Bloodedge is Ragna from one of the many possibilities of the continuum shift and he was capable of fighting against a creature that destroyed a large portion of the world for a year. But, considering that he fought the Black Beast for a year straight without the grimoire and even memories, and died willingly, he might be an equal to Sol.

@StraightUpMovies My vote would be to the guy that is over a hundred years old, helped create the Gears, some of the most powerful beings in the world, became a Gear created a set of weapons specifically made to kill Gears, fought in an all out war against the Gears, stole his own weapon from an Order that kept his weapon as a sacred treasure, and became a bounty hunter. Sol is effectively a 100+ years old, scientist veteran Gear bounty hunter. Definitely more badass.

I think people are too harsh on Ragna. Ragna's a cool guy and can be called a bad ass. I see people say others think he's bad ass because of loldarkpowers. The man has character. Sure I think Sol is cooler but my point is stop downplaying Ragna.
@JHawk201 I like how you dont even know what move Sol does and you still think Black Onslaught is better. First of all, they're both instant kill moves so one can't be better than the other because both would end up dead. Second, Sol's Napalm Death (his instant kill) would win because in Black Onslaught has to meet certain conditions to be done. Sol can Napalm Death whenever he feels like it.
Ragna's alright, but he reminds me too much of Ichigo. Spiky hair, big sword, hakama pants, called the Grim Reaper (Shinigami), and is more or less a heroic determinator. Sol, on the other hand, reminds me of Jack Rakan and Sanosuke, with that gritty, 'I'll break your legs then walk away if you fuck with me' kinda persona. If the two were to fight, I'd say Sol would beat his ass the first few times, then Ragna will pull a new special ability out of his ass and win later, a la shonen anime.

I'd go so far as to say they'd fight each other to a standstill and then become great friends. They really do have remarkably similar personalities and motivations; the only real difference is that Ragna tends to get more worked-up and loud-mouthed than soul when he's aggravated.

Sol's more bad ass for an easy reason: Sol isn't bothered by anybody (well, technically, everything bothers him) while Ragna is constantly bothered by Platinum, Rachel, Tao, Nu, Jin, Hazama... I think the list goes on.
Anyways, both are cool, but I prefer Ragna's theme.
To answer the uploader's question, Ragna's design is more badass, but Sol's Theme is better (IMO). NOW, if these two badasses were to rumble, I'd have to say that Sol would win, although I'm very rusty in GG and only played BB for about two months. Not sayin Ragna is a chump or anything since I main him, but as far as concept, Sol would probably win since GG characters can 1 hit kill their opponents, lol. @Hoafresh25 Sol has hundreds of years of fighting experience and is a Gear but he holds back a lot of his power and is still able to beat down everyone in Guilty Gear except for That Man and Slayer. Doubt Bloodedge can beat him.

The White hair, red coat-combo has proven to create a badass character, so it's not that uncommon. Also, just in comparision of Ragna and Sol there a a lot of smilaritys between then so Ragna seems to me to be more of an BB adaptation of Sol than a copy of Dante. Also rebellion is most likely more to the fact that he went rampage in the NOL alone and is the highes bounty ever.
@gammaraptor1 Sol's the prototype gear, so he's immortal and super strong. He has a sword called fireseal. He also has move called Dragon Install, which basically puts him in overdrive(he's fast and most of his move are increased).
Nothing against you but Sol took down the Herald of Destruction, A time travelling female version of Hazama, and the Man who turned him into a gear.

If you have played BBCS2, then you might know, that Ragna got his hands on the Idea Engine, an artificial causality weapon and handed Terumi, who created the Azure Grimmoire and simply nullyfies it during theyr battle his ass. Also he defeated Mu #12 that was according to the story the perfection of the black beast wich killed half of the earths poulation. It's pretty even.

@DarkUnknown48 Okay, that would cause an advantage for Sol. He also has the range advantage, since Ragna has a very strong focus on close combat. As always, the first srike can already decide the battle and Sol can get multiple firsts right off the bat. But that doesn't mean that Ragna has no chance. If he can get close in, he is able to dish out a lot of pain so a battle between the two of them would be pretty awsome and quite even. Well then, Cheers!
Comparing BlazBlue or anything in it to anything from Guilty Gear is like comparing Alternative Rock to classic Heavy Metal. Alt-rock may be pretty magical and kickass and everyone loves it... but everyone knows Heavy Metal is the older, meaner, bike-riding, booze-chugging, leather-and-metal-clad big brother that everyone respected and looked up to back in the day.
Guilty Gear is to fighting games what Heavy Metal is to music: The original badass.

