I've raised 4. The one I have now, Beau/Scooter is the only one I've had that doesn't do "the bee sting" where they race all around like crazy for about a minute.. out of nowhere they are shooting all round the room and the halls jumping on everything. Some sort of burst of adrenalin out of nowhere. I'll always want a dachshund around. They have the reaction to new things like a young toddler.

@trevrulez54 xDD They are not natural killers. Dachshunds are sweet dogs. They were bred a long time ago for hunting rabbits, thats why they have theyre long skinny bodies. To fit into the rabbis holes.

These dogs are actually very sweet, and loving companions.

How many are they? I first counted ten, then eleven. I have a Dachshund too, his name is Lucky, and he's a smooth black and tan. Before we had him, we had a silver dapple smooth named Pepper.The Dachshund is my favorite breed. They are a canine burglar alarm, and they are a good doorbell too, their LOUD and SHRILL bark would wake up anyone.

I have six dachshunds and when their ready to play, they will chase each other around the couch. Its so funny. The littlest one, Chip, got excited one noght and ran. And ran and ran. He ran around the couch, through the kitchen, and through the chairs. Over and over. Haha, it was funny!

Bless you. It is because of people like you that I have my Dieter. He is a rescue Dachshund who was seriouly abused and neglected before he came to me. I got him from a local rescue - my mini Dachshund, Attitude, adores him and now he's a happy camper in our home. We've had him for five years and the fun, loving and playful dog he is today is a blessing to have. Bless you for being a person willing to harbor these animals until they can find good forever homes.

Yes I am. They take up all of my free time. But their lives are worth it. All the dogs have been rescued by Dachshund Rescue of North America (we have members in Canada,also). I foster them at my boarding kennel until a foster home opens up or they are adopted.

calm yourselves! just some light humor. i love dachshunds and the rescue work is a very admirable thing. i have rescued many dogs myself who have been cruely discarded along the country roads around my land. its sickening to think people can do that, regardless of breed. i love animals, always have. so don't think i am some kind of sick son of a bitch just because i enjoy a little light humor once in a while. i spend thousands of dollars to keep my animals well-kept each year.
