  • man the guy at 3:03 sure can read eh? everybody under 1:51? well all but one yes. 1:48.75? no, 1:48.74

  • I have dragon boat team in my sch. from what i see they spend 70% time in gym weight-training and circuit training on track, and 30% on the boat rowing!

  • Sprint > all other paddle sports

  • @lolcanozor Dragonboat > Sprint

  • People, please! dragonboat and crew are BOTH legitimate sports. If you say one is easy to do it just means you weren't trying hard enough. If you push yourself in crew, it hurts. If you push yourself in dragonboat, it hurts. And I'm pretty damn sure that a lot of the dragonboaters, at least in that USA boat, are very accomplished rowers, even made the olympics! Let's please focus on the awesomeness of this race now :)

  • No wonder United States would win!

  • that it is very impressive speed

  • such a badass race!

  • Crew > Dragonboat

  • @boarderline69 Having paddled at Penrith for 4 - 5 years now, it is next to impossible to gain any advantage by moving to the side of your lane trying to wash ride. If anything you are slowing the boat down by having to travel the extra sideways distance down the course. The course is deep enough that the wake produced is no where near as big as it was in Prague for the last World Champs.

  • Was this a World Record at 1:48?

  • 2nd place Philippines! WOOT! Nice one guys!

  • @leaoaltamirano phillipines have very very fast rate

  • @utubeazn123 I agree! Thanks for the complement ;)

    What country you from?

  • @leaoaltamirano im from Vancouver Canada, trying out for team canada youth 23.

  • @utubeazn123 Awesome! Did you join Macau Club Crew World Championships concluded last July 28?

  • looks slow to a rower

  • I wonder how those big guys fit in the front of the boat haha

  • @lightfireX

I actually spoke to the US team & their stroke about that, he said it's just practise! He's 6'2" and well over 170 pounds! Pretty amazing...

  • @Chingchang1234567890 and you are lame

  • Go PDBA!!

  • I used to dragon boat back SA....RESPECT!

  • you are so retarded, why don;t you try it out and see how easy it is.

  • @nexisras I found it vice versa

  • @nexisras you have no idea how tough real dragonboat training is. gtfo.

  • @iStyleZ415 I actually do have an idea... and as an athlete. I dont find it hard

  • @nexisras have you ever really tried to db before?

  • @nexisras The fact that you are coming on a dragon boat video and dissing us already shows the kind of people that do crew. Is this how you are going to represent yourself and your sport? Way to go. Athletes that don't have respect for other sport in my opinion, should not be considered athletes at all. I'm sure many other agree.

  • @nexisras your a fuckwit

  • @nexisras Rowing suck. Dragon BOAT is the DAMN REAL sport

  • That was sweet :-)

  • fili made 175 strokes while the joes had only 168-9, what made the difference? is it bec they are bigger and have longer reach?

  • yeah. i think they're pulling a longer deeper stroke. phillipines is all about the fast stroke and recovery.

  • the captain called for "hards" injected halfway the race which is a shorter/faster stroke which made the count so..

  • galing PDBF!

  • unreal time.....our coach talks about canadian womens team all the time..but the usa......crikey ..put a horn on a jellyfish!

  • cool my team in b.c the surgin steurgons had a 2:09 500m with a stroke rate of 154pm and we were against the current to.

  • lol the chinese dont even hit 154 spm, i doubt it

  • no it's true even ask my coach sharon mclean. i can even giv u her email if u want

  • spoke to Mike Creamer (Canada's rowing coach) and Melissa Mihalovic (Steer for World Gold-Medalist Canadian Women Dragonboat) yesterday. The Chinese women keep a stroke rhythm of 110 while the Canadians go at 90. Melissa explained that the size and arm length of Canadian women gave longer strokes and makes it hard for the team to go past 95..

  • I was there for the Jr. Canadain Team, watched this race and was like holy fucking shit when I saw the time!!

  • Wow just calculated their speed at about 20.168 kmph. That's fast.

  • philippines you make us proud...

  • yeah, i was thinking that they must be sick of being runner ups too.... but the indonesians were fast fast fast!!!!!!

  • Looking at them off the water you'd swear the Filo's would be capable of beating the Indo team.

  • yeah. im with you there. we were racing them in the mixed, i wonder what the starts looked like from a spectators point of view. (in the JPN team...ehehe)

  • which crew were you in?

  • japan.... hehehe. im not japanese... got special permission. (in Aust at worlds last year, and just recently at Asian Cup). but the club crew looked a lot funner.....

  • sorry, forgot to say, mixed team.

  • The Filo team finished 2nd at the asian championships on the weekend. They must be sick of the runners up title.

  • Pfff, where's their rotation!? ;)

Beautiful paddling, incredibly fast stroke-rate for a 500m and perfect sync! Great to watch!

  • lmao. i doubt there's any time to rotate with a stroke that fast.

  • paddles up!

  • I watch this almost every day. It's so motivating! I can't believe how fast and in sync they are. I keep forwarding it to everyone I know!

  • That start left me speakless, so snappy and everyone hits together....wow

  • I WAS THERE!!!!!! but i was representing america

  • tara pinas!

  • dude that is like the most craziest time i've seen for a 500m race 1min 48 sec, truly amazing

  • Good job to all you filipino paddlers...as for the amatuers:

US NAVY 2007 US Mlitary dragon boat champs!!! Okinawa Japan! This year we'll beat the Japanese Navy.

  • watch the entire video before commenting

  • who won?

  • Amazing. Just amazing.

  • y JUST amazing?

  • this is one of the reasons why im so proud to be a filipino paddler...cheers to our very own national team..KAYA NG PINOY!

  • @rossnjhi What?

  • Thanks for posting this, the Philly team has sent this link to their friends and families so they can view what they heard about from us.

  • WHICH COUNTRY TOOK THE NATIONS CUP FOR THE MOST COMBINED MEDAL COUNT POINTS ? (I cannot find this info on the Dragons Downunder website)

Was Canada relegated to the Minor Final in the Open 500m ?

  • Im not sure on your canada question, but America took the cup for the most combined medal count points...

  • Awesome!

  • go team pilipinas!

Looks like some hardware is coming home to Philly. Wish I coulda been there.
