  • I have just started using the Smallbiz theme and it is getting easier everyday. The support when I email them is fast and really helpful. They seem like a well organised company with a great customer care attitude. I think the support guy is Thomas and he is excellent.

  • Thanks for the video! It was very helpful!

  • Thank you very Much Don! I'm not a very fast learner at the technical mechanics of this kind of stuff coz I don't like to simply "Just Make it work". I like to make it work right, and to be honest, that slows me down.... Unless I find video's like this one!

    Thanks Don!!!

    Gary.

  • now I know and knowing is half the battle!

  • thanks for the video. after you create the photo and link on your sidebar, is there a way to open the link in a new window? thanks.

  • Thanks a lot Don! Great info!

  • Plus the image widget leaves a border around image, so this way is better I think, Thanks again. Second time viewing

  • thanks, really good

  • Thank you for the video very helpful

  • Thank you very much. I was searching for this for a lot of time and at last i got the correct one which was very informative.

  • Thanks for emailing me. I will try your suggestion for my sidebar on wordpress. I hope it works.

  • easier to just use the "Image Widget", but good video

  • @mastermic52 - that's cool, but not all themes have an Image widget. I think that is special to your theme.

  • Thx... Great Info. Just when I need it.

  • does this only work with self hosted wordpress because all i get is a copy of the url in the text area, and thats what shows up on the site also is the url of where the pic came from.

  • it was helpful but I wish the html code was larger and visable on the screen. its hard to read.

  • @maewilliams1 - I tried to zoom in... But if you go to the blog post linked to in my video description I have all the code there for you to copy. I can't include code in YouTube comments because they strip it out.

  • Hi, thanks for the video. I was glad to see this video as I've never successfully posted an image in HTML.

Lol, and I still haven't, although I tried posting exactly the same way you did. In your screen I believe it says a href="#", and then I posted my url and the other stuff just like you did. Nothing.

I'd really appreciate some help, I'm trying to come around to HTML, but I don't think it likes me. Thanks.

  • @walterwoods28 You need to replace the # with the URL you want to link to.

  • Trying to follow these instructions but I have no Appearances. I"m using 3.0.1. Where do I go for the widgets?

    Thanks

  • @vladiola - Well, it has to be there, the Appearances Tab is default in your WordPress Admin. What user role are you logged in with? Make sure to log in with an Admin userid if you want to change widgets or other appearance items on your site.

  • Hey, great video!

I followed your procedure to add images to the wordpress sidebar - images are on there, but there is no gap between them. Is there a special code that needs to be entered in order for the images to be separated?

    Thanks

  • @IamEshK - you probably just need to put a br or paragraph between them. I can't post code in YouTube comments, but if you go to the blog post linked to from the description of this video, you'll see the code snippets in the blog post. I hope this helps!

  • great and helpful!

  • Very helpful my brother. Thanksfor the info!!

  • thanks so much

  • I had no idea this could be done in a standard wordpress theme. Thanks!

  • That was helpful, hadn't a clue how to do it till I saw your video. Thanks.

  • @usuffo - certainly. Thanks for the comment.

  • Don,

How do I re-size the image in the widget? I don't see any dimensions to change in that code. Thanks!

  • @HankJMH - you have to resize the image when you upload it to WordPress or in the WordPress Media Gallery.

  • Don, thanks for the super-fast reply to my question and the info (code) that you showed on this video.

  • @HankJMH - You bet! I'm glad it helped.

  • Just before you paste the URL of the image into the code, you say something like, "I have this nice little snippet that will give us html code."

Where do I find that "snippet" or similar?

    Thanks

  • Hi HankJMH - The code snippet is in my blog post.

YouTube won't let me post code snippets or URLs in the comments, but I put a link to the blog post containing the code snippet in the description of this video.

Just look at the description to the right of the video for the link.

Let me know if you have any trouble.

    -Don

  • Would be great if I could read the "snippet"...

  • lareeadair - I tried but YouTube will not let me post any code snippets here. I posted them on my blog though, in the blog post related to this video. The link to my blog is in the description of this video (I also can't put URLs in the comments. YouTube is so restrictive.)

  • Great video. I especially like the tip about wrapping the image tag in a link tag. I just changed mine so it points to my about page.

  • Thanks MacG!