Ok, a lot of people don't seem to be aware of Sol's backstory, so here goes. Sol is the first Gear, part of the research team that made the Gears in the first place. He's also damn near 200 years old, and is responsible for a large portion of the plot of Guilty Gear. There's a Wiki, please go check the story out, he's not just randomly badass.

Ragna is a far more in depth charecter, I really hate charecters that are "just badass" like that. I feel like they jumped out of a bad action movie, wheras Ragna has a charecter developement plot; He really fought every inch of the way to become what he is. Essentially, Ragna is a true badass, wheras Sol is simply the spoilt prince who had badassery handed to him and simply takes it for granted. Oh, and Ragna is fucking hilarious
@JoyousFury Ragna got the Azure Grimoire, then Jubei trained him, then he got Bloodscythe. Sol became a Gear, fought in the Crusades, then he got Fireseal. Ragna didn't struggle through anything. He got into fights, then he won them. Hazama beats him, then he gets Lambda's Idea Engine, then he beats Hazama. Ragna didn't go through character development as nothing about him changed. The only difference between Ragna and Sol is that Ragna almost loses, then he wins. Sol just wins.
@jinngaru I know that, but he didn't actually wield the Fireseal until after his work with the Holy Order which was during the Crusades. Fireseal was just kept as a treasure by the Holy Order until Sol left and stole. I'm very well aware that Sol made it.
@phantomzero09 I've said it before, Sol would wreck Ragna. Sol keeps his power at a minimum in all of his fights because he's a Gear and would utterly destroy anything in his way if he didn't. Sol could use Napalm Death to instantly kill Ragna. Black Onslaught is heavy metal? Every single song in Guilty Gear is heavy metal. What's your point? Black Onslaught would be a lot better without those crappy vocals. Plus Sol has like, 4 theme songs.
I'd say Sol is more badass than Ragna, but I wouldn't say he's a more interesting character than Rags, simply because you can sum Sol up with just that one word: Badass... Ragna, in the meantime, has flaws. Quite a lot of them. And his badassness shines through the best when he overcomes those flaws... So, in my eyes, Sol is pure badass, but he is so in a very Marty Stu-ish way. Ragna, however, is a far more impressive badass, because he has to actually struggle to be one.

Even if I were going by design, I still wouldn't vote for Ragna. Simply because BlazBlue's characters all have that new age anime aesthetic which honestly doesn't appeal to me. They honestly remind me of CLAMP's character design, which I do not like at all.

@Quintega They had been struggling over the rights a while before they lost them and yes I am very aware Arc got the right to Guilty Gear. While I'm not sure exactly when they lost their rights, I am very sure that BlazBlue was made as a Guilty Gear replacement.
@redmage2000 I told you it was in 09 look up the news articles from Kotaku and other game news sites they all say 2009, and they weren't struggling it was a legal mishap when Sega got bought. They didn't even go to court the guy just gave it back
@Quintega They're not going to officially state that BB is replacement. That would alienate GG fans and when Calamity Trigger came out they wanted GG fans to play it. Obviously it had something to do with the IP rights and the Sammy and Sega merger. Otherwise they would've just made another GG game.

Ragna's personality is way too copied and pasted, half the time I almost feel like Im watching Ichigo fight. And Ichigo's personality is also very overused and taken.
Sol as he's dealt with so much compared to Ragna. Not to say that Ragna isn't rather badass, he's just rather inexperienced compared to Sol who has been fighting for the better part of 150 years and generally goes toe to toe with gears. And as seemingly 'weak' Ky is, in a fair fight at least, Ky'd easily beat Jin as while Jin is a jerkass claiming credit for defeating humans, Ky's fought and beaten some gears himself. The higher power ranks of GG is a ways beyond the higher ranks of BB.
@ReiKusanagi an out of gameplay counterargument though is that Ragna fought off the Black Beast for a whole year to give the Six Heroes enough time to make a counterattack to beat the Black Beast with. I've sadly never gotten to play Guilty Gear so you may be right but I thought it was worth pointing out for your consideration. I have heard the difficulty is more intense but as characters Raggy and Sol should have a fair and pretty close fight against each other.

