  • my favourite christmas VHS EVERRRRRR!

  • This is really cute , aint some retarded japanese manga , however , scarecrow for the win :P

  • I still have this on VHS somewhere. It was on a tape with a bunch of others like The Old Lady in the Shoe, a story about a donkey named Ponchito, and a boy who lost his echo in the mountains. I wish I had it to watch right now. I miss being a little girl in the 80's.

  • Dear god the nostalgia. I used to watch a video tape when I was a kid, it had a heap of cartoons on it, this and We're in the money was on of them. If anyone could tell me the name of the video tape, I would be forever grateful. For the sake of remembering the good parts of childhood, anyone care to share the name? =)

  • @FluttershyBTK I remember the VHS, too...I've been trying to remember the name for years. My brother and I watched it every Christmas 'til about 1999. So frustrating to forget!

  • Ooooo skeety hoogi leighy hooki fliggy maggi hoo booten beeten bauton skoodle goo-tle day. Skoot it, Badum *DRAMATICALLY* doodle ho, doodle day, doodi hoggy booty O-O booty dooty day.

  • i used to have night mares about this as a child :P

  • Does anyone remember an old clamation movie that used to come on during the holidays? It was about a guy who lives in the woods with his mean brother and father. The guy gives an old man, who he meets, some of his lunch and the old man then gives him a flying ice boat that looks like a swan. The guy travels to a kingdom and on the way he collects a bunch of people that have weird powers, like a women who can eat a lot, and a guy who can make sticks into and army. Thanks :P

  • woo that scarecrow is the man and jack the frost is hella freaky looking

  • always listen to your parents, kids

  • OMG, i use to have this on vhs as a kid. I loved it. I'm 26 yrs old now... my how time flies

  • The scarecrow sounds so Al Jolson!

  • lol the scarecrow song.aahah.i love this. I remember watching this when I was like 3.lol. I love this. it really brings back so many wonderful memories, thank you for uploading this.

  • wow this takes me back. i was talking about this cartoon the other with my mother. jack frost used to scare me also.. hahha

  • I've actually got an alternate version, which I haven't been able to find anywhere's else. The dialogue and songs have been taken out and dubbed over in a jazzy/rockabilly score....anyone else know what I'm talking about?

  • This scared the hell out of me when i was by myself during the winter as a kid. I didnt go outside the entire winter one year.

  • I believe the animation was done by the late Grim Natwick or possibly the late Frank Tashlin, the late Berny Wolf or the late Al Eugster for the Ub Iwerks Cartoon studio, but I could be wrong. Plus, the late Carl Stalling did the music at Iwerks before going on to spending the next two decades doing the musical arrangements for the "Looney Tunes" and "Merrie Melodies" shorts at Warner Bros.

  • That night every fall we have a Frost Advisory I will be watching this and later showing it to my children. Winter's a comin'!

  • @rockerkelly93 i know me too my parents kept their old cartoons and i love them more than cartoons nowadays

  • didnt that snowman guy appear in a different cartoon, it had centaurs and he was freezing everybody :/

  • @hiimjenki2 yep, "summertime" an ub iwerks comicolor cartoon.

  • @sg8923 :O Thanks!

  • It's interesting that the eponymous Jack Frost is a friendly gnome who paints things, and the demonic icicle-creature is named "Old Man Winter". I expect many people who remember this cartoon think of the icicle demon as being Jack Frost.

  • @darmokthegreen I sure Did!!:) Great Comment :)oxo

  • @darmokthegreen I sure did I thought it was Santa that saved the bear and Jack was the villain.

  • I had this on a tape of old Christmas cartoons that I would watch nearly every day when I was little. One of the other cartoons had a snowman that went inside a house when the people left.

I also remember there being some live actions bits with Santa in between cartoons. Anyone remember what this tape was called and if it's still available?

  • OMG I REMEMBER THIS!

