  • yea roger federer begins inside the box too...whahaha..

  • Every tennis player on the internet should watch this!

  • Now, one hardly ever uses the walk step/hop step on the baseline during a rally, or am i mistaken. That footwork is mainly used during transition shots, hop step...

The walk step can be used when tacking the ball on the rise very close to the baseline. Appreciate your feedback..

  • nice socks Yan... xD

  • I can't wait to try this drill"

  • you and yan should do some baseline rally please!!!!!!!!! :D

  • yan sucks dick.

  • I have a question. When one is at the baseline should one use the cross-step all the time? even for balls that are far away from you? or should one just sprint and pivot and then sprint back to the middle?

  • i couldn't rememer if you hopped off your left leg or right leg (for rightie). on practice swings it felt like I should hop off my right, lol.

haven't tried these on the court.

  • will good job partnering with other coaches.

  • @iSuperDean It was the most popular tweener when tweeners were first becoming popular. It was also Andy Roddick's racket at the time.

  • Will ,

Excellent videos. Now in most of these footworks, it seems you have to move forward (walking, inside, karaoke etc). What happens when you are pushed back because your opponent hit a deep shot close to the baseline. I guess you just adjust and play the best shot you can come up with.

  • What do u guys mean by having the service line as your barometer?

  • So in the walking step... The second step the foot should be in the direction towards the target???

  • OK nice, I've just been reminded of what I've been doing wrong since I started following Roger in 2000/2001... I thought i had a fluent talented style so I wanted to float on the court like he did. This made my footwork very sloppy over the years, apparently I thought that Fed didn't put any effort into his footwork, lol... These videos are a great reminder that we need to focus on ourselfs and through these steps create our most suitable style. Thanks!

  • @Elwink and eventually be so comfortable that you can focus on your opponent more, right! :)

  • i just noticed that the guy didnt miss any balls.

  • great stuff! Also the previous new videos with Yann, really liked the way you guys explained why it makes sense to play inside the service boxes, I also do that very frequently. Particularly when I'm introducing somebody to the game I have them play with a sponge ball & get them to learn proper forehand technique first. As soon as they're able to get over the net consistently it puts me on the run, really tests my stamina & footwork, next I play lefty so to them it's like a mirror + exercise 4me

  • hi will , thx for the videos. im practice the walking step since yesterday, can you do a video like the windshield wiper forehand? great work

PD : i destroy my dad with ´´how to beat a pusher´´ thanks a lot

  • @FYB2007 Will, if you're searching for a racquet and you use the nblade why not wait until january and get the blx blade instead of looking all over the place for a new racquet?

  • feel free to skip the first 3 or so minutes

  • My my. I'm only half way through this video, but I think this version is definitely an improvement over the previous version which was already very informative. I really appreciate Yann Auzoux for coming back to share his expertise once more despite the redundancy. The guy can be a bit verbose and repetitive (it's pretty clear that Will's patience is being tested at times, lol), but he explains things so darn well.

  • Those shirts are **@@BRIGHT@@**. Good video though. I wonder how badly Will would crush me on the tennis court.

  • @adronias well my secret weapon is to wear really bright shirts + blind my opponents. 60 percent of the time it works every time...

  • @FYB2007 Exactly!

  • @FYB2007 seriously, I think I will try that.

  • @FYB2007 love the anchor man reference...

  • Awesome vid, Will and Yann! I would think that this secret would be found in FYBP! thank you!

  • @antoniospades no prob. we've got other secrets in there =)

  • This is a great video, it's actually amazing how you sit back and look at pro's who have changed the ENTIRE UNIVERSE of the game by the way THEY play, and we see it and millions of us use it in our games without even realising that person first implemented it.

  • hey will, do you give tennis lessons in real? Or just online?

  • @xXZyclopenJanXx used to teach "in real life." now just online.

  • Waiting for the "anti-pusher" video. :D

Thanks Will! Amazing videos as usual.

  • so are those tennis socks,or soccer socks,LOL!!!!!!!!!

but anyway THANK YOU FOR ALL the helpful videos, your generous contribution brings happiness towards those passionate in tennis

  • i remember that you and Yann had one video recently too and I want to watch it again but I can't find it. I think it's of those "unl*sted" video, can you pls pm me the link of it? Tks a ton!

  • @ductrung3993 oh i remember the titles now, it's "how to beat a pusher" :D

  • @ductrung3993 the video you're referring to is probably private. we currently don't have permission to use the footage we shot at the legg mason.

  • @FYB2007 oh, hope that we can see it again soon then :)

  • hey will, where are these tennis courts?

  • @yangj93 holton arms, a hs outside of dc

  • don't you waste a lot of time moving back to the line after every hit, would this not be better used to start an attack, to continue moving into the court.... I don't know, i tried to play using the walking and hopping steps over the weekend, and it just seemed to throw off my rhythm, did it feel natural for you right off the bat will?

  • @mrandall61 not necessarily. just because you move forward, into your shot doesn't mean you want to continue moving forward after you hit, i.e. approach the net. if that's the case (and it often is) then you'll want to back up like we're doing in the video.

yes, the walking and hopping steps were natural to me right off the bat. but i've played tennis for a long, long time. don't worry if you weren't comfortable right away. that will come w/ practice!

  • Great vid. Question, on the walking step do both feet step forward (sequentially)? In the first footwork video w/ Yann it looked like the first move in the walking step was to load like an open stance groundstroke and only the second foot stepped forward. Anyone happen to know if both feet actually step forward in the walking step?

  • @MegaReemas ideally, you should step forward w/both feet. you'll still load on your outside leg like an open stance.

  • You need a new overgrip Will!

  • @anthonyhuynyh troooooof

  • Woohoo videos are back, looking forward to more!

  • why is he wearing knee high socks..?

  • @pararesis cuz they're the coolest =)

  • @pararesis he's scottish

  • Talk about turning lemon into lemonade. You guys turned the legal issue into an opportunity to improve on this video by asking the audience. This second version of the instructional video is 'world-class'.

    I'm glad it worked out.

  • @boingDC thanks! we got a bunch of comments / suggestions so we'll look to address more stuff in upcoming videos.

  • You guys do a stellar job.

  • really sucks that you had to make a new video :/

  • @undonekai happens, we'll just roll w/the punches. thanks for your support!

  • @FYB2007 how come it was removed? :S

  • @vincentbadminton there was a permit issue... we talk about what happened in a post on fyb

  • video still processing, quality will improve once that happens

  • nooo what happened to the quality?

  • @dhuntermilk i think the upload is in progress, so come back later and watch good quality vid ;-)

  • bad quality :/