@StraightUpMovies My vote would be to the guy that is over a hundred years old, helped create the Gears, some of the most powerful beings in the world, became a Gear created a set of weapons specifically made to kill Gears, fought in an all out war against the Gears, stole his own weapon from an Order that kept his weapon as a sacred treasure, and became a bounty hunter. Sol is effectively a 100+ years old, scientist veteran Gear bounty hunter. Definitely more badass.

First of all, they're both instant kill moves so one can't be better than the other because both would end up dead. Second, Sol's Napalm Death (his instant kill) would win because in Black Onslaught has to meet certain conditions to be done. Sol can Napalm Death whenever he feels like it.

Ragna's alright, but he reminds me too much of Ichigo. Spiky hair, big sword, hakama pants, called the Grim Reaper (Shinigami), and is more or less a heroic determinator. Sol, on the other hand, reminds me of Jack Rakan and Sanosuke, with that gritty, 'I'll break your legs then walk away if you fuck with me' kinda persona. If the two were to fight, I'd say Sol would beat his ass the first few times, then Ragna will pull a new special ability out of his ass and win later, a la shonen anime.

I'd go so far as to say they'd fight each other to a standstill and then become great friends. They really do have remarkably similar personalities and motivations; the only real difference is that Ragna tends to get more worked-up and loud-mouthed than soul when he's aggravated.
I love both and refuse to disparage either.

Sol's more bad ass for an easy reason: Sol isn't bothered by anybody (well, technically, everything bothers him) while Ragna is constantly bothered by Platinum, Rachel, Tao, Nu, Jin, Hazama... I think the list goes on.
Anyways, both are cool, but I prefer Ragna's theme.

To answer the uploader's question, Ragna's design is more badass, but Sol's Theme is better (IMO). NOW, if these two badasses were to rumble, I'd have to say that Sol would win, although I'm very rusty in GG and only played BB for about two months. Not sayin Ragna is a chump or anything since I main him, but as far as concept, Sol would probably win since GG characters can 1 hit kill their opponents, lol. i learned to love both characters, both of em are good still, sol wins by a mile. i can't seem to get it but isn't ragna's character a little bit too much like dmc's dante? i mean, just look at im: white hair, red coat, black shirt, big sword, dark element, plus his theme's song's called "rebellion"- same name as dante's sword. im not saying it a bad thing, but isn't it too strange of a coincidence? ;D

@HereticKain i hate it when peoble do that and think everything needs to be connected to different games. The White hair, red coat-combo has proven to create a badass character, so it's not that uncommon. Also, just in comparision of Ragna and Sol there a a lot of smilaritys between then so Ragna seems to me to be more of an BB adaptation of Sol than a copy of Dante. Also rebellion is most likely more to the fact that he went rampage in the NOL alone and is the highes bounty ever.

@gammaraptor1 Sol's the prototype gear, so he's immortal and super strong. He has a sword called fireseal. He also has move called Dragon Install, which basically puts him in overdrive(he's fast and most of his move are increased).
Nothing against you but Sol took down the Herald of Destruction, A time travelling female version of Hazama, and the Man who turned him into a gear.
I think Ragna couldn't do that.

If you have played BBCS2, then you might know, that Ragna got his hands on the Idea Engine, an artificial causality weapon and handed Terumi, who created the Azure Grimmoire and simply nullyfies it during theyr battle his ass. Also he defeated Mu #12 that was according to the story the perfection of the black beast wich killed half of the earths poulation. It's pretty even.

@DarkUnknown48 Okay, that would cause an advantage for Sol. He also has the range advantage, since Ragna has a very strong focus on close combat. As always, the first srike can already decide the battle and Sol can get multiple firsts right off the bat. But that doesn't mean that Ragna has no chance. If he can get close in, he is able to dish out a lot of pain so a battle between the two of them would be pretty awsome and quite even. Well then, Cheers!

Comparing BlazBlue or anything in it to anything from Guilty Gear is like comparing Alternative Rock to classic Heavy Metal. Alt-rock may be pretty magical and kickass and everyone loves it... but everyone knows Heavy Metal is the older, meaner, bike-riding, booze-chugging, leather-and-metal-clad big brother that everyone respected and looked up to back in the day.

I know I can't be the only one who doesn't like Ragna's design. He just looks like another shonen anime hero. Then, there's all the people who think he's the shit because he has shadow powers. What is the big deal with dark powers? Does it make you feel like some dark, brooding hero? It's kind of lame. Sol's design is a lot more original. A short, blunt sword thats on fire held with reverse grip plus a belt with the word "FREE" crudely etched in. That's cool. Giant sword and dark powers? Meh.

