@cammyjee Or maybe you should have warn your stupid friend to stop texting you because you'll be going to the movie. If you feel the need to text so bad, then go to the fucking lobby and do it, but not while in the theatre where your god damn Cell Phone light will shine the entire dark room.
People go to the theater to see the movie in peace, not to listen to your Monkey howling voice about something stupid on the screen, or to be distracted by your fucking cell phone. Dumbass.
@RoyalDog214 or you could not be a pussy that cant watch a movie if somebody else has a phone if that much is enough for not to enjoy a movie then stay home, a room full of a couple hundred people will always have somebody disrupting
and this is coming from somebody who's only texted in a theatre when my girlfriend's uncle (father figure) died while i was watching captain america
@vetzal Or you can behave your dumbass little self and show some maturity by not interrupting other people in the movie theatre with your cellphone. What's up with today generation and the lack of respect for other people? It's all these damn fucking MTV generation crap.
If you want to text, go outside the room and do it. But don't shine your god damn light in a dark room and act like it's no big deal.
@RoyalDog214 no i'm just capable of not being bothered by other people's vices and device's, i dont care if other people text in the theatre (i'd care if they were talking, shouting or answer a phonecall) because im focused on a big ass movie with booming speakers, but i still don't do it anyway because i know there are easily irritated people that flip their shit,
seriously though, how can light from a phone distract you from a great movie?
I don't text or talk in movie theaters, nor do i enjoy when others do. However, i do not appreciate being treated like some asshole 'who'd better not take his fucking phone out or else.' The stance taken by the Alamo Drafthouse is rude and threatening, and lessens the value of the moviegoing experience. Being rude is not a good way to combat rude behavior, its just hypocritical.
@burritochu I agree that it's a bit hypocritical. I think they feel that if they have vulgar PSAs telling you they'll "Kick your ass out" if they talk, they can skip the whole confrontation regular theater managers would have to go through.
@burritochu Then don't go? You pulling your bright ass phone out RUINS my movie going experience. You pay for their service so you must oblige by their RULES. How about leaving the phone brightness setting to lowest and try to cover it with your shirt so the light doesn't distract other people? It is an emergency? Go the fuck out side.
The stance taken by Alamo Draft house is the correct one and more movie theater should follow in its step.
@burritochu "However, i do not appreciate being treated like some asshole 'who'd better not take his fucking phone out or else.'"
If you weren't going to take out your phone then the PSA wasn't directed at you - it was directed at the kind of people who have their phone screen on during a movie.
If you were going to take out your phone, then you are one of those assholes and I applaud the Drafthouse for treating you so poorly.
@cammyjee I have no doubt people will continue to text, and it will continue to be distracting and rude.
On the case of kicking someone out, the Drafthouse shows two visual ads ON SCREEN not to talk or text, then gives you TWO warnings IN PERSON before kicking you out. If you can't get the point by then, I'm surprised you could make it to the theatre by yourself. Drafthouse is a niche theatre that caters to people who want to enjoy it in peace, lots of people agree and business is booming.
@cammyjee perhaps you should just read through the comments on this video. Then consider whether we are all wrong, or whether you are just fucking stupid and self centered to realize that what you do, pisses everyone else off. Stop replying to my comments unless you have something more to contribute than "look straight."
@cammyjee If it was important, why are you still sitting in the theatre instead of leaving to handle business? People survived just fine for centuries without a cell phone, they'll survive without for two hours. We all spent our hard earned cash in the theatre to watch a film, not be distracted by someone else's phone. If it is THAT important (you'd probably be expecting it or be receiving repeated texts), check it in the lobby. Not THAT hard to do.
@cammyjee Lighters are waved in rhythm to the music at a concert. To text you have to look down & away from the movie. Why is it so hard for you to understand the difference? Google news search this story - world wide, people are in heavy agreement with the theatre.
@cammyjee You're right - its equally rude. But if you're going to be rude enough to disturb me with ambient light from your phone to watch a movie I paid money to see, I'm certainly not going to extend any courtesy to you. I'm tethered to my phone for work, I can manage to put it away for 2 hours. Why can't you?
@cammyjee People put up their lightlers because theyre feeling the music. The'yre not sending smoke signals to their friends. Its to show the artist that you're feeling the vibes. Showing your appreciation.
So next time, turn your phone off unless you're texting whatever teenage slut actress you like about the film you're watching her in.
Im sure your friends can wait 90 minutes for you to text them "i lyk, dnt no wuts goin on i da moovy. Mean gurlz iz complic8d"
@cammyjee Dark movie theater + bright cell phone screen=me wanting to put my foot in your ass for distracting me from the movie I paid to see. ALL theaters have a no texting policy, it's just that most either don't enforce it very well or don't have the man power to enforce it when there's 15-20 movies playing at once. Kudos to this place for actually giving a damn. If there was one near me I'd be there every chance I got.
