  • Guys..we spend thousands for camera equipment, what is a bit more to actually learn fantastic tricks. I am as cheap as the next guy, but Bert is one of us. A photog, who loves what we love and as has shared so much with us for free so far. It is just like going to a shoot and not getting paid for the work you put into it...we all know how that feels.. I admire his passion, and will buy it.

  • $78 for shipping a DVD?? come on. I dont mind paying for the DVD but delivery is crazy! I ship a box from US to australia for $40. this is just a DVD! Love your work though Bert

  • Too much expensive. I´ll still watching "Confessions of a photographer"

  • Is that actually Bert in the 'o' of the logo? :)

About the price... I'm undecided. Looks like a lot of time and work went into the making of this DVD - time that could otherwise have been spent earning money. It *is* a lot of money for non-professionals, however. Perhaps a discount for college students would be reasonable? Or a 'lite' version compiled from some of the more basic techniques.

  • Knowing Bert, the DVD is worth its every penny/cent ; might be too expensive for some but it's an investment that will soon pay off

  • am getting one for sure !

  • To those complaining about the cost of the DVD, do you realise that with the techniques you'll learn you would easily make back the cost of the DVD (plus more) in the first photography job you do?

If you're not willing to invest 125 euro to help with a future photography career then you definitely don't want to be a photographer.

Bert, congrats on the release of the DVD.

  • Today we have the 1. of April... 125€... I think it is an joke ???

A good book cost 40€, and this is the limit for me.

Sorry, I´m very interested about the DVD, but it´s too expencive!

  • I'm waiting so read from someone who will compare this to the cost of our gear, but this still costs too much for a hobbyist like me that might only watch it for entertainment. And yes, such prices encourage piracy. At 40$C I'll buy it right now, a little more and I'll hesitate, and at 180$C I'll just hope to get it some other way... How many people would buy this at 40$C compared to 180$C ? I'm guessing more than enough to make more money! Sorry Bert, even though I'm a fan of your work.

  • LOL at 00:18

  • 50 € I would pay for it without a doubt, but for 125€... I'll wait for the "Pirate-Bay-Version" ;-) (just kidding)

  • wow, really great looking dvd.

But 120€ for the download-version or 175€ for the DVD!?! com on!

    NO WAY!

  • Cool.. but expensive :(

cant you sell chapter by chapter?

  • Don't think too much into the price. It's an investment. Purchasing this DVD is far cheaper than spending 3 years at univeristy or college to learn less! You're getting real knowledge from a professional photographer.

  • I think you won't get the training/info from one DVD nowhere near compared to a real school with practices and academical trainig.

  • @tmtke that may be true, however I believe studying photography is not a good avenue to take if you wish to do it for a career. If you have the gear and the talent, you can replace getting degree with a kickass portfolio. An instructional DVD, such as this one, might be all one needs to understand the use of light in photography and they can go from there to improve. Those who have taken the experimental avenue of learning for themselves may be more likely to purchase this than a student.

  • @jeppy85 It is true, there are a lot of self taught photographers, whose are really talented, I just pointed out that a DVD does not replace hard work, experimenting and training.

  • Lol, avatar will be cheaper on bluray

  • I think it's reasonable; Zack Arias' OneLight is $250 and this I think might be something that adds on to it.

  • are u freaking serious??

i mean 170 dollars for a DVD Download and 70 extra dollars if i want a real DVD ship to my house?

i was really looking forward to buy this DVD but now I'm disappointed and I'm not buying it... i know that you want to make at least what you invested on the making of the DVD but making it EXPENSIVE it's gonna make the buyers go away or think more that once before buying it .. if the price would've been around $50 more people would buy it and you would make more money

  • yes!!

  • I hope it isn't too expensive but I must say I can't wait for it

  • so curious to see the DVD !!!

  • With the knowledge you get from the dvd, I believe you can easily make out the money you have spent on the dvd.

  • $178.50 CAD.... *Cries*

  • I'm a fan of your work Bert, but 125€ is way too expensive for me aswell...I have no idea how much other instructional DVDs cost, but I wouldn't pay more than 50€ either.

  • Even if you know that the dvd is 3,5h long!? That's like nothing.

  • @zillionx considering he has made a full length DVD of how to achieve images that are shown on his flickr for example. I would charge the same if i were showing the world my secrets.

  • $164 is way too steep for my limited means =/

  • XD Finally

  • Can't wait for it!!!
