If Henry Rollins were president, and an incident happened like it did in the senate when that Senator from South Carolina yelled "You Lie!" at Obama, Rollins would have jumped over the podium and kicked that guys ass.
re: the apologetic "hypocrisy" bit about Thanksgiving. hank must have forgotten he was talking to an Australian who have their own legacy of killing off and disenfranchising native people. I really wish he'd drop the self effacing American bullshit. We're *all* guilty of something...
"We". I (an Australian) am not guilty of anything people may have done in the past. Nor is Henry guilty of what past Americans did, and nor are you guilty of what people have done in the past. It's incorrect to assume people of any particular race guilty for what others of that particular race may have done in the past. Everyone is an individual. (and no-one chooses which race to be born into)
@jublywubly Australia isn't a military power that uses it's global clout to effect political change. That's where the difference lies. I don't think he ever attempts to make amends for things that happened in the past, only ensure that people understand that what the american administration does and what he american people want are often two different things.
@jublywubly You AREN'T an individual in such a context. You are part of society, and such, have an inheritance which sometimes requires acknowlegement as to how that inheritence was first attainted. It isn't about guilt, because you are right - we can't be guilty for things we didn't do. Although we can't choose which race we are born into, that is bizzare point because we are unable to choose anything before we are born. However, we can choose to equalise the status quo set up by our ancestors.
I'm an American, and frankly Thanksgiving is bullshit. My ancestors have caused almost every problem in history. It's not my fault, but that doesn't give me the right to be apathetic about it. I (like most people) was stuffed full of lies in school and set loose upon a lawless world. I resent the fake America I was taught about, I resent the real America we live in, Thanksgiving, in light of Native persecution is just heartless, and ludicrous. We gave them small pox for fucks sake!!!!!!
@liam69love Maybe you could exercise that brawny brain of yours and articulate what it is exactly you find so "blatantly" ignorant about what I said. I've been of fan of Henry's for over 25 years but I'm not a sycophant and I disagree with the new modern American patriotism that says you have to be be self effacing and apologetic to every other culture. Every nation on the planet has taken advantage of some group, it is not a uniquely American or Caucasian condition
@i3u7n5 i shall however you will regret it: You view countries as templates for characteristics of character within individuals. this is just simply kindergarten retarded. see people in terms of upbringing, entertainment and not in racial stereotype. go read a book. learn that there is no such thing as society or the state.

He has his own music/talk-show in America. He's also had his own band "Rollins Band" for the past twenty years. ;-) I've been to his spoken word shows twice. Well worth the money. He was on stage for about two hours non-stop each time! Amazing to hear him talk. He can go off topic a bit for ten minutes, then go back to what he was talking about without missing a beat. :-)
I don't belive that is true with this guy. I've seen him twice (in Canada) and he's VERY popular in North America. Both shows I went to, 3 and a half hours non-stop! It was amazing, and I can't wait for him to come back into town!

Thanks for the post. I'm an old rocker who always rated ROLLINS as the most overrated idiot in the rock world but I finally found a vid where he comes across as a well spoken, likeable, humble guy. And thats with Australias biggest dill interviewing him. Amazing. Still DO NOT rate him as a vocalist at all.
How could you sleep THERE? Actually I mean..I can see how you could SLEEP there, but that's still wway crazy...what a sick ass fuckin' family...I still don't know why we're in Iraq, but at least those fucks are dead
Thats because he is... but he's really not supposed to be giving intellectual interviews because he's a comedian... but still i mean it's Henry fucking Rollins for fucks sake! lol when you play with the big boys....

I don't know this Aussie's show or persona, but I've gotta say: I've watched a lot of Hank interviews over the years, and--as far as mainstream type shows--this is the only person I've seen who knew how to handle Hank and have a good time. Usually they have the "you're a legend"-vibe, or a "you're such a weird loner"-vibe.

Is it me or could Henry Rollins pass for Milo Aukerman's brother when wearing horn-rimmed glasses?
machinesbreathe 3 years ago 4
Yes! The whole time looking at him with the glasses the one thing that came to mind was Descendents' album covers.

I really dig this Rove guy (already knew of Rollins, of course) that was a slick interview.. wit + intelligence, I can get it
GlowStormLion 3 years ago 2
yeah unfortunately rove is Australias only real talk show host.
In reality, he is a childish, unintellegent douchebag.

Interviewer seems like a semi-intelligent fuckwit. But ROLLINS RULES!
GaeasBlessing 3 years ago 2
Thats because he is... but he's really not supposed to be giving intellectual interviews because he's a comedian... but still i mean it's Henry fucking Rollins for fucks sake! lol when you play with the big boys....
