Being Canadian does have it's benefits. I could never imagine those premiums on a monthly basis. It's criminal. I don't understand why the U.S. can't duplicate the Canadian way. All businesses/corporations pay a % of their payroll directly toward health care. It allows every man, woman & child to walk into a doctors office or hospital and get treatment. Well with that said, maybe it's because corporations run the government. The solution is simpler than most people think.
I don't think one runs the other. They both try to make deals with eachother. Its facism. So what were arguing is that going back to free market healthcare will result in costs lower or the same as canada but all the quality of having it in the private sector. So it would be the best of both worlds.
No they don't. I am from Canada and I am being denied health care. Thousands are. Canadian businesses are taxed to death, except the large corporations which put their money offshore and Canada sees no benefit from this fraud. One of our own Prime ministers, Paul Martin, who owned a large shipping company registered his business offshore so he wouldn't have to pay Canadian taxes. The people pay for health care and then don't receive it. We are taxed to death up here but receive little benefit.
I made a case that government is corrupt. That is why the people need to take back control from them. Now they just are sellouts and traitors to the people by bowing to corporate pressures. Once that is done then there will be no need for insurance companies being involved in health care. If you leave health care to private insurance companies, or government as it exists now, either way we are screwed. That is the nature of Fascism. A government/corporate coalition destroys the individual.
I must be missing something - I don't work any longer, I don't pay one cent toward any medical care and I present my OHIP card for free health care. I suppose some procedures aren't covered but that's not unusual. I may have to pay for an ambulance - last I checked $45 but so be it if I need it. Either way, if you have a business over a certain number of people, you pay a health care tax. I do agree that we are taxed to death, no question in my mind and the money is wasted.
You are covered under the Canada Health Act. Unfortunately that act discriminates against one group. Injured Workers. If you became disabled on the job then your medical and legal rights are taken. The insurance company dictates your care and level of financial compensation which is always less than what they promise. In 2006 in Ontario Canada there were 5000 injured workers on welfare. Your Provincial taxes pay welfare so you are being robbed. Hundreds every year die in pain and poverty.
I agree 100% - we were talking about two different "health care" systems. Yes injured workers are disregarded and left to fight for their rights (of course - at the worst possible time in their life). We are being ripped off in every way... no doubt in my mind. I am so sorry to hear that you are or know of these victims... yes they are all victims of the "system" . Most people can't see the end of their nose never mind what happens to others. I get it....
Exactly why taxes a horrible thing. Cut the taxes, and cut the programs, and let people take care of their own damned selves. And yes, I am a Canadian, living in Canada.
National health spending is expected to reach $2.5 trillion in 2009, accounting for 17.6 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). By 2018, national health care expenditures are expected to reach $4.4 trillion—more than double 2007 spending. (Sitka)
The Republicans and or Obama plan, is just more of the same. Plenty of profit for the greedy pharmaceuticals and the health care companies. We should model the European Plan, is just 10% of their GDP & we'll save 1 Trillion dollars a year.
Violating the right to earn a profit only makes matters worse. Price controls, such as the European health plan(s) only serve to lower quality, create shortages, and drive doctors out of the business. The reason they spend less is because they get less.
The health care industry makes alot of money off those procedures. That's why they're mandated. If you keep asking questions, you might find you support hr3200. Hope a doesn't frighten you.
It also subsidizes meat and dairy... big time. Factory farmed animals, injected with rBST, fed other animals from rendering plants (road kill and euthanized pets), not to mention the herbicides, pesticides as well as antibiotics. How can any of that be considered healthy.
Government is in cahoots with insurance companies. It's the insurance industry that writes the legislation. It's a scam and will continue to be used so long as Congress keeps taking the special interest money from these corporations.
But the solution is not to restrict people's rights to contribute to a political cause; but rather to rein in government power to grant favors in exchange for political contributions. Limit government power and you limit corruption.
