Wow!! I have been SO intimidated by cabling that I haven't even explored how to do it prior to now (I've been knitting for about 7 months). This video was the BEST possible introduction to it that I can imagine. Thank you so much - I think I'm ready to give this a shot!! :)
Row5, (This is where u do the chain) K1, P1, K1, P1, K2, sl 2 sts to CN (cable needle) and hold in front, P2 from LH needle, P2 from CN, or put them in the LH N, K2 P1, K1, P1, K1
Oh, I love you, I love you, I love you!!! Always thought I could never do anything with cables, but now you got me excited 'bout it! kk, gtg out to buy some yarn to make it! CX
Wow, this looks so simple, I just learned how to knit after crocheting for about 2 years and I was scared to do this until now. Thanks for this little tutorial, I'll be making cables in no time now!
This is the greatest video! I've been knitting only about a month (left handed person, English style) and have taken to it obsessively - yes, I have to know ALL of the abbreviations in a week (!) But I wanted to demystify the cabling thing, and your video is fantabulous. I am going to try this tonight with an easy scarf pattern I found online. Thanks thanks thanks!
I just wanted to say thank you for watching our videos. We are very glad you enjoyed it. We hope our videos can teach and inspire people to craft more. Crafting enables people to create handmade gifts from their heart.
So, I might be wrong, but when you switch from knit to purl am i supposed to bring the yarn over from the knit side to the purl side or purl side to the knit side, or do i just leave it?
It's a very easy to understand video, but I'm confused by how the lady is holding the needles. It looks all wrong compared to the way I hold my needles! :)
Hi, this is Sarah. Sorry that I confused you with my alternate method of holding my needles. It is true that most knitters now hold the needles in their palms, but holding the right needle like a pencil allows you, the viewer, to see what I am doing with the points of the needles. Plus, after 48 years of knitting, you may find that having a different way of moving your wrists and hands is a good thing! Thanks for your comment and watch for more.
@rhondie4ever There are several different ways to hold your kneedles. I hold mine like she does.
English and Continental knit style or American and Throwing knit styles. I know of some knitters who don't do either! As long as you have the stitches and twisting down, it works.
Cable knitting for us left handers please! I kinda get it, but it's confusing since everything's backwards for me while I'm watching the video.

I think people should try and be as creative as possible, I always try different approaches to all the crafts I do. Good luck.

Very nice, short video on cable basics. I'm still a non-cable knitter, but I will gather up my courage one of these days. :-)
