HELP~~~ 1st -- God bless you -- YOU ARE AWESOME!!! 2nd --- I have a "cheap" ukulele when I started to play and now - I want to buy a better ukulele. I have Oscar Schmidts OU-5 and OU-6 (baritone and concert) -- but I find them a bit "heavy".......
I am looking to buy a Standard in the $200 - $300 price range........many many many thanks!
Hi Shirley ,your playing is outstanding,I love it ,and thanks for your comment on my ,After You ve Gone, tune ,have a nice Christmas, warm regards all the way from the Netherlands, Kees Nipius.
I like the little Roy Smeck flare you inject into your playing (he is from Reading Pennsylvania). You play with a wonderful sense of joy. Nicely done.
Terrific posting! How could all that knowledge not help anyone interested in music or the ukulele. Thank you Shirley for sharing those gems of the trade.
thank u im going to keep on until i get that strum of yours i really enjoyed the lesson and i managed to get in with you occasionally !! great instructor
Hello, my name is Kenny and I was in her store ( Ukulele Paradise in Huntington Beach, CA 714-842-9250 ) yesterday and purchased my first Uke. They were very helpful and super friendly...no pressure and they don't make you feel like a rookie like some other stores out there. I picked up my Uke, soft bag, pitch pipe and a cord dictionary for about $100.00...not to mention the service with a smile !
I'm already hearing some great sounds out of my Uke ! thanks again

Thank you! Wonderful! How generous you are. Is that your store in the background? How much is a soprano uke with flaming in the wood, and gaudily trimmed out with abalone?
This is a wonderful tutorial! Mahalo! I'm grateful for all the help I can get in learning to play the ukulele. I'd love to see you do more uku tutorials. Aloha!
Just in case any of you watching this are from Orange County, Calif, Shirley has a store called ISLAND BAZAAR on Gothard Street. She sponsors two uke groups every week: Tuesdays they play mostly Hawaiian music and on Thursdays they play "All American Favorites" from the 40's onward. Great groups, great and FUN people, and a FANTASTIC leader, Shirley. The nicest and most fun person you'll ever meet. Promise!