True herbs814. You may think I oppose you but i don't. I just point out that the insurance companies are corrupt, deny claims illegally by the use of unrestricted fraud against the policy holder. The government is responsible to ensure our rights are protected and they don't. A government run system would only work with an honest constitutionally based system. As it is now we have corrupt greedy Fascist eugenics monsters in our system. The first change would be to stop all government lobbying.
since the government is in bed with the insurance lobbyists and does not hold their cronies accountable, the best course is to strip the government of the authority that they misuse. people need to understand that they need to do their due diligence and not outsource their investigation to the government. Limited government makes people more responsible for themselves... and also gives the corrupt bureaucrats and cronies no place to hide.
Unfortunately, the gov is not concerned with limited power, that's what the Constitution is supposed to do, limit gov power. Congress ignores the Const. all the time, or we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place. Let everyone contribute to anyone they wish, but prevent contributors from receiving any benefit, directly or indirectly, for four years from the date the contribution was made. No contracts, no special legislation. They should not be allowed to write or submit proposed laws.
Absolutely right. If they did not confiscate most of our income with taxes we would not all be so helpless. We could also take care of our own family members and friends much more efficiently than the government welfare state..
An Open Limerick To President Obama By Madeleine Begun Kane Dear Obama, the GOPs clear: Wont support any health reform. Hear? You can whittle the bill Down to bupkis — you still Wont get votes. Yes theyve duped you, I fear. Your naivetys hurting our cause. And so how about taking a pause? Work with Dems on the Hill To create a fresh bill That has nary a GOP clause.
Good job on bringing out the facts. Obama doesn't want to reform health care he wants to take it over and ration it so you pay more and get little to nothing in return. Like social security, medicare, medicaid etc...
I got healthcare reform. The federal government will get out of the healthcare business. The federal government has proven time and time again that when they try to regulate or control things like healthcare, the price goes up, it becomes less efficient (in how it spends our taxes and how it runs the system), and lowers the quality. The federal government also needs to cut wasteful spending and to close all unconstitutional departments. The smaller the government, the more in our pockets.
If you guys think private health insurance is bad, wait for government health insurance. If you don't like one insurer, at least you can shop for a better one. If you don't like government insurance, too bad you're stuck with it. Do you people trust your life, your health to government? People don't even trust the police, the IRS, but now WE will trust our life TO THE GOVERNMENT!? ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE??
This government healthcare will drive away doctors! Ask your doctor how they feel!
The point about insurance is to spread the cost. I have not seen a doctor in 7 years. I am very healthy, I do not need health insurance now. My health insurance cost about 12,000 per year for me and my 2 kids. When a catastrophic medical need happens then there are resources available to pay for the treatment. When you are in the greatest need of serious medical care, you are likely to be the least capable to pay for it. Now you can be denied treatment after having paid for all those years.
Yes you can be denied by corrupt insurance companies. Hundreds of thousands are. The rest can't afford any insurance and you inadvertently pay for their health care through taxes. I am sure the janitor at the local library with two kids can't afford it. Insurance companies are the reason for the ineqality in health care and the high pices for it. A single payer system would reduce your payments subsantially while guaranteeing coverage for you and the janitor. A win-win situation for all.
well, if there was no such thing as health care insurance, the money you would have saved by not paying it all these years would be more than enough to cover just about anything that might happen to you.. with government health care you will pay just as much, and still can be denied care, although it will not be called like that..
It doesn't matter anymore who runs our health care system. Eiher way we are fucked. As it is now there is discrimination and fraud rampant throughout the system. Based on pure greed, and a government depopulation agenda. Greed + eugenics = pain , poverty, and death, of the diabled.. The only way out of it is to FORCE government to comply with human rights law, criminal code law, and the constitutions of our countries. Fuck the Fascist corporate govenment coalition. DEATH TO THE NEW WORLD ORDER!
Honesty in government + insurance out of health care = everyone getting treated as the needs arise. The root of the problems in health care come directly from a corrupted money system. Unless Americans abolish the Federal Reserve, take control of their own money and resources, then no matter if it is private insurance or government insurance people will still be discriminated against, robbed of lawful and just benefits etc.
yes, and the root of the corrupt money systems involves the government. And you are ready to intrust this corrupt government with more power and control. ie. over your health. You obviously want to believe that you will get the healthcare you want/need. Maybe you would, for a year or two, and then the system goes bust. The way to solving the problem of corrupt systems is not to create new ones all the time.
