If you are truly good at Judo, you will not use strength in fights, because Judo means "gentle way". You use your opponent's force against him. Unless a wimpy nerd is picking on you. Force is not required.
Actually, it will work. If they punch you in the face you can use one of the basics, where you grab their arm pull and stick your leg out and make them trip on it. You can even pull the Uchimata out.
im 14 yrs old and i use this throw at state and national tournamen'ts this video make's it look very east to do. you have to be fast and strong to do this people are not gonna just walk into this throw
judo is all about leverage and lowering your bodies center of gravity, using body parts a fulcrum, and off balancing you opponent. It often favors smaller people like women and kids sometimes cause they can use their lower center of gravity and a larger person weight and momentum to their advantage.
judo does mean the gental way but out of all the marshal arts there are judo is the hardest it is a very good sport and those who think judo is just for girls ur are wrong
the fireman's carry? your opponent does not have to mess up. all you have to do is get right under them. i myself prefer the drop version of the throw. but no, it can be done
it is true though 'the soft way' judoka how we are taught now days is a competition art. what judo was before it was called judo was a self defence art but is to dangerous to teach new peps what iv been shown u cld kill some1 with the first white belt throw forgot name
Yes. No weapons, punches, special gear, nada. You learn how to get someone off balance and then throw them to the ground. When they get up, throw them again. And again. If you had to use it in a street fight, you'd do fine. Cement isn't the nicest thing to bounce off of...
Judo is no just throws, there's chokes, traps, takedowns, and ground grappling involve. Depends what Judo school you go to. If I were you, go to the ones that teaches everything Judo has to offer.
for streetfighting jujitsu is a lot better because there are strikes. im not saying judo is bad for self defence but you don't learn how to block punches n stuf
yes and no. it may not be as aeffective in street fights as kickboxing or aikido, but it is still an effective and brilliant martial art (it is also thought by some to be the hardest). it is not about pain, merely neutralising an opponent with athrow, and then, if needs be, causing them to submit with a hold, armlock, choke or strangle. its primarily a sport, and a great one at that.