  • wow i used to watch this cartoon all the time at my grandpa's brings back so many memories

  • I was so scared of this, although i watched it a lot.

  • This tale is based off of Slavic mythology.

  • omg i remember this when i was like 3....

  • Oh Heggy Sleggy leggy sleggy hee dem botten oh loogie day

Skittem Bottem woa! Loogie loggie low loogie doggie day!

  • Lovely - I used to have this cartoon on VHS, but it went missing many years ago. Lovely to see this again!

  • COMI color wtf

  • stickmanfart what are you saying what the fuck about

  • @zachmisfitsrule I don't know

  • Why Does Old Man Winter Look Like the Guy From Summertime

  • These are some recycled characters. Like the bears look exactly like the bear from Goldielocks and the Three bears.

  • is oldman winter the same guy Hauraunah

  • Yes, definiately. Even that scarecrow has been recycled from another cartoon I have by the same animators.

  • oh damn one of my favourite .

  • Especially great watching in November- seeing the autumnal changes that just happened and gearing up for the heavy snows just ahead.

  • et wus ceut

  • i have this on VHS!!!!

  • @azzieylivliv WHAT THE HECK IS THE NAME OF THAT VHS???

  • I remember this from when I saw this when I was real little.

    Scarecrows FTW!!

I love his song- best part!!

  • I love this cartoon! I have watched this every Christmas since I was born! I'm not kidding! I LOVE the creepy pumpkins, the scary old man winter, and the slightly disturbing, and I don't know why, song of the scarecrow. Thank you sooo much for posting this!!

  • ha! me too! I grew up in he 80's and early 90's and we had this and some other classics on VHS and watched every season. It IS actually pretty creepy by today's childrens show standards, that is what make it so good! Now I've got it on dvd so I can hear the freaky "scatman" scarecrow song forever!

  • thanks so much for posting this!!

  • man the memories!

  • omg thank you so much for posting this! i used to watch this at my nana's house with all my cousins :)

  • The scarecrow and the trees singing used to frighten me as a child . . . I really do not see why it wouldn't. It sucks that they don't make cartoons like this anymore.

  • lost my V-card to this epicness

  • who is the artist who drew this

  • One of my favorites when I was young, apsolutely beautiful cartoon ;)

  • This was my fav movie when i was lil

  • david naughton is fab :)x

  • This cartoon freaked the crap out of me when I was a kid. I hated the part when he got trapped in the log by Old Man Winter. It's fascinating from a historical perspective, though. Thanks for posting it.

  • @DharmaGirl07 I know your comments a yea old but totally agree, absolloutley love this, so many childhood memories (even if they are of hiding under the sheets due to old jack frost!):)xox

  • @DharmaGirl07 I totally felt the same way, and I can't believe I found this video

  • you can call me nanner puss nanner puss and guess what i love pancakes

  • i love this video and am so creeped out by it at the same time. i've had a VHS of this and a few other cartoons/small shows since i was very little, and we always watch it every christmas, although now it's more of a joke.

my sisters and i always sing, "i don't have to worry!" to each other,

and my one sister actually has the entire scarecrow song memorized, which is my favorite part, hahaha. i'm so jel of her.

  • very cool cartoon. Thank you for posting it.

  • classic use to watch this as a kid, made me feel all good inside during the holidays!

  • What was the name of the video this cartoon was released on?

  • Omg this was the cartoon that scared the f--- out of me as a child!

  • Oh, man, I remember this cartoon from back when I was a little kid!

"I don't have to worry! I don't have to care!

My coat is very furry, I'm a grizzly, Grizzly Bear!"

  • @ilikethecoke Well, from what happens to him in this cartoon, it seems his coat's not so furry and he's just a baby bear.

  • OMG!! I almost cried when I saw this! I remember LOVING to watch this as a little kid. Thank you so much for putting this on here.

  • What great art work and a storyline to boot! So sad children today are missing this innocence and joy.

  • I'm surprised by the number of people who also had this video.

