  • some genesis? or phil collins. love it.

wish i had a press like this...

  • anyone know of a shop in south jersey that does it like this? clean, neat, and professional!!!tired of dealing with butchers!!!!!

  • lucky bastard, lol

  • my favorite part was the tune in the background. :)

  • Wow. Only about 20 times faster than I do U-joints.

  • lots of time doing it day in and day out allows this guy to make it look easier that it is for the inexperienced wrench-er, i know its not hard, but he has put a few together and the press helps alot, and the little jigs they have made up makes a huge difference too. i can do them myself, but for the fifty bucks my shop here in town wants to install my three u-joints and ball kit, it would be stupid of me to do it myself, and just as stupid to buy a big ole arbor press and make up jigs......

  • u guys r jamming out to phil collins or some shit

  • @coty734 Peter Gabriel

  • A shot of oil and that press will last another 100 years! lol

  • 20 pound sledge.......:)

  • Love that Arbor press!!!

  • @shadowdog500

It sure makes replacing U-joints a smooth and easy task. It works especially well on stubborn front axle U-joints. Thanks for watching!

  • okay, that was stupid easy. kinda wish I had a press...

Please tell me when you were quoted that price for t-case service. $3500.00 is way high for that type of work. Even a complete transfer case overhaul on most domestic trucks usually runs about $1500.00 to $1700.00 depending on variables.

I'd like to know more about your experience with us so this type of thing doesn't happen ever again.

You can also go to our website and respond using our customer survey form or call me.

    Thanks

  • @YoungsGearLLC It was a couple years ago. Actually I think you are right, the t-case itself was like 1700 but I forgot, I had a tube seal leak, and the rear differential was iffy. I ended up replacing the gasket on the rear diff myself, but it continued to leak through the drive seal, and I had to watch it. I was just butt hurt because I paid 600 for the truck itself, and then all of a sudden it needed 3500 in running gear. At least your shop was capable of doing this work.

  • @civicminded76 Thanks for responding. I also didn't mean for you to delete your first post but thanks.

I'm still curious what type of vehicle you have though.

    Doug

  • Damn!.... That's exactly how I'd do it ...if I knew what the hell I was doing. :)

Tha't way easier than the cave man method I just used on my full sized Bronco. Hammer, sockets and a bunch of banging. It wasn't pretty but it works.

  • best song ever going in the background!!! haha

  • I am sure that there are far less expensive presses that will do the same job on a common U-joint from any non-commercial application. You don't need a 15 ton compound press. A simple 2 ton bench top press will do the same job for this application.

  • Very nice!.....and to all the guys who say they'd rather save a few bucks and bang out the old joints, I hope that you never bust an ear off or spring a yoke and have to wait a few days for a new part with a piece of equipment down, then you'll realize that the service offered by a driveline shop is worth what they charge to do the work while you go have coffee. Don't ask how I know. HAHAHAHAHA!!

  • Having just done a U joint on a vice that was too small, and then finally using a cutting torch to get the old joint off, I have a new appreciation for this $6000 machine. At least I didn't beat on the ears like some people do. But I can also imagine how an inventive person could make his own press with a welder, thick square tubing, and a heavy duty bottle jack. Has anybody out there tried that? Seems like it would be pretty easy to do....

  • @spelunkerd I have a press from Harbor Freight that works great. I like my thor method better because it's faster and I've done over a couple hundred without damaging a single one. You can also use a c-clamp style ball joint press that is a free rental tool from Auto Zone too.

  • that was too easy. i hate you

  • you chine needs some lube bad!

  • Yah cause we all have the necessary equipment shown in our garages....lmfao.

  • That press sure does make things easy, huh? A little Peter Gabriel in the background helps too I guess. Unfortunately I don't have 6 grand so I'll stick with my hammer and socket method.

  • I want that press. I had to do U joints on my truck last week.

  • The sight of their tools shop made me drool on my keyboard a little.

  • and thats how the pros do it ,sweet shope

  • to bad all those handy tool's don't explain what they are doing you suck

  • you can do i easily with a 12" or 10" c clamp and 2 sockets

  • The arbor press is a Dake model 2647-2004. The press fixtures and rotating table are done by a company called Axi-Line. That's where we bought them. The modified arbor press is not inexpensive. The last price I remember was something around $6000.00. Thanks for watching.