Thank you Shelly for caring enough to bring it to audiances, and with rational tone and substance. I want the government serving the people, Not putting ***** on paper and saying its for us!
I understand her points but she is using flawed logic. A person does not wake up one day and say to himself "I am going to become an alcoholic and drink and cause trouble and die from an accident or disease caused by my alcoholsm". But then maybe he is thinking "Why should I pay for her breast cancer treatment because I don't have breast cancer?" Get it? Alcoholsm is an illness both physical and mental. It needs to be treated for not only the good of the individual but also society as a whole.
but no one should ever be FORCED to buy insurance that covers alcoholism. your rambling pity-seeking nonsense never justifies why government places mandates on insurance and forces us to pay for such nonsense, just to pay off campaign contributors. but that's what socialized medicine is: a corrupt vote-buying scheme that never delivers what it promises to the people who need it. Socialism only serves the corrupt politicians and bureaucratics and cronies who impose this tyranny on the rest of us.
Then I should not be forced to buy insurance that covers diabetes, or MS, or any other such illness. And where do you come up with "rambling pity seeking"? So what would YOU have US do? A woman can buy Insurance to guard against breast cancer and you and I can buy insurance to guard against prostrate cancer? And how do we know what diseases any of us will get? The answer is to provide medical care for all illnesses, injuries and diseases. No one left out or discriminated against.
That's right. No one left out. With a single payer system we don't even need health insurance companies. Have you ever thought about that? Everyone paying a fixed amount. Only an insurance agent or banker or eugenics monster would be against that measure. Remove the middle men, the insurance companies, from all health care. They are the main reason it is so expensive, not the patient. They thrive financially off the misery and death of others. Make them get a real job.
a single-payer system is an evil system that forces people into one program, despite the fact that it is not the right program for everyone. Only a lazy, irresponsible parasite or a corrupt, greedy bureaucrat would support single-payer tyranny. Single-payer tyranny is the tool of eugenicists to force people into their rationing and depopulation schemes. If you oppose eugenics, then you must oppose single-payer.
No sir you are completely misguided. The eugenics is perpetrated against those who can't afford health insurance and even those who can. The insurance companies regularly deny serious injury claims and illnesses. What I oppose is criminally minded, psychopathic insurance companies whose only motive and reason for being is the pursuit of profit for themselves. They don't give a damn about you or me.
If you are going to Source Sicko, then I'm going to source to you John Stossel's Sick In America. He speaks to Michael Moore directly in that about Sicko.
that might be true, but this state of affairs is only a consequence of government regulation. i can tell you for certain that "government provided" health care won't be better. and it costsjust as much, only the cost is hidden more..
No, eugenics is perpetrated against people dumb enough (or slavish enough) to trust their government. Government "care" violates our rights more than private insurance ever will. Private healthcare is ALWAYS better than government tyranny.
you halfwit. Of course they care about you and me. We are their CUSTOMERS. They do everything in their power to make US happy with their services. If I asked you if you were an Austrian or a Keynsian, would you have any idea what I was talking about? If not, then don't burden yourself with politics because you do not understand the function of an economy.
They do everything they can to ensure us SLAVES suffer and all the money is funnelled to the top elite. If you don't understand anything about USURY then you don't understand they use this usury to subjugate the people to their will and take over their lands. Jesus knew it. That is why he threw the moneychangers out of the Temple. Economics 101 = Deuternomy 23 verses 19 and 20. If you talk about Keynesian or Austrian economics then understand first they are both built on lies and deceit.
I agree that a single payer system could cause great harm to the population. What we need to counter that is an informed population to tell government what we want and demand it. We have now a top down political system completely opposite of what America says it stands for. I don't disagree about government tyranny, but neither do I believe in having a corrupt insurance system running the show either. They have shown their stripes and are practicing eugenics on medical patients because of greed
Supe - I appreciate your viewpoint and passion However, you fail to acknowledge the government's role in creating the current system. To remove the middleman, is advocating a self pay system. I go to the doctor, I pay the doctor directly for services rendered. No squandering of MY resources by the bureaucracy.