Ok, a lot of people don't seem to be aware of Sol's backstory, so here goes. Sol is the first Gear, part of the research team that made the Gears in the first place. He's also damn near 200 years old, and is responsible for a large portion of the plot of Guilty Gear. There's a Wiki, please go check the story out, he's not just randomly badass.

Ragna is a far more in depth charecter, I really hate charecters that are "just badass" like that. I feel like they jumped out of a bad action movie, wheras Ragna has a charecter developement plot; He really fought every inch of the way to become what he is. Essentially, Ragna is a true badass, wheras Sol is simply the spoilt prince who had badassery handed to him and simply takes it for granted. Oh, and Ragna is fucking hilarious

@JoyousFury Ragna got the Azure Grimoire, then Jubei trained him, then he got Bloodscythe. Sol became a Gear, fought in the Crusades, then he got Fireseal. Ragna didn't struggle through anything. He got into fights, then he won them. Hazama beats him, then he gets Lambda's Idea Engine, then he beats Hazama. Ragna didn't go through character development as nothing about him changed. The only difference between Ragna and Sol is that Ragna almost loses, then he wins. Sol just wins.

@jinngaru I know that, but he didn't actually wield the Fireseal until after his work with the Holy Order which was during the Crusades. Fireseal was just kept as a treasure by the Holy Order until Sol left and stole. I'm very well aware that Sol made it.

@phantomzero09 I've said it before, Sol would wreck Ragna. Sol keeps his power at a minimum in all of his fights because he's a Gear and would utterly destroy anything in his way if he didn't. Sol could use Napalm Death to instantly kill Ragna. Black Onslaught is heavy metal? Every single song in Guilty Gear is heavy metal. What's your point? Black Onslaught would be a lot better without those crappy vocals. Plus Sol has like, 4 theme songs.

I'd say Sol is more badass than Ragna, but I wouldn't say he's a more interesting character than Rags, simply because you can sum Sol up with just that one word: Badass... Ragna, in the meantime, has flaws. Quite a lot of them. And his badassness shines through the best when he overcomes those flaws... So, in my eyes, Sol is pure badass, but he is so in a very Marty Stu-ish way. Ragna, however, is a far more impressive badass, because he has to actually struggle to be one.

Everyone here comparing who is 'stronger' in the videogames, and are completely missing the fact that the question who's 'design' is cooler, AKA who LOOKS cooler.
My Vote goes to Ragna.
Plus, these two are from completely different decades of COOL.
Sol is still riding the 'Big Muscular man' fad, I mean come on, think about it, every hero before 2005 was basically the same super buff dude.
Ragna is of the new generations more 'slim but stylin' cool.

Even if I were going by design, I still wouldn't vote for Ragna. Simply because BlazBlue's characters all have that new age anime aesthetic which honestly doesn't appeal to me. They honestly remind me of CLAMP's character design, which I do not like at all.

@Quintega They had been struggling over the rights a while before they lost them and yes I am very aware Arc got the right to Guilty Gear. While I'm not sure exactly when they lost their rights, I am very sure that BlazBlue was made as a Guilty Gear replacement.

@Quintega They're not going to officially state that BB is replacement. That would alienate GG fans and when Calamity Trigger came out they wanted GG fans to play it. Obviously it had something to do with the IP rights and the Sammy and Sega merger. Otherwise they would've just made another GG game.

Sol as he's dealt with so much compared to Ragna. Not to say that Ragna isn't rather badass, he's just rather inexperienced compared to Sol who has been fighting for the better part of 150 years and generally goes toe to toe with gears. And as seemingly 'weak' Ky is, in a fair fight at least, Ky'd easily beat Jin as while Jin is a jerkass claiming credit for defeating humans, Ky's fought and beaten some gears himself. The higher power ranks of GG is a ways beyond the higher ranks of BB.

@ReiKusanagi an out of gameplay counterargument though is that Ragna fought off the Black Beast for a whole year to give the Six Heroes enough time to make a counterattack to beat the Black Beast with. I've sadly never gotten to play Guilty Gear so you may be right but I thought it was worth pointing out for your consideration. I have heard the difficulty is more intense but as characters Raggy and Sol should have a fair and pretty close fight against each other.
