I received the album "Hope" just as it was released (2000?). I can't remember the year but it was given to me while building the KNSD studio in downtown San Diego, by a relative of one of the band. It soon became my favorite album of all time, and still is. There's a depth to their lyrics that I'm unable to express, other than to say, "Their lyrics are pure poetry". Something you don't find too often these days. Someday, I will have to see them live and give them a thanks.
This is a great band, one of those unique soulful local bands that you'd be lucky to stumble across with great originals and great players (Richard Bredice is one of the best most tasteful guitar players anywhere). Each one of these guys exudes soul and depth, that's what missing in alot of music today, I wish they would get the national attention that they deserve but even if they never do, I hope they are always together for those of us lucky enough to catch them locally.
I used to hang out at The Marine Room in Laguna Beach and listen to these guys play. Awesome! There's no better chillin' music than that made by these guys.

The Missiles are an Orange County legend. That amazing voice of Poul Pederson must be heard live to fully appreciate.

Trust me, every boy in this video...every man who plays in this band...deserves attention.
Visit the Marine Room in Laguna Beach CA any Sunday 4-8 *or* every Thursday evening 8ish to 12ish.