Government regulation, those in government complicit with the insurance lobby, and the inflationary tactics of the Federal Reserve system have driven up the cost off health care .
I do understand governments role in the health care. Their main problem is not reigning in the HMO's and other insurers such as workers comp. Neither the private sector nor government can be trusted. Private insurance because they will steal, lie and cheat you. Often leading to the death of the patient. Government will not intervene because they receive rich rewards from these same companies. It is simply a question of morality.
What we really need is an educated populace that tells government what we need and demand they provide it. Iinstead we have politicians bowing to private interest groups and ruining health care for the average person. We must end this system of lobbying because it only panders to the greed of these politicians. We must also demand a universal system whereby no one is disciminated against. I wish everyone here good health and prosperity. No one has the right to receive better care than another.
no one has a right to what they did not earn, unless it is from family, friends, or charity. We must demand the right to decide our own arrangement and resist any and all attempts to move us in any way towards a "universal" system.
"no one has a right to receive better care than another."
Does no one have a right to eat better food than another? what about driving better cars? should we control the system so that everyone gets the same size house and wardrobe, too?
Irrelevant. Health care is not the same as a house or car. Who gives a fuck if you have a car or not? If you have your physical health you can EARN one ot choose to walk. Health care is basic. Only Nazi eugenicists don't seem to know the difference. Or thieves and liars and murderers.
The people should be trusted, not the government. People should determine their insurance and care by voluntary decisions, with as little government input as possible.
It's also time to get private insurance out of our lives. I don't why a healthcare cooperative seems to be off the table. Imagine if 200 million Americans belonged to a coop; what purchase power we would have without anyone skimming our health dollars. Truly, the debate itself makes me sick. If I was the healthcare drill sergeant, everyone would be lined up in formation on the streets at 6 a.m. doing their daily exercises. Preventive healthcare is the way to go to prevent obesity.
Unfortunately people fail to see the connection between reducing government burdens on other people, like the health care industry, and reducing government burdens on our own lives.
Try looking at it from the point of view of someone who is disabled from their former employment, can't get medical care and retraining. They have insurance . They don't get it. The patient is forced to public assistance programs and many end up committing suicide. Thousands. Now pretend we have an honest, fair, and just politial system. I know it takes a stretch of the imagination :-). In that case we could all have single payer, all be protected from disease, disability, poverty and death.
What we need is to take the power of money away from the Bankers. Especially the Fedeal Reserves. Then money printed by government can be used for its true purpose, the good and welfare of the people. No fighting over benefits. People get what they need to get well and back to work. They don't lose homes and savings like the 9/11 first responders are, and they don't die in misery. We need fundamental changes in government, insurance, and banking before anything will get better for all of us.
"The answer is to provide medical care for all illnesses, injuries, and diseases." Exactly the foolish, wasteful overspending that got us in this unnecessary affordability crisis in the first place. Insurance should never cover everything. That defeats the whole purpose of insurance. Why is health insurance expensive but auto insurance is not? Because auto insurance does NOT cover every oil change, and every wiper blade. Why is home insurance not expensive? It doesn't cover every leaky faucet.
There is absolutely no flaw in saying I should NOT be made to pay anything I do not consent to. Government mandates in insurance are a form of tyranny that has no justification under than being a corrupt way to steal our money to pay off cronies.
Nonsense herbs814. I am sure one day you will need health care of some sort. Maybe even for a disabling or life threatening illness. What will you do then if by choice you opted out of all insurance, whether private or government run? Just go home and die? No you wll be screaming "save me save me". But then no one will listen and you will be crippled and poor, or dead. I can assure you, the insurance companies in the U.S have been robbing you all blind for the last hundred years.
When I need health care I will be honest enough to pay for it myself, seek private charity, or find a way to do without. There is no excuse for ever supporting single-payer tyranny. Single-payer is the most evil system of all. It is the government that causes the problems in healthcare. Single-payer is pure EVIL.
