Yea, I'd say the discussion of magic is VERY REDUNDANT..... As far as I've seen it seems to the changing of labels of things, and a lot of magics seems to me to relate directly back to psychology. The question I have is: are people really in control of what they want?

A decent video, although like others here, I can't bring myself to swallow your exact definition... "Magic" as studied by scholars and anthropologists is primarily geared towards the supernatural, or ordeals dealing with different states of consciousness.
Was a caveman stabbing a deer a "magical act"? I would say not. What about the elaborate ritual done beforehand with chanting, shouting, and donning wolf skins to invoke the strength of a predator? Definitely yes.

As a Thelemite and magician I do respect Crowley, but have serious issues with that definition of Magick. When I say I did an act of magick, the last thing i want anyone to equate it with is writing a book, using the toilet or having lunch. To me it is an act that recieved a result outside the scope of my physical means. Crowley did magick, real magick, but his definition there just bothers me.
I have a problem with Crowley's definition of Magick, and in retrospect your video... change in according to one's will erases magick as most of us mean. My use of the toilet, eating lunch and doing laundry is NOT magick. that definition has allowed magicians to think they are doing magick when simply living life. and what of causing change outside of our will? IF my true will is not to harm another, and I utilize the Goetia to cause harm to another (outside my will) was that magick?
I am very much not the intended audience for this video. Hopefully this isn't representative of the whole series, because it didn't really give much info. That said, a lot of people who aren't familiar with magic outside of fiction often have a hard time grasping the basic concepts, so it may not be overkill in this case.
Hopefully, Right Where You Are Sitting Now will continue with its level of detail in the podcast, rather than pandering to the same audience as this....

The problem with all of this and Crowley's definition is that it is not what anyone means by magic.
Instead people mean these absurd laws like the Law of Contagion or the Law of Similarity and other BS like banishing, invocation, astral travel, divination, scrying, etc that do not work. Sir James Frazer rightly calls magic the "bastard sister of science" - BS practices that *don't* cause change in the world. Books on magical practices are about things like this, not how to start a car. Get it?
This reminds me of the power of suggestion. There was a book and a movie made about it called "The Secret". If you haven't checked it out you definitely should. The two are a lot alike. Also keep in mind that "magic" is very different from "magick".
A word used to mean one thing can be adopted and applied to something else not related to its original intention of use. I believe Crowley used the word Magick not Magic. There is a difference. There are several definition of the word Magic. Some of those definitions and evil and some are good. Magic is what ever definition you are using for it. However my studies have found that Magic is just calling upon any supernatural force. That could also include calling on God. Which means magic is nether good or evil in and of itself. It depends on who you are calling upon.

A decent video, although like others here, I can't bring myself to swallow your exact definition... "Magic" as studied by scholars and anthropologists is primarily geared towards the supernatural, or ordeals dealing with different states of consciousness.
Was a caveman stabbing a deer a "magical act"? I would say not. What about the elaborate ritual done beforehand with chanting, shouting, and donning wolf skins to invoke the strength of a predator? Definitely yes.

Sorry but this strikes me as a watered down rationalization of magic. The problem is while you can say it is nothing supernatural, it doesn't address what you THINK is natural and possible, which is NOT the same as the truth of the matter as it exists - even if some of the phenomena is relatively rare. There's the question of what using the mind involves, too since one obvious example is the New Thought movement and things like The Secret where most people think in terms of making money, but...

As a Thelemite and magician I do respect Crowley, but have serious issues with that definition of Magick. When I say I did an act of magick, the last thing i want anyone to equate it with is writing a book, using the toilet or having lunch. To me it is an act that recieved a result outside the scope of my physical means. Crowley did magick, real magick, but his definition there just bothers me.

I have a problem with Crowley's definition of Magick, and in retrospect your video... change in according to one's will erases magick as most of us mean. My use of the toilet, eating lunch and doing laundry is NOT magick. that definition has allowed magicians to think they are doing magick when simply living life. and what of causing change outside of our will? IF my true will is not to harm another, and I utilize the Goetia to cause harm to another (outside my will) was that magick?

I am very much not the intended audience for this video. Hopefully this isn't representative of the whole series, because it didn't really give much info. That said, a lot of people who aren't familiar with magic outside of fiction often have a hard time grasping the basic concepts, so it may not be overkill in this case.
Hopefully, Right Where You Are Sitting Now will continue with its level of detail in the podcast, rather than pandering to the same audience as this....

Listening to some teen media student with very little life experience , explain the process of divine creation and the concept pf genuine magick/occultism that has baffled brilliant scientists of our time is beyond parody. To make it worse she recites crowley from a autocue. Hilarious!!

FYI Crowley rhymes with holy :) There are a few other things to nitpick, like that there are actually plenty of black robes and people worshipping the devil (in a luciferean, promethean sense), and I think some of your dates are off, but anyway, excellent overall!
It is wonderful to see someone clearly explain the definition of Magick as given by 666. Consider doing a piece on the Law of Thelema?

The problem with all of this and Crowley's definition is that it is not what anyone means by magic.
Instead people mean these absurd laws like the Law of Contagion or the Law of Similarity and other BS like banishing, invocation, astral travel, divination, scrying, etc that do not work. Sir James Frazer rightly calls magic the "bastard sister of science" - BS practices that *don't* cause change in the world. Books on magical practices are about things like this, not how to start a car. Get it?

This reminds me of the power of suggestion. There was a book and a movie made about it called "The Secret". If you haven't checked it out you definitely should. The two are a lot alike. Also keep in mind that "magic" is very different from "magick".

Interesting subject and video. Though, I really think this type of information would be a lot more interesting in a documentary style. Such as a main narrator voicing over images and video rather than a person describing talking in front of a green screen. Let me know if you need an editor. I'm experienced in the latest version of Final Cut Pro and Adobe After affects. I'll work for free as long as I'm given credit.

Since i'm a one man production team, I can't afford to spend more than about four hours of time for any particular videos. That includes research, shooting & editing.

I believe Crowley used the word Magick not Magic. There is a difference. There are several definition of the word Magic. Some of those definitions and evil and some are good. Magic is what ever definition you are using for it. However my studies have found that Magic is just calling upon any supernatural force. That could also include calling on God. Which means magic is nether good or evil in and of itself. It depends on who you are calling upon.