  • me too! we still have the videos..only they don't work so well...

  • omg!! My family has the 2 videos which include this jack frost..they're so old but soo good..we always watch them at christmas still...

  • HOLEE SHEEYIT. I REMEMBER THIS. O_o

  • I love these vintage cartoons that are equal parts charm and nightmare fuel!

  • Actually, he went back to Disney after these cartoons, and worked on a lot of technical stuff, most notably the multiplane camera setup that gave cartoons a real sense of depth.

  • I love this cartoon, my mother always played it for me when I was little.

  • I used to have this video when I was about 5/6and to be honest it is very nostalgic for me watching but this was possibly one of the scariest videos I've ever seen. I know it's not meant to be and I do still feel compelled to watch even though I think it's scary!

    x

  • My #1 favorite Iwerks cartoon!

  • vecchi ricordi.... :D

  • Bello, bellissimo!!

  • OMG I love this cartoon! I've watched it EVERY Christmas since I was a baby! =P I made my boyfriend watch it with me and he was like: O_O. AHHH this cartoon is love!

  • the pumpkin man is cab calloway... awesome :)

  • dude this gives me the creeps T+T

  • This is great. I watched this every year during the holidays as a kid. I found it on dvd last year with a bunch of other classics. The scat-talkin scarecrow scared the hell outta me when I was little. I forced my fiancee wo watch this with me...apparently it's not that cool unless you remember seeing it during your youth.

  • i remamber watching this when i was 4 or 5. i miss this cartoon and the other cartoons that was on this video.

  • schöner Film... aber der Stil sieht mir so ein bischen nach den Fleischer Brüdern aus - und manchmal frag ich mich wirklich was die sie gekifft haben /-:

  • the name of the other video is christmas dream and its on youtube

  • WHATS THE NAME OF THIS DVD? I remember this was like recorder along with a handfull of other little movies. Like a girl with a doll and yaddi.

  • the name of the video is rudolph the red nose reindeer ( 1940's version) and had that creepy dancing doll riding the girraffe.

  • Yes, haha wow, that doll was creepy. Alright well thanks a lot.

  • That film of the dancing doll, was made in Czechoslovakia circa 1947 by Karel Zeman. It is known as "A Christmas Dream"

  • the scarecrow dance is so funny and i still annoy my friends with the " i don't need to worry" song and dance routine whenever they are cold and i'm not.

As for the mummy spanking baby bear...call the child protection team.

  • There's nothing wrong with spanking a child, as long as you don't do it too hard, for too long, or for the wrong reason.

  • Nobody ever remembered that infamous scarecrow song... I'll show them I'm not just crazy >(

:D I'm so happy you uploaded it... My most favorite cartoon from way back!

  • I saw this on the Monster episode of Pee-Wee's Playhouse! The secret word was "Look!"

  • omgosh my brother and I had this on a tape when we were kids. it also had the old rudolph and another that I remember vaugely, I just remember it being in black and white with a boy a girl that had a christmas tree in their room and there were toys dancing....hmmmm, if anyone knows what I'm talking about you should msg me. anyways, thanks for posting this! :)

  • ok my brother and i used to have that same video, i'm almost positive. i think our mom gave it away at a garage sale and i want it back. i loved that video. do you know what it was called? or where i can find it?

  • Our mom gave it away too :[ But I recently went to a local "used cd/dvd store" and I was so excited when I found this on a dvd there for $4! It's called "A Collection of Christmas Classics" and it's got like 30 cartoons on it. I'll send you a link to the dvd on ebay.

  • My mom sold mine at a garage sale too!!! my brother i were soooo sad!

  • Oh my gosh, this was a great cartoon! I used to watch it when I was little :)

  • I loved watching this movie, when i was little. i still like it acually.

  • great memories brings back to me. nice video

  • lmao. the scarecrow part. great cartoon.

  • This is one of the best cartoons ever from the classics!!! especially the scarecrow