Not as evil as the insurance companies. Even when you have insurance they don't pay and peope are left lame or even dead. Watch "Sicko". By the way herbs814are you an insurance agent? And why should charity pay for your healh care? And do wthout? Tell me that if you develop diabetes or cancer. The reason the heath care sysem is F***** up is directly because of the insurance companies.
Makes sense. Trim all the waste and payola first; then allow people to choose a stripped-down inexpensive policy or the expensive one with all the fancy accessories. One size does not fit all.
but the socialist democrats (and too many moderate republicans) insist that you be forced to pay for things you never need and never consent to. A la carte is an important part of true reform that Obama and his felow socialists refuse to consider.
This is so inspiring.. Thank you for sharing this.

It also subsidizes meat and dairy... big time. Factory farmed animals, injected with rBST, fed other animals from rendering plants (road kill and euthanized pets), not to mention the herbicides, pesticides as well as antibiotics. How can any of that be considered healthy.

yes, but it's government sanctioned

Government is in cahoots with insurance companies. It's the insurance industry that writes the legislation. It's a scam and will continue to be used so long as Congress keeps taking the special interest money from these corporations.
bbburton 2 years ago 6
But the solution is not to restrict people's rights to contribute to a political cause; but rather to rein in government power to grant favors in exchange for political contributions. Limit government power and you limit corruption.
herbs814 2 years ago 3
True herbs814. You may think I oppose you but i don't. I just point out that the insurance companies are corrupt, deny claims illegally by the use of unrestricted fraud against the policy holder. The government is responsible to ensure our rights are protected and they don't. A government run system would only work with an honest constitutionally based system. As it is now we have corrupt greedy Fascist eugenics monsters in our system. The first change would be to stop all government lobbying.
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
since the government is in bed with the insurance lobbyists and does not hold their cronies accountable, the best course is to strip the government of the authority that they misuse. people need to understand that they need to do their due diligence and not outsource their investigation to the government.

Ask your doctor how they feel!
subjer0 2 years ago
The point about insurance is to spread the cost. I have not seen a doctor in 7 years. I am very healthy, I do not need health insurance now. My health insurance cost about 12,000 per year for me and my 2 kids. When a catastrophic medical need happens then there are resources available to pay for the treatment. When you are in the greatest need of serious medical care, you are likely to be the least capable to pay for it. Now you can be denied treatment after having paid for all those years.
ZorroSosi69 2 years ago
Yes you can be denied by corrupt insurance companies. Hundreds of thousands are. The rest can't afford any insurance and you inadvertently pay for their health care through taxes. I am sure the janitor at the local library with two kids can't afford it. Insurance companies are the reason for the ineqality in health care and the high pices for it. A single payer system would reduce your payments subsantially while guaranteeing coverage for you and the janitor. A win-win situation for all.
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
well, if there was no such thing as health care insurance, the money you would have saved by not paying it all these years would be more than enough to cover just about anything that might happen to you.. with government health care you will pay just as much, and still can be denied care, although it will not be called like that..
dinkolino2 2 years ago
It doesn't matter anymore who runs our health care system. Eiher way we are fucked. As it is now there is discrimination and fraud rampant throughout the system. Based on pure greed, and a government depopulation agenda. Greed + eugenics = pain , poverty, and death, of the diabled.. The only way out of it is to FORCE government to comply with human rights law, criminal code law, and the constitutions of our countries. Fuck the Fascist corporate govenment coalition. DEATH TO THE NEW WORLD ORDER!
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
you don't see any discrepancy between your 2 comments? where did the win-win situation go?
dinkolino2 2 years ago
Honesty in government + insurance out of health care = everyone getting treated as the needs arise. The root of the problems in health care come directly from a corrupted money system. Unless Americans abolish the Federal Reserve, take control of their own money and resources, then no matter if it is private insurance or government insurance people will still be discriminated against, robbed of lawful and just benefits etc.
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
yes, and the root of the corrupt money systems involves the government. And you are ready to intrust this corrupt government with more power and control. ie. over your health. You obviously want to believe that you will get the healthcare you want/need. Maybe you would, for a year or two, and then the system goes bust. The way to solving the problem of corrupt systems is not to create new ones all the time.

