Does someone know if those who are using the old processor will be out from second life? New viewers are using intel so I am not sure if they will adapt them to the old ones.
I can confirm that Gwyneth is on the level. Out of interest installed Snowglobe on an old single-core Athlon XP (1.66 GHz) machine with an Nvidia FX 5200 graphics card (128 DRAM) and 1 GB of SDRAM running Windows XP. Not only can I enter Second Life at quite acceptable levels of speed and resolution but I can do it wirelessly using a 3 Mobile USB Broadband modem!
This runs great! Ive been using Cool Viewer since the last few Emerald Releases seemed geared toward higher end machines. My laptop isnt that old , maybe a couple of years, but the graphics set is sort of oddball-nvidia 7150m. Snowglobe runs like a champ, very smooth!!
For the records my son is usually on teen grid with an iBook G4 and 768Mb RAM with more than decent results.
I don't want to initiate the usual PC vs Mac war but I guess that people who challenged you are probably referring to 2003/2004 PCs running XP and tons of spyware in background. THAT would make SL experience impossible (-:

I think it has a lot to do with Snowglobe it's so much better than their regular one and it's great for filming with

That goes without saying :) I hope that the new SL 2.0 viewer is based on the Snowglobe code...
