on a guitar.
@adrich16 I don't know. Someone has suggested Marini, who has written something with that very title, but that's not the one. Perhaps both title and composer is wrong.

I just think that this video gives a bit the impression that baroque is orchestra music.

Then the renaissance and Medieval Period..