SuperNewf1 2 years ago
but no one should ever be FORCED to buy insurance that covers alcoholism. your rambling pity-seeking nonsense never justifies why government places mandates on insurance and forces us to pay for such nonsense, just to pay off campaign contributors. but that's what socialized medicine is: a corrupt vote-buying scheme that never delivers what it promises to the people who need it. Socialism only serves the corrupt politicians and bureaucratics and cronies who impose this tyranny on the rest of us.
herbs814 2 years ago
Then I should not be forced to buy insurance that covers diabetes, or MS, or any other such illness. And where do you come up with "rambling pity seeking"? So what would YOU have US do? A woman can buy Insurance to guard against breast cancer and you and I can buy insurance to guard against prostrate cancer? And how do we know what diseases any of us will get? The answer is to provide medical care for all illnesses, injuries and diseases. No one left out or discriminated against.
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
That's right. No one left out. With a single payer system we don't even need health insurance companies. Have you ever thought about that? Everyone paying a fixed amount. Only an insurance agent or banker or eugenics monster would be against that measure. Remove the middle men, the insurance companies, from all health care. They are the main reason it is so expensive, not the patient. They thrive financially off the misery and death of others. Make them get a real job.
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
a single-payer system is an evil system that forces people into one program, despite the fact that it is not the right program for everyone. Only a lazy, irresponsible parasite or a corrupt, greedy bureaucrat would support single-payer tyranny. Single-payer tyranny is the tool of eugenicists to force people into their rationing and depopulation schemes. If you oppose eugenics, then you must oppose single-payer.
herbs814 2 years ago
No sir you are completely misguided. The eugenics is perpetrated against those who can't afford health insurance and even those who can. The insurance companies regularly deny serious injury claims and illnesses. What I oppose is criminally minded, psychopathic insurance companies whose only motive and reason for being is the pursuit of profit for themselves. They don't give a damn about you or me.

that might be true, but this state of affairs is only a consequence of government regulation. i can tell you for certain that "government provided" health care won't be better. and it costsjust as much, only the cost is hidden more..
dinkolino2 2 years ago
No, eugenics is perpetrated against people dumb enough (or slavish enough) to trust their government. Government "care" violates our rights more than private insurance ever will. Private healthcare is ALWAYS better than government tyranny.
herbs814 2 years ago
you halfwit. Of course they care about you and me. We are their CUSTOMERS. They do everything in their power to make US happy with their services. If I asked you if you were an Austrian or a Keynsian, would you have any idea what I was talking about? If not, then don't burden yourself with politics because you do not understand the function of an economy.
Kabukihomewood 2 years ago
They do everything they can to ensure us SLAVES suffer and all the money is funnelled to the top elite. If you don't understand anything about USURY then you don't understand they use this usury to subjugate the people to their will and take over their lands. Jesus knew it. That is why he threw the moneychangers out of the Temple. Economics 101 = Deuternomy 23 verses 19 and 20. If you talk about Keynesian or Austrian economics then understand first they are both built on lies and deceit.
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
I agree that a single payer system could cause great harm to the population. What we need to counter that is an informed population to tell government what we want and demand it. We have now a top down political system completely opposite of what America says it stands for. I don't disagree about government tyranny, but neither do I believe in having a corrupt insurance system running the show either. They have shown their stripes and are practicing eugenics on medical patients because of greed
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
Supe - I appreciate your viewpoint and passion However, you fail to acknowledge the government's role in creating the current system. To remove the middleman, is advocating a self pay system. I go to the doctor, I pay the doctor directly for services rendered. No squandering of MY resources by the bureaucracy.
Government regulation, those in government complicit with the insurance lobby, and the inflationary tactics of the Federal Reserve system have driven up the cost off health care .
robpatozz 2 years ago
I do understand governments role in the health care. Their main problem is not reigning in the HMO's and other insurers such as workers comp. Neither the private sector nor government can be trusted. Private insurance because they will steal, lie and cheat you. Often leading to the death of the patient. Government will not intervene because they receive rich rewards from these same companies. It is simply a question of morality.
