The confusion of the commutative and transitive properties, and calling commutative "communicative"... well, these things should be corrected before publishing.
Math made easy and fun! In the video the instructor says, "you can't divide any number by zero; that's undefined." I recall learning that a positive #/0 = + infinity and that a neg #/0 = - infinity. Am I wrong?
Thanks So much this really refreshed my memory! i remember it by bad things that happen to bad people is good, good things that happen bad people is bad, bad things that happen to good people is bad, good things that happen to good people is good! :)
@kshahz27 Um, NO, it is not horrible. This video is great, and keep your lousy comments to yourself, because 100% of this world loves this channel. You don't have the desire to learn if you think that this is horrible.
Yes but... if you're going into debt in leaps of neg 3 four times, that takes you to neg. 12. I follow that. But 3*4 and 4*3 make 12. What if you're going into debt in leaps of pos. 4, how do you do that neg 3 times? I can count four neg. threes, but how to you count neg 3 positive fours? I guess you could say, "how many times did you go into debt in multiples of 4?"
omg! so wish youtube was around in the 80s when i was failing algebra in h.s. and getting yelled at by the nuns! lol...really? it's that easy? i would have passed!
you teach better than my teacher! im in 7th,pre algerbra, my teacher isnt good on explaining,so when i get home i come on your videos and watch what my teacher taught me,but i watch your videos, becuase you make it easier, and you are way better than explain.
@ khanacademy: I just got back to college again after 10 years of working full time, and I'm telling you, "You are 1,000,000 times way better than my Professor!" I wanna thank you for doing this tutorial, and how I wish my math Professor is as good as you.
Appreciate your videos. Helps a LOT of people. I'm sure you already know that though. You dont have an annoying voice and your not boring, very good teacher. MORE VIDEOS!!!!
If there are an odd quantity of negative integers then the number is negative, but if there are an even quantity of negative integers then the number becomes positive. Essentially, what will happen, is that when there are an even number of negative integers, then the negatives will always cancel each other out and become a positive.
you did a great job with this but you touched on a real problem at the end. schools churn out too many kids who can solve problems without ever actually doing any real thinking. admittedly the problem is more with the student than the teacher but it's still a worry. non-thinking machines; a cog doesn't comprehend the clock!
Thanks, this really helps refresh my memory, and the statement made about multiplying what is negative # times itself x times helped make sense for why s neg and a pos would be neg but still don't understand why neg and neg would be pos.
neg and neg will be positive becuse like my math teacher said it's like saying "I am not NOT going which mean i Am going" and that is a positive statement, or something like that.
It's not really to understand just to remember, at least thats what i think.
Thanks

I think of it like this:
If two people agree on something thats a positive thing.
We get the same answer
-1 x -1= -1
If two people disagree on something thats a negitive thing.
We get the opposite answer
-2 x 1= -2 3 x -1= -3 :)
Ktayr 1 year ago
@Ktayr maybe you weren't paying attention -1x-1= a positive -1x-1= doesn't equal a negative....
