Hey help me anybody. There was the Galactica on one side with a flight of (Forgive me if my numbers are off) about thirty vipers led by Hot Dog defending it being assaulted by a squadron of over one-hundred raiders (the combined asteroid reserve and decoy raiders), why did they turn tail and run after Apollo's main strike force of vipers blew the base? That never clicked with me. They could have just as easily destroyed Humanity's last defender and found the fleet later.
@AndyHocvs they didnt have a base left, therefore they may have been low on fuel after chasing hot dogs group and wouldnt have had enough to finish the attack and/or return to
They could have just gone on a suicide mission and downloaded. And don't say the resurrection ship was out of range or whatever because this episode came before that plot device.
@AndyHocvs in the case of this argument, all i can say is it makes good tv, or the shock of loosing it made them all cowards and incapable of rational thought i dunno
@AndyHocvs The Raiders were designed as pets. Like guard dog they will hunt as a pack and destroy intruders But if there is nothing to protect they are probably programmed to return to the nearest base star
Surely one of the top 5 episodes ever. It had an incredibly intense battle with a completely unpredictable twist (I mean who didn't orgasm when those Vipers flew out of the freighter?), but not at the expense of a warm emotional segment (the "Lighter")
what's the name of the theme that starts playing in the background for a few seconds at 5:32? i know it's in other songs, and i can't think of any of them at the moment.
@chompa1309 That's Apollo's theme. There isn't one soundtrack song that features it alone, but its in "The Olympic Carrier", "Two Funerals", and other soundtrack songs.
It's the main theme of the Episode "Black Market".
That melody of pipes starting from 0:59 onwards and being reiterated is really a fantastic musical rendering of 'the devinely inspired heroism' if you ask me. The warrior's call to duty, the aim of victory in the face of peril and imminent risk to be eliminated, holding everything in the balance and believing in one's devine superiority and -may I even dare call it- predestination to prevail... Hats of, Mr. McCreary. "So say we all !!"
I love how the 0:52 mark was reused in "Flight of the Phoenix" (season 2.0) when all of the Cylon ships were disabled, letting the humans just use them for target practice.
OMG this was the best episode for me especially when lee thinks his dad gives him the lighter cause he inst as good as starbuck, and when he said i know youll do it cause your my son my hairs lifted, then lee takes on the mine by

"Battlestar Galactica" was always about more than just war and violence, but it was nice to see just a good, straight-up battle episode.

I remember that at 1:17 Adama enters the CIC, and says: Tell attack force one that they can stop running, and blow those bastards to hell!.
I love this episode! My Fav together with exodus Part 2

One of the most under-appreciated songs of the series, but truly epic. The episode its from was one of the best of the series.

What's the name of the bagpipe song that plays after Apollo get's back from attacking the cylon mining station?
braenard1 2 years ago
It's "wander my friends"
blubbfred 2 years ago
@braenard1 Wander My Friends is the song that plays during the celebration. It is a common theme song for the Adamas throughout the series.