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
What we really need is an educated populace that tells government what we need and demand they provide it. Iinstead we have politicians bowing to private interest groups and ruining health care for the average person. We must end this system of lobbying because it only panders to the greed of these politicians. We must also demand a universal system whereby no one is disciminated against. I wish everyone here good health and prosperity. No one has the right to receive better care than another.
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
no one has a right to what they did not earn, unless it is from family, friends, or charity.

Kabukihomewood 2 years ago
Irrelevant. Health care is not the same as a house or car. Who gives a fuck if you have a car or not? If you have your physical health you can EARN one ot choose to walk. Health care is basic. Only Nazi eugenicists don't seem to know the difference. Or thieves and liars and murderers.
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
The people should be trusted, not the government. People should determine their insurance and care by voluntary decisions, with as little government input as possible.
herbs814 2 years ago
Agreed. And we will never, hard as we try, legislate morality. Time to get government out of the health care industry, and out of our lives.
robpatozz 2 years ago
It's also time to get private insurance out of our lives. I don't why a healthcare cooperative seems to be off the table. Imagine if 200 million Americans belonged to a coop; what purchase power we would have without anyone skimming our health dollars. Truly, the debate itself makes me sick. If I was the healthcare drill sergeant, everyone would be lined up in formation on the streets at 6 a.m. doing their daily exercises. Preventive healthcare is the way to go to prevent obesity.
desertjournalonline 2 years ago
Unfortunately people fail to see the connection between reducing government burdens on other people, like the health care industry, and reducing government burdens on our own lives.
herbs814 2 years ago 2
Try looking at it from the point of view of someone who is disabled from their former employment, can't get medical care and retraining. They have insurance . They don't get it. The patient is forced to public assistance programs and many end up committing suicide. Thousands. Now pretend we have an honest, fair, and just politial system. I know it takes a stretch of the imagination :-). In that case we could all have single payer, all be protected from disease, disability, poverty and death.
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
What we need is to take the power of money away from the Bankers. Especially the Fedeal Reserves. Then money printed by government can be used for its true purpose, the good and welfare of the people. No fighting over benefits. People get what they need to get well and back to work. They don't lose homes and savings like the 9/11 first responders are, and they don't die in misery. We need fundamental changes in government, insurance, and banking before anything will get better for all of us.
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
"The answer is to provide medical care for all illnesses, injuries, and diseases." Exactly the foolish, wasteful overspending that got us in this unnecessary affordability crisis in the first place. Insurance should never cover everything. That defeats the whole purpose of insurance. Why is health insurance expensive but auto insurance is not? Because auto insurance does NOT cover every oil change, and every wiper blade. Why is home insurance not expensive? It doesn't cover every leaky faucet.
herbs814 2 years ago
There is absolutely no flaw in saying I should NOT be made to pay anything I do not consent to. Government mandates in insurance are a form of tyranny that has no justification under than being a corrupt way to steal our money to pay off cronies.
herbs814 2 years ago
Nonsense herbs814. I am sure one day you will need health care of some sort. Maybe even for a disabling or life threatening illness. What will you do then if by choice you opted out of all insurance, whether private or government run? Just go home and die? No you wll be screaming "save me save me". But then no one will listen and you will be crippled and poor, or dead. I can assure you, the insurance companies in the U.S have been robbing you all blind for the last hundred years.
SuperNewf1 2 years ago
When I need health care I will be honest enough to pay for it myself, seek private charity, or find a way to do without. There is no excuse for ever supporting single-payer tyranny. Single-payer is the most evil system of all. It is the government that causes the problems in healthcare. Single-payer is pure EVIL.
herbs814 2 years ago
Not as evil as the insurance companies. Even when you have insurance they don't pay and peope are left lame or even dead. Watch "Sicko". By the way herbs814are you an insurance agent? And why should charity pay for your healh care? And do wthout? Tell me that if you develop diabetes or cancer. The reason the heath care sysem is F***** up is directly because of the insurance companies.
