that last solo was just way too random...didn't make any rhythmical sense to me. Just sounded like he tried to hit everything he could as fast as he could and then added a few simple transitions to make it less spastic...lol
I was there that day...the audio on the video of the performance sounds good, but the live sound in the auditorium was horrible and muddy. As I recall, the MD people later said they were running
around 80 mic cables into the board for that performance. I couldn't make heads or tails out of what was being played. It sounded like 4 guys just beating the hell out of their drums...under water.
@pdrums777 Neil Peart plays strictly to a book, and Travis looks like he's flogging a dead goat when he plays. These drummers have soul and can groove to ANY beat, and they can throw ANY fill with ANY timing and ALWAYS crash on beat one.
Though I like Neil Peart's playing, these drummers are WAY better IMO.
@pdrums777 They are completely different styled drummers. You can't compare them at all. Travis Barker is a horrible drummer IMO...good for his genre, but he's completely overrated.
One could write a complete album, there's so much melody in their playing! Man, I can almost sing them back. Their fills pop up randomly in my mind during the day! :D Thank you!!!
@RaySession17 They're both in the middle, We know who Teddy Campbell is. Maybe he wanted some info on the guy with the drum machine/sampler aka Nissan Stewart.
@joelywoel lool...theres alot to find out in music. for everybody ..its a good thing uve stepped outta yur circle to find out what others a doing..shows true marks of real musicianship! lol
At the end of the day I havecome to the conclustion its each to their own and complaing about other drummer is no good for soul or anyone. Just play what you play. Drummer always have a go at each other. Some guys like chops let them do it they are expressing themselves some guys like Jazz,Grooving, raggae, soul, afro beat etc . Lets stop bitching about, this drummer is better than that one, that one is better than this one lets just enjoy how drummers are expressing themselves.
@gbengaaaa You are so right sir. Music is not a D**k measuring contest. Its art, its expression, its supposed to be fun. Imo, technique for the drummer is like the words for the poet. The more words he knows, the better he can express himself. Some drummers have shitty technique but still makes awsome songs. Even thou i love watching the masters rip it up, Technique isn't everything. Ppl who diss other drummers lack of technique needs stop hearing the drums, and start hearing the music..

No. Aaron is the only one who is showing immaturity in his playing by simply busting out the singles on 32nd notes and hitting whatever gets in the way of his sticks. The other guys all have a much higher respect for rhythm, and are actually trying to construct something worth grooving to.
yeah I think that the whole point of this is to "groove" not mash. Now dont get me wrong, I really like Aaron but I think Teddy and the others are a lot more musical. The kind of people I would want in the studio.
@carl9z well seeing that this was supposed to simulate a shed session, the point of it wasnt for groove, thats why they each did a solo piece afterwards
in a day and age when most drummers sound the same carter beauford stands out . these guys are good, but carter is able to put chops in sounds. he can solo within a song.

noone here really knows what they are talking about.....the drum company is usually the one to approach the artist not the other way around. Right now Sonor and DW are the two most popular drum companies and are recruiting the most. Most artists arent going to turn down a drum endorsement when they are first getting started, so even if they dont play the drum co. that comes to them they are most likely going to accept. Its as simple as that. DW and Sonor are both unbelievably nice either way.
That's Marv McQuitty, he's more so the old-school player here. He toured for years and has now settled down in Houston and become more of a mentor type to many younger drummers(including Aaron). He's constantly doing projects here and there, like this MD festival and various records all over the place. I know him from our church in Houston, talked to him yesterday. Super cool guy. My favorite here ;)
My top three was Aaron, Gerald, and then Marvin. I will say this though starting at 00:44 with Gerald nice and tasteful. Gerald gives you that stuff that's just like wow. Now I wish eric Byous was up there for those who don't know. God Bless.

HEY This Video is about drummin.... write your messages privat dudes. Gerald and Teddy are my favourites because Aaron makes always the same fills and stuff and its not musically enough I think.
that was awesome.. i know guys who play like that who arent religious at all... i firmly beleive that its possible to get that good without the help of our so called "god"
well jesus did say i am the way the truth and the life and no one can entire heaven except by me. again other religions give jesus credit. so even if you trust in jesus, according to those other religions, your still going to heaven. so why not just trust in jesus. he'll definately get you there. he was the only one that died for our sins.

DW drums are just good sounding drums. For the drummer who wants the same sound quality but a little less expensive, They will go with YAMAHA, Ddrum or TAMA!

What makes DW more expensive is the quality control that goes into making each drum. John Good will toss out a shell if it doesn't cut it. Additionally, they're always innovating new processes and rethinking the way drums work. They're a fine company, but my Tama Starclassic Performer works for me.

HEY This Video is about drummin.... write your messages privat dudes. Gerald and Teddy are my favourites because Aaron makes always the same fills and stuff and its not musically enough I think.

what god do you pray to? other religions give jesus credit and jesus only credits himself. i'm gonna trust the one i know who'll get me to heaven.
drumfoomaster 4 years ago
well ill trust the one i know will get me to heaven. wichever one gets me there im willing to go with isnt it sad how selfish i am?
drummrguy 4 years ago
well jesus did say i am the way the truth and the life and no one can entire heaven except by me. again other religions give jesus credit. so even if you trust in jesus, according to those other religions, your still going to heaven. so why not just trust in jesus. he'll definately get you there. he was the only one that died for our sins.
